Ok, this one is doing my head in, have searched for answers, but nothing comes up. (If you know a thread with specific answer to this sector (4), please direct me, if not, help me).

I've golded all of the other sectors, 1-2-3 and the full lap, but I just can't nail this one, I'm looking for 1.8 sec on this track and when I watch with preview lap, the driver has a much higher exit speed on every single corner and I can't find the speed. Especially the last corner onto the straight, he tops the speed when he reaches the hill, with 223 or 224 kmph, where I just manage to reach 219-220 kmph. That must make a difference!?

I'm trying to push hard, all assist is off except ABS on 1, and I just don't know what to do now!!!!! I'm using DS3, so if any of you that use a DS3 too, please could give me a new perspective on this test/sector, I would appreciate it!

I've spend close to 8-9 hours on this sector alone

I know there's plenty of threads about this event, but I haven't found anything on this sector in specific!

on the Galgenkopf try to stay INSIDE
same at little carousell

and after the pflanzgarten II before the Schwalbenschwanz try to break later than described...

Watch the Demo Video ... If you can do Sector 2 you can do Sector 4 easy.

I did this with the DS3. Firstly, set ABS to 10 and then set front brakes to 9 and rear to 8. What you need to do is go back over the demo video and watch how little the brake inputs actually are and then try and mimic that.

Left foot braking here is key (which is what the demo shows you) Left foot braking will allow you, on some bends, to do second gear corners in third gear allowing you to carry more speed through.

If the demo doesn't get you through then have a quick search on youtube or I'll make a video for you later if you want?

man, this just got nasty right here, shaved off 1 sec. but I was 0.383 after the gold time, helped out what you said Slatz, about breaking late in Schwalbenschwanz and staying on the inside in the last two corners.

Hig-GT, I will try your recommendations, if I can't make it within some time, I'll take you up on your offer with the video. Cheers for your help

I've seen the preview lap sooooo many times now that think I'm getting driving sickness.....

It is a bit tricky at first getting the balance right, I've been trying it for a few days and I haven't got the left foot braking down yet 100% but I think I'm getting there lol :P (I'm doing the same section in the wet later which should be fun :P)

(You've shaved time off though, keep going with it, once you start shaving time off you will definately get there soon! I learnt that from going for gold in the licenses, once time started being shaved off it meant I was finding the right lines and getting closer to the braking and throttle points etc. so you'll hit the gold soon enough)

not sure it is the same for this event, but on some licence tests the demo replay gets faster the more times you let it run. The first "loading" doesn't show a gold time, but if you let it repeat after watching it (not exit and re-select) it may show a quicker time.

Not much of a help but I was super stuck on the 4th sector in both the 300sl test (wet & dry) for ages. The places I found i was losing the most speed was Pflanzgarten and Galgenkopf. Galgenkopf in particular was the big one for me, you really need to attack it almost getting two wheels on the grass to make it as straight as possible. Tey and leave your braking as late as possible in the very last series of corners too before the start/finish line.

Ok, I think it would be nice to view your video..... :sly: I'm about to rip my head off here! I think I need to see some times on the track to measure with!

Just uploading it now ... I'll be honest, it took me another 20 - 30 minutes to beat the time again lol! Then finally beat it by 4 tenths I think it was, don't know how, you'll see that I'm slow through the karousel-like corner and then I completely cocked up the last section lol! Hope it helps though, just give it ten mins or so as my upload speed is poor lol :P

Right mate, here is my video, the first corner is a bit cut out, blame GT5 for the stupid replay function lol!

Cheers mate..... I'll let you know when, I manage to nail this sector....! Might take some time, but now I can see gears and time sectors.
Again, thank you so much for your help!

I know your pain, literally just finished this before I signed on here. Took me forever to get gold on that sector. As Hig-GT said, the key is to use minimal braking and dive right into the corners. For some reason the corners seem to "suck" the car in a creat magical grip. If you rake the outside line, forget it, you're off the track. Kind of pissed I spent over an hour on these tests though, all it gives you is a photo location. Pretty weak. Good luck.

No worries lol! Thanks for bringing this thread up, because I re-did it I actually beat it with a faster time lol, only did this by half a tenth first time around lol!

(If you need any help with anymore of the AMG Challeneges then send me a quick message and I'll do me best to help you out)

To add to the video I'll try to explain what I was doing below, may not be any use but its the last thing I can do to help lol :P

The first corner, as you can see there are little inputs through that corner brake wise, so here try to carry through as much time as you can.

The second corner again you can see little brake inputs, I used a dab of brakes just to turn the car into the bend and then accelerated through, again, I managed to carry through a lot of pace.

Down this straight stay across to the left whilst at full throttle ... At the end of this straight-ish bit, go over the jump and then use the brakes just to steer the car into the corner, again allowing you to get around in third instead of second, meaning you can carry more pace through.

Coming out of that right be full throttle, and stay full throttle through the next left and down the coming bendy section. At the end of that section is the right hander, here you can see I used the brakes to turn the car into the corner more, and then managed the throttle input to carry through as much pace as possible. sweep over to the right of the track for the next left.

