Sound on the limiter....

Has anyone noticed that the sound of the cars on the limiter is ghey! Not the actual sound but the behaviour. For example, I was watching v8supercars a while back and on the straight when the cars are on the limiter in 6th just before they brake before the corner, the limiter causes the car to sound like a machine gun (such is how quickly it bounces of the limiter).

In GT3 it just bounced off very lazyly even with like a 1000hp car. You reckon its ghey or just not that big an issue. I reckon its very ghey...

When in 5th or 6th, it should sound like its hitting the limiter in 1st. Hope they fix that up in GT4....

It's not that big of an issue like you said.

PD, supposedly is going to change these minor suckies.

well said. sexual preference of both cars and ppl have no place here....

and as for your question, the sound has little meaning to me and therefore whether it is "fixed" or not is of little consequence.

If you gear a car to have tons of high-end torque, like the V8 supercars are, then it will sound like a machine gun. However, if you gear it for miniscule high-end torque, then you will get the bouncy bouncy that GT3 generally offers. The machine-gun sound can be obtained in GT3, but it is generally not a good idea because you will lose alot of your top speed. I hope this answers your problem.
 
If you want to hear that machine-gun limiter sound, just drive a high powered car until you are in 4th or 5th or 6th.....then quickly downshift all the way to 1st or 2nd...heck, maybe even just drop a single gear....then you'll get the machine-gun limiter sound....
 
And why worry about such a stupid nitpicky detail? Just about as pointless as worrying about blowoff valve sounds.

It just sounds awesome when you gear a car up so it just hits the limiter at the end of the strait and it sounds like you actually hit the limiter:). Realistic. Its not a huge issue though, but it would be more realistic

You'd actually lose less speed if it sounds like a 'machine gun' because your car would spend less time in the fuel/ignition cut and hence would be back in power quicker yeah?

Buy the way, I'm not after just the sound but the sound in 6th gear that I was refering to. When you set up a car well in actual life, you should be hitting the limiter for a very short time at the end of the main straights (according to a one Neil Crompton). This means that the car is perfectly geared (not too short of long) for the rest of the track.

Apologies on the inappropriate language too by the way....

PS I hate the sound of blow off valves (especially the loud ones). Much prefer the flutter of a blow-off valveless car ;)
 
the flutter is a blow off valve. its valve spring is just tightened more so it makes a fluttering noise. most modern turbo cars come with BOV anyway. usually in the form of a plumb back system. in NSW atmospheric BOV are defectable by the way.
 
Dude, that flutter sound is definetly not the BOV. You can get some blow off valves to sound like flutter (such as the HKS super seq) but its actually not flutter. Flutter is the sound made when the air coming back from the throttle hits the compressor blades man, tightening the BOV would mean that not all the 'excess' air is vented and hence goes back towards the compressor :)

In VIC, atmo BOV are also defectable. Plus, when your running higher boost than standard, they leak and cause all sorts of other headaches....
Plus, they dont cause all the damage that the BOV manufactures want you to believe but thats a whole another story
 
I like the little BOV sound, and yet I really hate it too sometimes. It's really annoying on the rally cars.
