I had this idea on the bus home today. I searched but haven't found anything that's the same idea as this, but if there has already been a thread the same format as this please link me/us to it :)

Ok, the idea of the quiz is simple. Someone gives a fact or a specification of a particular car and people try to guess what the car in question is.

I don't know whether or not to score the quiz and if so, what format to take. I was thinking something along the lines of:

3 points for guessing the correct car after only the first fact/spec
2 points for guessing it after the second fact/spec
1 point for guessing it after the third and final fact.

The problem with this would be that some people possibly couldn't think of 3 different facts and/or the ranking wouldn't necessarily be consistent. However, it's not really a proper competition (just a bit of fun  ) so points might not be that important.

If the game catches on and becomes popular at all then we could decide what to do in the future, but I'll start us off with an easy fact for the first 3 points.

This car produced a maximum of 627bhp.

The correct guesser asks the next question or can forfeit the right to ask the question for any volunteer.

Bingo 👍

Nope. Official top speed of the F40 was 200mph - not more than - and the Ruf CTR beat it for both speed and chronologically.

And I think the Panther 6 had an "official" top speed of 200mph, though had NO hope of getting there.

When it says '200mph' on the dashboard, and there's a needle pointing at it, it's over 200mph. Besides it's probably more than 200.000000000000000 mph. :P

Is that official as in Ferrari official, or testing wise official. Cause hell, supercars.net and wikipedia both state 201mph.

Hmmm, well, I wanted to get this right and Ferrari's official website lists the top speed of the F40 as "324km/h" (which as you no doubt know is just over 201mph).

I also looked at the CTR but could only find an official release for it as "Late 1987" or "at the end of 1987" and I know the F40 debuted at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show (wikipedia), but I don't know what date that was. I was taking a chance the F40 debuted before the CTR but don't know for a fact.

Ok...

What was the first American V8 to make 1HP per cubic inch?

Yeah, it was the '57 Bel Air and later, Corvette with the 283 V8

I've herd the same thing before (about the HEMI), and both sides claim that they were the first to get 1HP per Cubic Inch.

I'd have to say The Hemi, but because it was YSSMAN, I figured he'd say it was a chevy smallblock.:dopey:

So... Was that one a draw? If so, can I ask one?

This "Import fighter" was originally intended to have a rotary engine, but instead wound up with an underpowered, emissions choked straight 6.
