R390 GT1 road car '89 stock 0km sold
The fastest and most expensive Nissan road car ever developed was created to comply with the Le Mans GT1 Class regulations which required manufacturers to build at least one street-legal version of the race car.
Unlike many others, Nissan built the road car first and built the racing version from it.
The R390 GT1 design was the work of Ian Callum at Tom Walkinshaw Racing.
One of only two made by Nissan. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a one of a kind supercar always maintained to the highest level.
Chaparral 2J Race Car '70 modified with a mid range turbo and medium slicks
2010 brought another example of SOTHEBY’S drawing power to the auction block, the third generation Chaparral sports-racer, chassis number 013. The Chaparral was the cornerstone of the successful, innovative and winning Chaparrals which Jim Hall and Hap Sharp built for sixties’ North American and international road racing. It is one of only two Chaparrals built (the other being chassis 003) which are not in Hall’s hands today.
This Chaparral 2j was sold to Gary Wilson’s Kansas Racing Team and later to Joe Starkey who won the southwest Region SCCA C-Modified championship with it. The rolling chassis and body was purchased by Dr. Gary Lund around 1970. By 1987 he was about to sell it when Arizona racing enthusiast and restorer Steve Schultz became a 50 percent partner in the project in return for agreeing to carry out a full restoration of chassis 013. Shultz’s restoration took the better part of a decade and was finally completed in the late 1990s. Much technical and historical research was carried out and the finished product reflects this in every detail, even to the magnesium wheels which have been gold anodized exactly as were the original alloy wheels cast by Halibrand to a special Troutman & Barnes design.
The 1971 FIA body panels used at Sebring were carefully preserved and accompany Chaparral 013 to the present but the restorer created a new body, using the original body as a pattern. Selected suspension and other parts also were re-fabricated as required in order to return this Chaparral to its original specifications and condition. Like the 1970 Sebring body, all the replaced suspension and structural components were boxed and retained with the car to ensure its historic continuity. The Sebring body panels, still in the original paint and identified by race number 33 are particularly important as they illustrate the aerodynamic experimentation that Hall was seriously exploring by 1970. The Kamm tail, front spoiler arrangement of this body is in fact nearly identical to the panels found on the first mid-engined Chaparral 2.
After displaying the completed Chaparral 2J at vintage venues for several years the partnership of Lund/Schultz sold Chaparral 2J 013 to the famed Skip Barber Collection of Sharon, Connecticut at the beginning of 2001. In 2002 Jim Hall was reunited with the car at the site of its most famous win, Road America, as part of the Chaparral feature where he drove three of his mid-engined Chaparrals in on-track demonstrations. After the 6'4" tall Hall climbed out of the Barber Chaparral 2J with some difficulty, on-lookers wondered how he managed to race this car so successfully. Jim Hall thought for a minute, then said in his quiet and humorous manner, “I guess I was a lot more ‘bendy’ 40 years ago.”
The cornerstone of the Chaparral legend and the foundation of the most technically significant and successful sports-racers ever built, the Chaparral 1 brought recognition of Jim Hall’s talent and encouraged the fruitful experimentation and development that led to breakthroughs like the 2C’s first moving airfoil, torque converter-linked manual transmission, aerodynamic skirts and the famous sucker-car Chaparral 2J.
The ex-works 1968 Honda S800 ‘Yellow fever’ race car. 2000 km
Modified with a turbo and rated at 133hp at the crankshaft.
The most special of all S800 - commissioned in 1967 by Tetsu Ikuzawa to the ultimate spec, uniquely fitted with a coil sprung rear suspension, 5-speed gearbox and a special engine.
Originally prepared and entered for Ikuzawa by Keele Engineering, Ikuzawa qualified #012 for the 1967 Nuerburgring 500km (seen here on the grid). They won the 1,000 cc and under class in 3rd September 1967.
Recently re-fitted with a newly-built, state-of-the-art, Crosthwaite and Gardiner 849 engine we are pleased to offer for sale this immensely historic and highly competitive Japanese sportscar. The perfect car with which to enter - and win - next season’s Sir Stirling Moss Trophy, Goodwood Revival, Le Mans Classic and many more prestigious races at which it would be welcome.
GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 '65 black modified with high rpm turbocharger and soft slicks
Chassis 106 was delivered to SOFAR, the Alfa Romeo France central distributorship, on May 17, 1965, finished in black with a black interior. The TZ-1 Registry offers the only known history of the car and suggests that it remained in France until September 1989, when it was sold to Holland in non-running condition, fitted with a roll bar, sliding windows, and finished in Alfa red with a brown corduroy interior. In 1994, the owner had the car restored at the Daytona Garage in Leiden before consigning it for sale. There is no real evidence that the car sold and only a passing reference to some possible rally competition and possible owners in Holland, France, and Switzerland. The engine is recorded as being rebuilt in early 1998 before being sold in March at a Brooks auction in Geneva.
DELTA S4 Rally Car '85 stock 0km
gr. B ex Toivonen car.
Original S4 gr. B rally car, one of the 28 cars build. Car with original Fiat Auto Spa paper and Torino registration (ZLA038AR000000***, TOXXXXXX). All original parts and components. Never rallycross events. The car running and is available for vision. Car available.
Stratos Rally Car '77 stock 0km
The Lancia Stratos will probably remain as the more charismatic car ever raced in Rallies, launched in 1974 in Groupe 4 they won the WRC in 1974/1975/1976.
This wonderful example chassis number 1937 is one of the very first Stratos raced by a private, having been first entered by it’s owner Mr Montaldo in the 1975 Rally Campagnolo. The car participated in a total of 15 Rallies until 1981, including international ones, the last race achievement was an excellent 4th OA at the Rally di Monza.
Art & Revs recently restored the body into it’s original Montaldo colours as it raced the Costa Smeralda Rally in 1978. A lot of attention was putted into keeping the rest of the car very original and unrestored.
An important history file comes with the car including importation file in France in 1981 a copy from all of the registrations, about 80 period pictures in race, press articles, invoices and various other documents.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a fantastic unmolested original condition Group 4 always maintained to the highest level. It’s the very first time in its life this car is offered on the market.
Stratos ’73 stock 0km
We are pleased to offer an outstanding, matching-numbers and fully documented example of one of the last and most powerful Lancia Stratos produced.
Chassis 24317 was delivered new to the USA on February 16th 1972 via Anders Motors, San Jose, California to Wilbur & Gayle Hunter of San Jose. According to the factory COA (Certificate of Authenticity) it was delivered new in Signal orange with Brown leatherette interior and in 1972 was re-painted and re-trimmed in sunburst yellow for concours competition.
BMW turbo 2002 73’ stock matte gray 50 km
With only four owners, this BMW 2002 turbo is finished in frozen gray matte metallic over the original black leather and has traveled only 50,000 km. This desirable Turbo with 5 speed close ratio gearbox an 169 bhp has a well documented history, including original registration papers, handbook and mechanical bills.
205 Turbo 16 Rally Car '85 stocksold
Official car given by Fond Motorsport to Ford Austria.
This car was entirely prepared on the basis of a naked chassis of a serial 200 with parts of the PTS kit. Subsequently it participated at the Austrian Rally Championship in 1986. It has been entirely restored during the last 10 years and hardly been used since. With only two previous owners this car is now in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. During the restoration, some valuable engine race parts were removed, like the dry sump, to fit another race car, so the power was limited to 345 BHP to keep a trouble free and reliable car
These cars are very prized by collectors with limited budgets.
This car is eligible for most of the historical events and comes with its original race documentation and road registration.
