I've just picked up AC and I'm having trouble with some of these events.
Particularly the first one with the M3.
I'm consistently running 1:34s on semi slicks with all aids off.

I'm trying very hard to reset my mind after 15 years of GT, to get out of that rush the corner brake late driving style. It has worked slightly, I started running 1:37s.

Any tips, or help beyond "drive faster" , Would be greatly appreciated.

I was the exact same. The best I could do with a controller was 1:30 I think. I just got a wheel a couple of weeks ago, and after just a few tries I cracked 1:28 and then eventually 1:27.5.

Apparently the M3 event is just really hard. If you have a wheel (I have a T300), I suggest this guy's video. He's responded to a handful of my comments as well.

Basically, he has ABS and TC at factory, and stability control at 0%. He made some adjustments to the car as well. After following these set ups, I got to 1:27 I think. I still suck. It's still gunna take me a bunch of time to hit the gold of 1:25.

Good luck and let me know how you do!

I've been working through the events since I got AC 3 weeks ago. The difficulty scale is variable to say the least. Some are super easy (eg; Escort at Brands golded 2nd lap), some are, IMO, impossible (eg; M3 at Nurburgring).

The one above is middling difficulty... expect some much harder ones down the line!

What set up are you using? Do you have tyre warmers on, no fuel use, no damage, and aminimum fuel on board?

With road cars, I usually max front camber and zero the toe. After that, getting the tyre pressures (temperatures) right is critical - each car has an optimal tyre pressure for grip. I have a list of cars and optimal tyre pressures I got off the AC forum somewhere. I'll PM it to you.

This site may also be of help...

I'm currently running the T150.
It feels more linear to me than the G29.

I'll try all of this tonight after work.

Thank you for the replies, the video was great and those tire pressures are gold.

I really, really hate to upset you here but the Gold is a 1:24.**. You have to go under 1:25. I am stuck at about 1:26.2. The mindset is I only have to go a few tenths faster BUT in reality it is over a second.

For some reason I am really struggling with this event and get bored with it very quickly which is what I think the problem ultimately is.

The guy in the vid above does it without TC and you have to be easy on the throttle or it will spin, which I assume is because it is set up for drift as the title implies? If you use TC and you have over a certain degree of steering lock on then no matter how hard you hit the throttle it will give little or no power to the tyres which makes it very difficult. I did a 1:24,7xx yesterday by making the back step out a little, and I mean only a little, on certain corners so that I could unlock the steering and line it up to give me power to exit the corners. Important corners are entering the start/finish straight and also the entry onto the back straight. I have not tried it with TC off yet but I will give it a go later and see if I can match my first time.

try following this video guide, i use his videos mostly and they really help.

I take it that is from a PC earlier software version as the gold time is less than the current 1:24 that we have at the moment? The earlier versions had more grip as there is no way I can brake at the 50m marker on the back straight as I just go onto the gravel. I am on PS4.

No the times have been altered on PS4, this video was from earlier versions of the PS4 version.

I made a mistake. The gold is 1:25 or less and not 1:24 as I posted. So how does the video show 1:23 as gold?

It's an old video, delete the game so you don't have the latest updates and you will see why it is that time, there are more events that have had their gold times altered, at the same time the difficulty setting was changed, this is pre 1.9 update

On that particular event, the car is a 'drift car' and has some fairly major camber settings IIRC.

I changed it to more of a road/track set up. Pretty sure I got gold with TC on as at the time I had no force feedback with my G29 and feeling the rear breaking was impossible.

As has been said, speed on to the 2 straights is super important. The other piece of advice I'd give is to think 1 corner ahead on the left/right and the left/right/left at the end of the lap... don't push hard in the 1st part of the sequence... focus on keeping your lines smooth and carrying speed/momentum.

Ok. I see.
I didn't do any special events before 1.11 so I didn't know they changed the times but I did notice that I was about 2 secs slower in the Ferrari GT2 after one of the updates, not sure which one, maybe 1.10. I heard they updated the tyre model.
I just did some laps with TC off and knocked another 2 tenths of my pb so its quicker without TC but you need a gentle right foot.

OK I have just nailed this event. The video and setup helped (from the first video not second) but the main difference I made was turn TC OFF and pump the tyres up to 28psi all round. The car now is a lot more nibble and doesn't wallow in corners.

I hope this helps.

BTW if there is any confusion still the time on PS4 better than 1:25.

well done TT92, its not that difficult when you put in a few laps.
I am struggling with the Thunder event, Maclaren MP4 GT3 at Vallelunga, just cannot break the 1:35 gold barrier. I am about 2 tenths off so any tips from anybody that has done this event will be very welcome.

Just a word of warning. If you delete the game and have a lot of replays, you'll lose them all. Experienced it myself. :/

I must try that as I nearly broke 1:35 once in the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. A lot of driving.

I finally beat it last night. I did over 50 straight laps last night. And I think overall, I spent 200 laps on this event. It was worth it. I know this track well now.

My video:

I put the settings in the description but they're not showing up for some reason.

I used the settings from the video i posted, but I bumped PSI to 28 all around. TC and ABS at factory, Stability at 0, Fuel at 5, T300 wheel, stock pedals, tyre wear off, and then maybe a few other ones, but I'm not sure.

I did so well and felt confident that I beat the time twice in a row. The key is the first two corners. Hug the curb as close you can and don't go too wide onto the far curb when the turn is ending.

Good luck!

Edit: You can tell by the acceleration bar, I'm not smooth at the acceleration at all. That's why I needed TC at factory. If you're able to be smooth with the throttle, you can do this np without tc being on factory.

Thanks HavanaBOB, I think I tried your setup but no joy. I don't have a problem with the 650S its just this MP4 and not just at Vallelunga either. I will give it another go in a few days.

It is a tricky one. Give it a go after the next update, the new tire model is supposed to make the GT3s a bit quicker for us.

omg i've been referencing you this whole time and I didn't notice you posted above me. The legend!!! The saviour!

Happy to help! 👍

@HavanaB0B - I officially gave up on Thunder last night. I put in about 1 hour and best was 1:35,2xx
I looked at your lap and I matched all your apex times except for the first tight left hand hairpin (turn 6?) where you had approx 10mph more at lowest speed. I just couldn't get the line and steering lock right to keep my speed up and for sure I leave at least 3 or 4 tenths in that corner. Roll on 1.12 :-D

There are a couple of 'quick races' I'm struggling with...

1. R8 (road) at Barcelona - up against lots of 488/650's, which are miles quicker on the straights and in the corners
2. Lotus at Imola - it's an Exige of some sort, but the race includes a couple of 211's, which are several seconds a lap faster

If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it.

I was also struggling with the R8 (road) at Spa (also against 488's/650's), but managed to squeak that one by short-cutting Eau Rouge and Les Combes enough to stay ahead.. the R8 get's killed by the Ferrari and McLaren pretty much everywhere.

I'm a couple tenths of this even with Havana Bobs tune I don't think me and this track are ment to be lol

I feel useless! My best time was around 1:28:1xx... I'm not even into bronze yet :(

Keep trying! Do you have a wheel? This event I feel is all about the first two turns after the lap begins. I could do fine in the other areas, but as soon as I learned to hug the curb on the first two turns, my times drastically improved.

Yes I have a wheel but I didn't watch the guy's video nor tried his setup! I'll try later with his setup to see what can I do! Thanks for the encouragement :)

I'm still pushing hard and now doing much better, often winning on alien.
I've also got some pretty good setups up and running.
