Hi guys,

I've been asked to write about this year in music and I'd like all of yours guys opinions on what the song of 2010 was. I'm not looking for the most sold or most popular but your favourite songs and/or artists of the year.

Of course the popular acts are just important but what about those bands/songs/artists that have slipped under the radar or are building a reputation?

In my own view the obvious hits are there are some great songs and albums this year. The return of the Gorillaz with Plastic Beach has been a personal highlight which included many decent songs as well as one of my personal favourites of the year 'On Melancholy Hill'.

Aeroplanes by B.O.B and Hayley Williams from Paramore fame is a song that ive been unable to shake from my head, and has to be up there for song of the year. Along the same lines, new material from Katy Perry and Eminem has not gone unnoticed.

Gnarls Barkley frontman Cee Lo Green's solo material has not exactly taken off, the first song from his album, 'The lady killer' was a strong with a strong title and catchy tune. For me '**** you' is up there for song of the year.

Just some very select and off the top of my head artists and songs. But what about you? Whats your song of the year?

Along those lines there is a tYdi mashup of this and, in my opinion, the best trance tune of the year: Moment by Stoneface and Terminal.

Check it out:

Love it ;)

Brandon Flowers - Crossfire (Entire album rocks, saw him live last month)
Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill (Didn't chart because the record buying public are tone-deaf)
Linkin Park - Waiting For The End
Eminem - Not Afraid

I haven't bought or listened to much music released in 2010, so my view isn't probably the best. With that said, my favourite song of the year would be Streetlight Manifesto's cover of NOFX's Linoleum:

Anamanaguchi - Airbushed

My Chemical Romance - Na Na Na

Yeah, I said it. MCR's album is a stroke of genius.

Easily the best song of 2010. It's good to see one of Thrash grandfathers stick to their roots.

Honorable mention.

(It's not war) Just the end of love - Manic Street Preachers.
I did not listen to much 2010 stuff so that's my song of the year.

I watched the German MTV 2010 Best countdown and No.1 was...We no speak Americano :yuck: though I agree with No.2 Wavin' Flag. Has become a HUGE stadium anthem.

How can anyone overlook Moon Over The Castle's GT5 remake?

My Song Of The Year 2010 goes to Chris Daughtry - September. Such a great song, the mid-tempo ballad is inspired by Chris's childhood memories growing up with his brother in a small town in North Carolina.

Chris Daughtry
"Every time I hear that song it takes me back to my summers in Lasker," Chris says. "I loved growing up there, but I knew I'd have leave to make something of my life." The song's lines, "Yeah, we knew we had to leave this town / But we never knew when and we never knew how / We would end up here the way we are" inspired the album's title.

2010 wasn't a phenomenal year for Music in my opinion. However, from a drum and bass/dubstep perspective its been great. A really great, chilling DnB song is:

Miike Snow - Black and Blue (Netsky Remix)

Thats off of the UKF Channel. Some of 2010s finest songs on there ;)

Also a LOAD of great Deathcore Metal this year, not sure people here will enjoy it though...

Easy one.....

Nicko McBrains drumming is freaking awseome in the first 4 minutes of this song!👍 Of course, it's Iron Maiden, so you can't expect it to be a bad song.:)

SPRAWL II (MOUNTAINS BEYOND MOUNTAINS)

Such an amazing and rather surprising song off the new Arcade Fire album. I think Regine needs to take the lead on more songs from now on. She has a great voice (In studio versions) her SNL performace was a bit weak IMO... although I still love her and think she is gorgeous as ****. Win is a lucky guy....
