Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed the arrival of the PSP Go! Cam next month, across Europe and other PAL territories (Australia, then).

The snap-on camera will retail for £35 and lets you record up to two and a half hours of video and take and store up to 40,000 photos. There's also a built-in microphone for audio and Go!Edit, Sony's own software package that lets you edit your photos and movies on your PSP.

If you've been paying attention you would have also noticed that Sony plans to release the PS3 Eye Cam this summer, which will let you capture hi-def pictures and video straight to you hard drive.

'Go!Cam is fantastic news for all those PSP owners looking for something new, fun and creative," said Stephane Hareau, PSP Marketing Manager, SCEE.

"With Summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP and to take advantage of truly portable entertainment. It demonstrates yet again the potential, versatility and evolving nature of PSP.''

The PSEye cam doesn't capture hi-def video it's (IIRC) 640x480@60fps. And I'd rather use my camera phone than the PSP's Go!Cam.

Agreed - That and I'm more likely to have my 3.2Mp Sony Ericsson handy than my PSP...

You know people can resize HD video to fit a screen, because if it was not resized, then the HD video would kill a lot of people's internet connections.

But do you know that the PSEye doesn't even capture HD Video in the first place?

Thats abit poor to give you that kind of standard camera in this day and age... I was expecting a motion eye branded thing with had a couple of mega pixels attached to its name, seems abit stupid as most phones can do better than that.

I do hope the PS3 EYE is better... although the deal with that seems to be its amazing microphone...

didn't this come out a long time ago cause my aunt had hers along time ago. She said she bought it in Hong Kong. And the camera quality kinda sucks. well at least the 1.3 megapixel one.
