We love the idea of a new car for our birthday, and Ferrari clearly does too. So to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year, the Italian supercar maker is creating 60 unique cars.

Based on the 612 Scaglietti, each anniversary special will come with two-tone paintwork in colour combinations "as used on some of the Prancing Horse's most memorable models". Each car will represent significant milestones in Ferrari's history.

Inside, you get the typically sybaritic interior of the standard car, plus an enamelled badge on the centre console.

The best bit about the 60th anniversary Scaglietti, however, is the roof. Each car will come with an electrochromic glass roof. Like the roof in the 575 SuperAmerica, the opacity of the glass can be adjusted from full black tint to the slightest of shades, al at the touch of a button.

There's no word on prices for the cars yet, but expect them to be at least £200,000, if you’re offered the chance to buy one.

Come on, Ferrari, do something cool. You built the F40 for the 40th anniversary. The F50 was ten years later for your 50th.

I want to see a supercar, none of this silly special edition business.

Boring. The Enzo should've been released for their 60th birthday, called the F60, and the Enzo name should've been saved for something that was truly unbeatable - not that the Enzo isn't fantastic, just that it's not the perfect car that the Enzo name should be attached to.

When the hell is Ferrari going to release the damn all-wheel drive 612, by the way?

hmm, no change mechanically, not very interesting way of celebrating 60 years....

I think it is sad that they are wasting their time putting this special edition crap on the Scaglietti, of all things, when the F430 is the best car they have right now. This is about as much of a celebration of an anniversery as the 575M Superamericana that it copies was.

Yeah this is a bit of a disappointment. And I agree with Doug, perhaps the Enzo should have been delayed, hell, perhaps even the FXX.

I have seen quite a few enzoish looking concept pictures fluttering around in the last few years, so I almost assumed Ferrari was going to give us something realy crazy. Let's hope Ferrari has a bit of a trick up their sleeves.

It's still very early in the year, and Ferrari is one to keep secrets (aka the FX Prototype that was thought to be the F60).

They can say this now, but in 11 months, something else may be rising. Remember, Ferrari IS using the FXX as a test bed for what has already been confirmed as another super "Enzo".

I could just be a bit too tired, but I could swear Toronado & M5Power are speaking for me again....

All-wheel-drive could be the next greatest thing for Ferrari. When the Dino was created, it was the sub-brand used (partially) to debut Ferrari's mid-engined road car, since they were so against it both in racing and road form. I think that they should have stuck to post-Dino tradition and made the Enzo the F60 for this year, and made much closer to the FXX than what it ended up being. I also think that if they're going to experiment with all-wheel-drive, they should resurrect the Dino brand and make that the car with which to try new things out with. If it fails, then it was never a real Ferrari; if it's a success, they'll simply incorporate it 5-10 years later.
