Okay, so I embarked on this last night and breezed through the first test in about three tries. So I started thinking 'oh man this is a walk in the park' until I got to the second test.

Now I hate seattle reverse, but no track should take as long as this did. I kept hitting the barrier on the first turn (I was trying to take it really quickly) and had to do it over and over again. Then you take one corner near the end wrong and bingo - start again. Then I managed to get within a second, cool, then I managed to get within 45 thousandths of a second and I'm thinking 'all I have to do is beat my ghost car and I'm in' and THEN I'm on a totally hot lap and my flatmate comes in to tell me to turn the damn TV down, he distracts me mid corner and I missed it by 1 thousandth of a second!!!! RAGE!!! It took me another 15 minutes!! All in all I spent about 75 minutes on the bloody thing. This licence is going to take me a week at this rate.

Anyone else have trouble with this thing?

I just cleared all the normal (and rally) tests yesterday, and I was planning to take on the S-license tonight or this weekend. I have not tried any of the tracks yet, but If they are as hard as the previous games or even harder, I can forget everything about managing them. It toke me forever to clear the licences in the old games. But I found out that if I was struggling to much, I just needed to the forget the game for the day beeing and come back to it another day, and then I would manage the test without any problems. I did the same thing yesterday. I have been struggling with some of the A1 tests, and I just left them for some days, and played other parts of the game. But yesterday I tried once again, and I cleared the tests at my first go.

The hardest thing about doing the tests is knowing the tracks inside out....because if you don't learning them this way is going to be a very painfull experience as you've already found out. IMO you should leave the S-License for a bit and just get some race experience on all the various tracks. You can complete 95% of the game with the S-License so just wait a while. Once your familiar with the courses you'll breeze through S-Lic and go "God damn that was easy":D

Watch the replays a couple of times and try to pick up the braking and turn-in points - helps learning the circuit.

Good luck.

The worst one is where you struggle your time down to a tenth or two and get stuck for about an hour - and then suddenly go under by two seconds for apparently no reason. I hate that.

yea, the replay is very useful - I used it for a couple of braking points, but what I find most useful is following / outbraking my own ghost car.

I would just leave the licences till later, but I want that damn 787B everyone keeps talking about and I need to enter a race with the Special licence!! Plus I'm really, really stubborn and I want to get it done now.

Can't argue your motives - the 787 is a great car.

I thought Seattle II was the hardest test for the special license. Just too sensitive on the walls, It is a sweet course when you are breezing through it though.

You can get the 787B w/o the special license by completing 75% of the game. Do all the arcade tracks on hard for a while, this helped with my percentage.

75% is one thing, but thats nearly....hmmmm....27% away. I think the licence is the quickest way and besides, I need to get it done.

LOL I had this same problem. But I beat it. S-8 will make S-2 look like a walk in the park.

True - S8 was a b!tch as well. I got home early from work last night and was all set for a good 3 hours to crack a few tracks.

Surprise - S3 was a piece of cake, I did S4 or S5 (can't remember which) in one go! and breezed through (S7 is piss easy as well - two gos cos I screwed up the first) until the mother of all mothers that is S8. It took about an hour again. I got within a second and a half, then half a second, then 8 thousandths (again!! ) and then joy; under by nearly a second:) sweeet. Now I can go get my 787 tonight!!

I'm using auto btw cos manual just looks double hard.

I didn't know whether to be really pissed off that the Special licence was so inconsistent or happy that S3 through S7 were so easy that I did the whole licence in two sessions:reallyodd

Either way, I've now got my bloody Special licence so I can go race with the big boys.:burnout:
