Speculation on the 2013 Chevrolet NSCS car

As the title says, this is a thread for speculation of Chevrolet's 2013 Sprint Cup entry.


Chevy has already stated that the Impala will not be in the top series next year, and that a model that is currently on the showroom floor in America will not replace it. The more famous and likely replacement would be the 2012 Chevy Caprice, which I've seen in Police Trim, and is available as a captive import, so I don't think this will be racing.


I think the 8th-gen Malibu will replace the Impala. It makes a bit more sense, considering that the Malibu name has some success, but I seriously doubt it.


Anyway, at this time, all we have is speculation.

Actually they are using a completely new name, so malibu would be out of the question. They are going to probably use the SS name which is going to be based on the old pontiac G8 platform.

That's what the rumors indicate, GTPorsche posted this a while back in the Nascar thread.

Looks like the next Chevy for 2013 will be a Zeta platform US version Commodore, and there's a trademark filed by GM with the name "2014 Chevy SS Performance"

Maybe they'll use the "i30r" concept that debuted beck at the Detroit auto show in January. It's more thank likely too early in concept for anything of that car, but, it's a thought.

Surely any NASCAR/SprintCup car is only a Impala, or whatever, in name only. They may have a vinyl representation of the named cars grill and lights, and some possible side window similarities, but that's where the likeness ends.

I don't know about you guys, but I think they look awesome! Especially the charger. Good to see them represent the road cars more