Into the left hand corner, again use the brakes to turn the car and carry speed through in third, up to the carousel use the same idea as you did for the previous left, you can do this in third, I meant to do it in third but decided last minute to go for second which seemed to give me a good run out of the corner.

For the long right hander next, use the brakes to go from fourth to third whilst sliding the car slightly to turn it into the corner. Then full throttle through (you may have to lift slightly at different points in the corner, it depends on your entry)

Down the straight hug the left hand side of the straight, theoretically it should save you some time and you get a fast line through the fast left hander.

Fall down the hill at full throttle and then start to introduce some slight braking, brake very lightly around the first left and continue to light brake through the next right, then on the last left before you get into the slow right hander you will see on the apex that there is a bit of tarmac, aim to cut that corner slightly and brake early, ride the curb on the second gear right hand bend and then ride the curb on the left whilst on full throttle, for the final turn use the brakes again lightly to slide the back end round to point the car into the corner and then full throttle to the line, hopefully you will get sub my time if you get it spot on.

I did the run with all aids off except for ABS which I had set to 10, brake bias was 9 front and 8 rear. Auto box. DS3 Controller.

(It is worth completing the AMG Academy btw, you get some good cars, photo locations and some extra Nurburgring related tracks)

Also to add, I have completed all of the Academy now, I have some replays from the third section and all of my replays from the final section (both wet sectors) so if you need vids for those just let me know. I can make vids for the second section (dry with SLS) aswell so just let me know if there is out else.

I had the same problem on this sector for this level aswell, it was easily the hardest gold for me out of all the AMG school events.

I golded some other tests by quite a considerable margin, but this one had me baffled, I eventually got gold by just a few 10ths and was so relieved.

I was using a DS3 aswell, it took me so many goes at getting it.

Beware of in-lift (inside wheel spinning) as this car has no limited slip differential. Also be sure to squeeze every last rpm out of the engine. Automatic tranny shifts from 2nd-3rd gear around 100 kph while you can pull 115kph if you run it all the way to the cut-off. This helps a lot on some corners. Also if you get wheelspin in second you loose lots of time, try adjusting throttle input or give it a couple of pumps before flooring it. and rev the **** out of it :)

I think my eyes are starting puke this sector.... It scares me that I'm so consistent in being inconsistent, yesterday I did 9 hours on this sector, wth!? Closest I came was 0.321 of the gold time.... That's the area I'm stuck at for now.

But when my eyes has adjusted to reality, I'm going through all of your advices again and try tackling this sector all over..... I've even lost my sense of this being a part of the "Ring". Now it's just some stage like battle.

But one good thing have come out of this, I now know this track better than ever.....

Well, at least you are the expert through one sector at least lol :P

I think the first bit you are doing now is the hardest of the four sections so it is worth golding that sector you are on.

Then like some of us, you will begin to love seasonal events at the ring. ;)

All I can add to previous comments is try to stop the car drifting or squealing as much as possible. It is easy to scrub off speed and you just need to avoid that. The Ring does have some natural contours and lines (the 'mini' carousel in S4 is a good example) that make a big difference. Try to use as much track as possible to maintain speed.

I am going to take it as read that you ignore the game's driving line and braking points. My setup was DS3 with TCS 1, ABS 1, AS mild, ASM off.

How you getting on with this?

Still stuck.... I'm constantly 0.3xx after the gold time.... But, I'll keep on fighting for it. I'm starting to figure out the different parts of the sector now, I just need to connect it all together into one beautifull lap. At least there's some progress, thanks to all of the help in here. Much appreciated 👍

Still reading all of the different tips over and over.... Trying different setups and such. So, I hope it's just a matter of time now :sly:

First section is they key to this challenge.

Second corner can be cut a lot on the right side, you can then carry a lot of speed down that short high speed downhill part and gain almost a second. Then right after that its even more important corner. Very trickly double right after breaking that can be taken at much higher speed than what it looks. If you line your car right for the first part, you can drive full speed through the second part and everything else on long high speed part that follows.

ps. this guys videos helped me a lot on those challanges:

Oh Dear, 0.066..... Looks like some of your advices have finally sunk into to my brain, I'm finding speed from the most odd places, where I thought it wasn't possible.... Especially the 2nd corner, which has to be cut really hard!

So, guess what, I bloody well did it.... Cheers for your help all, much aprecciated  I'm so freaking happy that it all finally came together..... I decided, for some reason, to put on my Sergio Tacchini cap 💡 and said to myself, within 10 tries this sector will be done. I did it on my 7th try :gtpflag: Here's the video of it

AMG Challenge i really great. If you spend some efforts to gold it - it grants deep understanding of the Ring and you will love to race on it from now on.

Just to cheer you up, I found the "easy" part the hardest. You have to really learn to keep the speed and carry it through the corners, since this is a slowish (but utterly wonderful).
From now on, it will become easier and easier and you'll gold the advanced, expert, etc. in only a few tries.

I found the intermediate full lap the hardest to gold. The wet ones are much easier once you do two things;
- after a few miserable attempts I (for the only time in the licences) actually played the tutorial, I suggest you do likewise
- remind yourself that you are using comfort tyres in the wet

Oh, and the wet full lap times are much easier than the individual sectors.

Good luck.
