Anyone had any songs that you used to hate, but now like (or even love)? If so, explain yourself you turn-coat! :sly:

I have two examples myself...

Stevie Wonder - Happy Birthday

Hated it, pretty much coz it was quite a silly pop song (to the untrained ear), and I was listening to Yes, Deep Purple and Genesis at the time... only grew to love the song after discovering that SW is a genius (after getting 'Innervisions' from a friend) and subsequently 'Hotter Than July' and realising that the song is about celebrating Martin Lither King's birthday and race relations (and SW's campaign to make it a national holiday)...

and 'Veronica' by Elvis Costello

I hated it when it was (almost) in the charts... but it grew on me...

Anything by Tool.
It's not at all that you hate the songs when you first listen to them, but only after many listens do you fully appreciate them.

Currently, Lyla by oasis. I wasn't too excited about this song, when I first heard it while back. After listening to it on CD few times, it's my (current) favorite song. :)

P.S. Killer avatar, Iceman!

Hot Hot Heat - You Owe Me an IOU

Thought at first, meh, its pretty good, but it got stuck in my head and is now one of my favs. The same holds true for the band itself.

just about all of Mars Volta's album Deloused in The Comatorium. I disliked it for a while then I listened to it almost obsessively.

Same with Pink Floyd. I never really liked them... now I have 22 cds worth of their music.

the second Marillion album (Clutching at Straws) i got was like that. the first time i listened to it i thought that it was boring and straightforward, but then i put it in my discman and listened to it on the bus every day, and now it's one of my favorites

A very good friend of mine is a big fan of Marillion, and I'm totally in agreement with you on this count... they are an acquired taste, but they are well worth the trouble... 👍 👍 great example!

Pretty much anything by In Flames. I used to dislike them very much because screamy metal wasn't my thing. Now I can't get through a day without listening to at least one of their songs. 👍

u sir is correct. oh yeah, so does every Pink Floyd.

He wouldn't be as good without that awesome accent. Where is he from originally? I seem to remember Armenia

Saves the Day - Rocks Tonic Juce Magic
Got this song at random while looking for some Tonic. My first thought was "Wow, these guys suck so much", and that's why I kept it. It's really grown on me since then, I see it as more unique then suck. And the lyrics are cool, I wasn't really paying attention to them at first.

Mr. Bungle - The Air-Conditioned Nightmare
At first listen, this song confused the hell out of me. I couldn't comprehend it, it was like noise core (but more listenable). Now when I hear it, it's just Mr. Bungle, and Mr. Bungle is cool.
