Something happened to my memory card.

I went to change a car in my garage and a message poped-up saying "No data of GT4 found. Try again?".
I tried again severaly times and still nothing. Then I went to Replay Theater to see if my replays were there. They were not, and in the upright corner it said "Memory card not formatted."

Did the inevitable happen?!?! :scared:
 
Yea, this has happened to me at least once during GT4. :( It was my for my very first GT4 driver (Pizza Boy). Out of the blue, ALL his data got lost. The replays, oddly, were still there. But the actual garage somehow got wiped out. :( I was so bummed but (of course) merely restarted his entire game, which was kinda fun cuz he's really into cheapie Civics and Mirages and stuff in the beginning.

Um, try restarting your console and seeing if it even recognizes there's a memory card there. If it says "insert a PS2 memory card" or whatever, try holding the card upwards until the console recognizes there's a card there. I have several cards nowadays that don't get recognized unless I do this, which is a scary thought.

Then again, if it wants you to format, that is a scary thought. I don't think that has happened to me, actually. Good luck.
 
You all probably corrupted your profile, by resetting or turning off during saving (happened to me, and I only just completed all the hard races)
 
I had the same problem with my memory card. It was not a original ps2 memory card.

It was two screws on the back, I open it, and tryed to lift the "contact plate", gently, no more than a strand of hair.

My theory was that the "contact plate" was worn, and did not have properly contact with the "contact plate in the ps2. And surprisingly, it worked.

Maybe it was luck, but it did the job
 
I had this issue awhile back because of dirty contacts on the card. I dipped a q-tip in alcohol and cleaned the copper plates, after the alcohol evaporated the card worked fine.

Also the contacts are on the top-inside of the card aiming downward, so if the memory card socket is worn then a simple thin paper/cardboard/plastic shim, placed between the top of the memcard and the top of the socket should force the card downward to ensure contact.

The worst case scenario is that the memory card is damaged due to electrical short, static, magnetic, or electronic failure.
