Race 2 -- Round 7 Road America (Deep Forest Raceway) Qualifying

speed-logo.gif

For qualification purposes I will give drivers until Sunday October 1st @ 7:59.00PM CDT to submit. Qualifications will be completed in Original Circuits -- Practice mode at the designated track (Race 2 -- Deep Forest Raceway.)

As in Race 1, I expect that 50kg of ballast is added to all entered cars. Because I am adding a few heavy hitters, no REWARDS weight is to be added to the cars based on Race One's results.

NEWS and NOTES:

Thundercat and the boys at Tri Point Mazda put together a good case for appeals court last Tuesday. As it stood, the car was not classified a finisher in the previous race at Infineon. Apparently, the car had completed 69.3% of the race winner's distance at the time of retirement. Unfortunately, according to series guidelines, to be classified a finisher the entrant must complete 70% of the race. Justice Ima Gearhead put it bluntly, "It was my duty to make a ruling. Coming away from both arguments, it was my understanding of the rule that the car in question needed to complete all 70%," he went on to say, "had he completed 69.9% I still would have ruled in favor of the SCCA."

The controversial ruling obviously hurts Thundercat as he goes after driver, team and most importantly manufacturer's championships, but he apparently brushed off the incident with no official comment. However, it is clear now that the arbitrator's ruling was the correct one. As the SCCA rule does not speak of rounding decimal numbers and the like, this appeared to be one of those freak-luck deals for Tri Point. "We'll move on to the next race," said team principal Jason Sandstedt, "there is nothing we can about it now. Just hope we're not put in another situation and pray the rule is clarified on those technicalities."

The series moves on to Road America at Elkhart Lake where the action is expected to be the best of the year. Among other big names, Audi factory driver Dindo Capello is set to start for the small Merlin Motorsports in an attempt to give a boost to the team and manufacturer.

Entry list has been updated. If you want to be astrix-ed as a confirmed driver send in your qualifying times asap.

What I need to do if try to figure out a way to get more speed out of the MAZDA 6--not only speed, but it handles like a garbage truck!
I need to figure something out for the next round or I'm toast.

Slight change: If you want to be confirmed as an entrant in this race, you can just post here, as slikaznricer did and you're in. BE SURE TO SUBMIT times though gents. I don't want to be racing myself!

Oh man! :ouch: :irked: Looks like I got some work to do in the main race to improve my position! I wouldn't mind having a little advice as to improving my car settings.:guilty:

uhh i definatly drive an RTR TSX not a BMW 325i -- 45 -- Flying Lizard Motorsports.....o well guess i got traded!

anywayss....heres a report i just made

NEWS
Speed World Challenge racer J.Nguyen has captured the pole position today after sitting out the first round. It was amazing how he was able to oust the dominating BMW 325i in the qualifications. "I couldnt have done it without my crew and my teammates CAMikze and Peirre Kleinubing. Also a shoutout to Nathan Bonneau for setting up an amazing car for my driving style." states Nguyen.
"We had to re-tune the entire car to fit his driving. Out went the old Physics book and in came a whole new chapter in car physics. He drives with in the most awkward positions. he pushes the car overly hard and brakes late into everycorner. His entry speeds may be a little slow on harder corners but his exit speed is amazing. He told once that he'd rather set himself up for the straight or next corner with blazing speed than go fairly fast around the entire course." says Crew Chief Mike Busalacchi.
When we caught up to him to ask him of his driving style he quickly dismissed all questions. "All I have to say is that people's driving is an art. Everyone's skilled to a certain degree. It's not something to be taught by someone else, but something to be taught by yourself. other people are only there to guide you in the right direction. At first I used to study Cunningham and Klienubing all the time. They taught me the basics and I grew upon that. I saw their driving style and modified it for my own. And apperently it pays off!"
Nguyen will be driving the RTR TSX until the end of the season and will make a stronger appearance in the next season. At the end of the interview we asked him about his absence in the first race. He responds,"I couldnt make it because there was another event I was participating in. I am the Driver for the Fortune Kageishin RX-7 in the Super Taikyu racing series. There is a current break in the season at the moment so i took the opportunity to come back and race here. From what i hear some of the manufactures are looking for some drivers. The season would really be great if there were more drivers in the ST5 and ST3 classes. I recenty had to retire my ST5 car because of an accident. Every try 11000 RPM in a 10000 RPM max car? It blows...."
After the interview they said that Nguyen went back to the tracks to practice some more. It was heard that he is looking for the final date for the race because he does not know. Funny how a racer does not know the date submission for his race.

im sorry but this is quite funny.....i love how you spelled my name...slikazanricer..lol:)

Nitro and Chris (Ford_Fan) you're both in. As for the race thread. I'll get that up by midnight central. I got pulled away to do something more important than GT4 this weekend (more important than GT4? I didn't know it existed either!) Anywho, I'm back and right now my sister is watching some girly show on what I like to call "my GT4 T.V.", she promised she'd be done by 11 so.... hold your horses. Also, thinking of a touring car series different than World Challenge. Would anyone be interested? Nitro, I know you tried a super touring car series in the LRS forum so if interested you can co-steward the event with me.

Well, I submitted my time. I guess with Piedgros being away and all the series is on a hiadus of sorts. If you guys want to I'll be glad to take times and complete the series for m.

I also discovered that you also need a "S Liscence" in the game to take part as a driver. Looks like this tough nut just got a little harder to crack for me. :ouch: But I won't give up just yet. I got three more tests to pass (and tough ones at that:scared:) before I get the "S Liscence" and race.;)

For the heck of it, I did the race with my car in B-Spec mode and it finished more than a lap down. :boggled: The cars in that race took no prisoners, that's for sure. I hope I can do better behind the virtual wheel.

i tried the race on R4 tires.....OMFG i was in 3rd place about 2 secs behind the Ford GT LM car......then the in-evitable happened.....my tires were over shot....imm try the race again on R3's

Sorry slik, you need to be running Sports tires. As in World Challenge the Toyo Proxes RA-1's are DOT rated road tires, meaning they have tread. Admitedly, less tread than on GT4, but I'm trying to keep it real here.

m.piedgros

This series looks interesting. I could do it in a couple different cars--I think the RSX is looking like the fastest from the allowed mod list...

One thing I don't understand, though--why are you guys running in the dream car championship?
