Ok I love my racing games/ simulations, but I'll be first to admit I'm not the best at them struggling to get golds on my licences and even some silvers :grumpy: but is it me or is the Karting races just too easy even on advanced after only a couple of goes I was first on both races without really trying. To say your in the same car (kart) I thought it would be a good challenge but it just seems too easy

I would agree with you, except for the last (the sixth?) race in the cart event. Here, you actually have to break in some of the corners for the first time.

On the other hand I saw a friend of mine spinning like crazy on the first race already. Setting the difficulty in a game must be developer's nightmare :)

The karting events are too easy because the tracks are too wide and corners not sharp enough. If the tracks were much narrower and were more complex then these events would be much more realistic. I thought the track generator would be able to make kart style tracks and you would race several races in an event, a you have to do is learn which corners you can take flat out and avoid the kerbs and that's pretty much it.

It's the most basic of the special events, I don't see any reason it shouldn't be easy. I had never had a GT game before this one and played the beginner stages pretty soon after getting the game, it was reasonably difficult at that stage in my playing and took a while to get the hang of driving the kart. The later races, after my driving improved, took a lot less effort but I still didn't just straight through gold them.

For a newbie I'd say the difficulty on the first stage was pretty ideal, it was just hard enough to take a number of tries for bronze, silver and gold and make me improve my driving without being massively frustrating like B-5 in the license tests.

I think the Karting events are just fine. There is something of a learning curve handling a Kart (certainly with a DS3) and by the time I got to the Expert ones I almost gave up as I was having a hard time with them. I did persevere and eventually managed to Gold them all.

Didn't find them too easy. Still working on last gold in advance. Mind you, I found it semi frustrating to having to always restart if you dropped back to far or were hit. That really killed playing that challenge for me.

I got frustrated with the Karts early on, quit trying, and I haven't been back! I kept spinning mine, either by myself or with an AI Kart hitting me in traffic. I probably need to go back and try them again, but they weren't at all easy for me the first time I tried them.

Simple solution. Stay on the throttle when you corner, you gain much more grip then. With the exception of the last one, most you dont need to brake for, axcept for like 1-2 tracks which have 1-2 corners you need to throttle off a little bit.

I agree, the karting events were too easy.
I do karting in real life and my brothers are harder than the AI!
And my brothers aren't that good...
It was nice easy money to start off the game though, but I would have definitely enjoyed a go kart championship of some sort.

I agree, the last race is pretty hard until you get everything just right.
But one thing is for sure, it's the first special event, maybe it's easy on purpose? 💡

Same for me co,mpleted Bronze Silver and Gold 1st race easily but Autumn Ring Mini is slightly hard.

It took me atleast 30 tries to gold autumn ring but i finally figured out where to brake and where not to brake without spinning out

Not to easy, i got gold on all fairly quick but someone like my brother who only plays games every once in a while will be pulling what little hair he has left out trying to gold the autumn ring.

I am glad they were not too hard. It made a good start to the game. Though it would be nice if some of the Seasonal Events included harder Kart races on more complex tracks..

..

I think the karting events that have been added are just a taster and have been made very easy both with AI competition and the handling itself.

If I recall, the PDI Kart is rated at 33hp, but the simulation is around half that which makes the rear end stay planted. A 100cc or 125cc kart with 32-34 hp is a real challenge to drive, so it's a little disappointing to see that PD have painted karting as an easy exercise that has seduced the casual gamer into thinking it's easy. I think it has been deliberately de-rated because a kart with proper power would create even more negative feedback from the casual gamers who aren't into racing.

Apart from the power, the handling is very good like the other cars.

Yeah the autumn ring race is tricky, but keep on it, you just need to (eventually) pick up the draft from the frontrunners, if you keep driving smoothly you will catch them, even if the karts behind stick with you. It's all about staying flat as much as you can, drafting as much as you can and if you use a controller, no sudden throttle/braking/steering in combination, especially if you are cutting the corners a little.

anyone with a wheel must be the same as me, all of the karting events way too easy.......such a disappointment, was hoping for maybe geared karts in the expert instead ended up winning by a country mile first try and the kart hasn't been used since....:grumpy:

(same goes for almost everything in GT5 just too easy)
