Some USB device connection problems

Ever since my SSD bit the dust (:(), every USB device I connect is recognized as a "USB Input Device" when the device driver installation for Win7 comes up. (The little hard disk with a green circle.)
It does this with EVERY device.
For example:
Turtle Beach Headset
Mouse
Keyboard
G35
G27
ACT Labs Shifter
Logitech Cordless Desktop

HOWEVER, even when the devices show up improperly, the G35 and TBHS show up in the Audio Devices as the proper Audio Device. G35 shows up as a G35 and the TB shows up as a TBHS and Digital Optical Out (For the surround sound).
The Mouse and Keyboards are fully functional (Logitech with its software)
The ACT Labs Shifter and the G27 are also recognized as just USB input devices. They still are fully functional and properly functioning.

This may be a minor complaint that isn't needed, but I just want to know why Windows is lying to me .
