Hi,

i was away from the game for a bit. Dipping into it again some kilometres per day just to see what's what with the physics and maybe Spec4.

As someone who just does a short race of whatever per day, would somebody care to give me an explanation what kind of Sophies we currently have in GT7?

There are 3 ways to connect to Sophy right now, i guess.
  • Quick race (what i do at the moment)
  • Custom race
  • Power Pack

Are they different? How do we call them (and how do we call older iterations that aren't in the game anymore)? What are the differences? And why do you maybe like one more than the other?

My question didn't resonate that great, ha?

What Google/AI told me, is that Sophy 2.0/2.1 which means Quick Races and Custom Races are pretty similar and have some pacing quirks and that Sophy 3.0 in the DLC is pretty great at close racing and races at it's full/stable potential no matter what.

3.0 can also drive in the rain with IM/W tires. It's more aggressive than 2.1, sometimes too much (loves to divebomb from miles away). Its racing lines are sometimes more weird than 2.1 ones and does not use the track to its full width potential (kerbs, etc).

I haven't driven that much since the 1.71 patch but it seems some minor tweaks have taken place and some 1.71 car/track combos result in funky issues at certain turns or tracks.

Interesting. I thought all Sophies are bad at using the full width of the track.

A bit of a shame that every mingling with the physics (of course) brings some kind of balancing issues. I mean an AI, no matter if Sophie or Reggie, learns something and the the (physical) rules change.

Ya, they have made real improvements - Check the custom race thread. Custom race Sophy is the best way to go.

It's not that bad. Sophy has some issue with some of the differential changes, but a quick tune fixes most of them. I'm finding a general diff fix for the midengined GR3 cars now.

It seems the Sophy doesn't like BIG differences in the diff settings, and PD set a bunch of the car to have HUGH differences. Like the Gr3 midengined cars are (almost) all set to 15/30/75. I don't know why they did that.

Custom Race SOPHY 2.1 got a bit of a tweak to where now it does make use of the full width of the track.
