the true comparasion...... Evo. vs. STI and S2000 vs. Rx8

i kno we have seen many of these threads before but i really want to see the clash of all the PRO.'s of these car companys..... i have choosen these because theyt are in the 28,000-40,000 range and that they are all rivals..... plaese give me ur fedback on these rival cars... thx

i have ot sai that it is the Evo. even though i am a PRO. to honda i am looking for a practical but yet fast car..... the S2000 is the true sports car it still is not a comparasion to the evo. power, torque, and overal performace.....but still i dislike the the rx8 because i have test drove it and to me it has ugly perofrmance... to me it has no comparsion compared to the s2000... it has lots of power, no doubt.... but i wouldnt suggest u to buy it.... the STI i havent driven because they wont let u drive it unless u put a down....

Ok, I dont understand what the hell you're trying to say. And if you're really a public relations officer for honda, that speaks volumes about their competance as a company. I'm not impressed. I dont claim that my grammar is perfect, but yours is just plain pitiful.

On another note, why would people be comparing these cars? The only ones in the same class are the evo and STI. I highly doubt people in the market for an S2000 would want a 4 door rally car. Nor would someone wanting to comfortably seat 4 in near luxury want to buy a 2 seat sports car.

Another question....why the hell do you feel the need to reply to your own post?

The STi and the Evolution would kill the other two cars. Not saying the other two are bad, but they're no where close to the STi/Evo.

But this is a good place for me to rant...
I warn you, its very opinionated, and I'll probably just sound like a moron.

At the i-Club and NASIOC, there have been a couple of kids that come in and post, "STi has been dethroned! LONG LIVE KING EVO!", or something to that effect. Too all of those people, I say bite me. The Evolution has been rated better, and it's a good car, I don't deny that. But I don't want to hear some whiney puss-ass that probably doesn't even know how to push that car to it's limits (not saying I can, I can't even do my 2.5RS justice), ranting and raving about how the STi sucks.

Assuming the STi and Evolution are still around... If the STi is still the underdog in 10-15 years when I get mine, it'll just be all that much better when I stomp on every Evolution that is driven by some teenage prick at an autocross.

The STi and Evo are probably the best performance-wise, but I'd choose the STi because everybody I know wants the Evo. Oh, and how exactly do you define "ugly" performance?

I`m a devoted NISMO man, but if I was to purchase either the STi or the EVO it would have to be the STi based on a few things, first of all, The performance on the STi(and not caring about what the reveiws have to say) is, and not a lot, better then the EVO, and the fact that every joe bloggs these days has an EVO. My perfect example though would have me owning a Nissan for a street racer and an STi for a more wild back roads sort of racer.

To me its the EVO. I love Mitsubishi's 4G63 engines, Ive been driving DSM's since my driving permit at 15 years old till today. I wouldnt drive anything but something powered by that. Im not like those people that are all for one and none for the other. I love the EVO the most. But dont get me wrong, every time I see an STi roll by my tongue hangs down and the only words that come out of my mouth is a studder as I point. They both have their perks, the EVO accells faster, but the STi can go faster.

As for the S2000, I could care less.. and the RX-8, that has proven to be a joke in the world of sports cars.

It depends on what you want in a car, I'd take an STi over an Evo anyday and an S2k over an RX-8 but that's just my taste.

the evo does not accelerate faster than the sti. and wasnt the 4g63 made by diamond star motors out of some place like texas or iowa???

I have to agree with advanR on this one. The STi pulls a 13.1 second quarter mile, while an Evolution is 13.4 seconds. I believe this is what Car & Driver reported in "New Wave Slingshots". Unfortunatly, I lost that copy and don't know where the hell it is. Because the Evo is pushing a good 21.5 PSI the turbo lag is pretty noticable and showed in the top gear acceleration, but who the hell really cares? When are you going to try and accelerate from 30-50 in 5th gear? Thats not fun! :D

None the less, both great cars, and based on what I like about cars, I would more likely to go for the Evo if I wasn't biased towards Subaru.

The 4G63 is a Mitsubishi engine. They have been using it since 1989. It has been in all of the 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Talon/Eclipse/Lasers, and in the US spec Galant VR-4's. And every one of the EVO's to today. The DSM's were a joint production by Diamond Star Motors, but the cars were built by Mitsubishi

How is it narrow minded? I'm narrow minded because I've driven all of the above said cars, and didn't like any, but the S2000? I just don't like any of these new trendy boy racer cars(WRX, WRX STi, Evo VIII, RX8, SRT-4, etc.).

Oh well.

How is the RX-8 a "boy-racer car"? It's a full four-seater coupe...

Actually, how are any of them - short of daddy buying it? It took my brother until he was 32 to buy a Scooby.

They are, at best, male-menopausal-racer cars.

I quite like the RX-8, personally, but none of the others totally appeals to me.

I would not call any of them a boy racer car as they are all desighned for certain purposes, it`s just that little boys get their mummy`s and daddy`s to buy them an EVO 4(I base this on the fact that that`s the most popular for boy racers in my area) and then all their mates get one and they go around racing like fools down main street trying to be big cool guys, but the EVO`s and the STi`s were desighned for cornering and superior handling at speed and the RX 8 was a 4 seater desighned for the sporty couple, it was never desighned for the boy racer, it was rotory`s answer to the Nissan 350 Z.

Riiiight. Well, here in the US....boy racers....DONT GET EVOs....except the rich ones. And they certainly dont get evo4s.

I like both the new Evos and STi. *Magazine racing mode* I think it was Motor Trend that said their test evo after the 1000 mile break in spanked a 03 SVT Cobra in almost every catagory. I will look for that article. popular mechanics aug 03 issue did a comparo. STi 13.52, evo 13.59 that's very close.

I found the C&D, the STi has been recorded as having a 13.2 @ 103mph second quarter mile, while the Evo was up around 13.6 @ 101mph. Both can probably be pushed a little more, but I would feel safe saying the STi was the quicker of the two.

As for comparing the Evo vs. an '03 Cobra, then it sounds possible. Quarter mile times I believe a Cobra would whip the crap out of it (C&D reporting a 12.9 sec, I think), otherwise it would be the Evolution. When they compared the Cobra to the RX 8 and G35 the Cobra won the road course by a mere seven tenths of a second. Yes, a good margin, but you would think something with at least 150 more horses to do better than that.

If, and this is a big if it seems, they used the same road course. The Evolution/STi beats the Cobra by 15 seconds.

As for the whole racer boy issue.... These are two very expensive cars for racer boys, and if I saw a teenager driving one, I wouldn't think much of it. But seeing an STi being slammed around an autocross course by a SCCA expert driver (a SCCA championship winner, I think) is something of true beauty. I would say the same for an Evo, but unfortunatly I can't say the same for an Evolution. No ones shown up with one. :(
