So I was looking online, I cant remeber what exactly for, but anyways... Im looking and I come across a music list for GT4, and it has like, twice as many songs as in the game. And a found a bunch of other lists with the same songs. Now I know that if you dont go to the jukebox there are still some songs that arent turned on. (unless you turn them on) but the list i encountered has franz ferdinand and spiderbait.
SO my question is, did some of the music just get left out, were a bunch of sites wrong, or do you unlock more music as you go along in the game?...

that's a good question. although I extracted all of the 100+ sounds & songs off the GT4 disc and can now enjoy them in best 320kbit/s mp3 quality on my 7.1 surround system :) , I'd like to know that, too.

p.s.: did you know that polyphony even included the japanese instruction sounds from GT4 PROLOGUE !? I think they did this in order to make the game fit onto a DVD9 without using dummy files (which are easier to replace).

Franz Ferdinand & Spiderbait are both in the Euro PAL version... maybe its just your US version.

Much like GT3, the sountrack for each region was different.

Songs that PAL had, NTSC didn't get.

Copyrights, exclusions, lawyers....

Actually those aren't from GT4 Prologue, the Japanese version had audio commentary on each car in the game. Which was removed from the English language versions.

Oh and please be nice and explain how you ripped the audio from the disc, because I wanted to do this myself.

How'd you go about doing that?

Optical cable out of PS2 into minidisc then into Sony's Sonic stage on PC (or that's how I used to do it)

ok, optical cable might be one solution, but there are two reasons why I did not want to do it that way:
1. it takes hours!!! (cuz you have to record in real time!!! (about 4-5 hours), then transfer to your PC, cut the tracks and then re-convert) ---> 7 hours if you are fast
2. it is NOT digital recording (so there is a loss of quality)

I used a program to scan the GT4 Disc and then converted the resulting *.ss2 files to *.mp3.

If anyone here knows how to convert *.mus files to *.mp3, let me know ;)
I am currently trying to get the great SSX3 exclusive soundtrack to play. But it seems as if EA Games BIG in Vancouver used a slightly different *.mus format :(

P.S.: The program I was talking about is called Cube Media Player.

@ Messiah:
Why use a minidisc if you can directly record to your PC (using the otpical in)?

I seriously DESPISE the soundtrack

Even the short races drill into my head no offense to any indie music fans but my god WHY SO MUCH GOD DAMNED INDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be nice if one day a game is made with different soundtracks.

Imagine a GT4 with just dance music?
a GT4 with indie?
a GT4 with REAL METAL (not that nu metal drivel)

I know i could listen to a cd player or stereo but i wanna hear those engine sounds.

I can confirm that Cube Media Player will allow you to rip the music off the DVD. Some naming work is needed, but sure enough I have every song and plenty of audio files with some Japanese bird talking over the top (probably a license test).

If anyone wants a copy of Cube Media Player (almost impossible to get off their website) or wants to know how to us it, send me a PM.

Is this the soundtrack that you found online?

GT4 Soundtrack

The CD is "The Music From and Inspired by Gran Turismo 4" so it contains more songs than what was in the game.

I don't know how anyone could drive around with the GT4 sound track playing. I got sick of it the first day. :yuck:
I just removed all the songs from the playlist and now just put the CD player on random while i'm playin GT4. That way I don't have to hear the same songs over and over, and I actually hear the full songs. 👍

For a while I decided to switch the music used during races with the classical that's used for slideshows. I tell you, if you want to relax, racing to the classical music (accessed in the Jukebox mode) is the way to go!

They do say that listening to classical music helps you concentrate whilst playing. I remember being told that it can help if your revising for exams :)

Im not the biggest fan of indie rock but i think the soundtrack is awesome, it has some real fast paced songs (b for brutus by the hives) and some real slow paced songs (micheal by franz ferdinand) which gives the game differents experiences each race, also i reckon the soundtrack helps concentrate much much more than just hearing the engines, possibly because ur mind gets bored of the same sound over and over again....

thats just my opion though and we are all entitled to our own opinions....

I turn the volume for the Race Sound Effects up, and the Race Music down. I can't really listen to my own music while racing because I use GT4 on my Audio Receiver, and can't use my CD Player that's hooked up to it, but that's alright, I don't notice the music much anyway.
