I have a 5.1 setup with big speakers all around the only small speaker is the center.

Now when i'm playing gt5 i mostly hear the engine sound from the rear speakers and it sucks i don't know why but there is no punch to the sound.

But when i look behind me in game the sound comes from the front spreaders and its much better.

Has anyone else had this problem? Just want to know if its my setup or gt5.

Its very irritating knowing it could be so much better :p

i have a 5.1 too and you can hear from behind when the engine is from the back and exhaust too.. sound direction depends much from the configuration of your car.. when you have front engine or side exhaust you can hear from front and sub woofer too..

The for the reply but do you hear any difference between normal view and if you look back in cockpit view?

As someone else already noted, it depends what car you're driving.

I have 2.1 configuration and find the sounds much improved. Out of curiosity, did you try to change settings in Options>Audio?
There's Living room, Small theater and large theater if I remember correctly. Try to change these and see if there is an improvement.

Changing those settings makes a dramatic difference with 5.1 surround so I'd suggest that. I've also set mine up to enhance the db level of the rear speakers to accentuate the engine sounds which also helps.

Apparently my rear speakers are just not that good :p switched my front with the back and its much better now. I have no clue why but it just is :p

How about headphones ? anyone tried and which is the best headphones to get for this game. The sound from my speakers are very good but my gals are complaining that it's too loud. Any help is appreciated.

TQ
