So, onto the third iteration of my photomode gallery! Unlike my GT4 days I can't say that I used the photomode a lot in GT5 as I was too busy enjoying the driving! However, now with more real circuits that I actually enjoy you should hopefully see a lot more from me - albeit they may be a bit race car biased...

For those who don't know, which I'm assuming will be most people, I work in the motorsport industry and am a accredited photographer for various different media outlets. Mostly specialising in GT racing and Endurance. In 2013 I followed the Blancpain Endurance Series on it's whistle stop tour of Europe and also the British GT Championship (as well as popping to Le Mans and the N24). If you're interested, my real life photography is here.

I'm sure to update this post sooner or later with a pretty banner, so I'll leave it at that for now. Anyway, hope you enjoy...

First update and a few first impressions of the photomode...

This first update is very GT3 based! I spent all year photographing these cars real life counterparts so couldn't ignore them. Shame there aren't a few more real liveries (particularly on the Merc) but hey-ho.

I'm having a bit of a weird glitch in photomode though. It appears that when pointing the camera towards a light source, for example bright headlights, the lens flares become strangely shaped as squares. This also happens on the sun too occasionally...it's a bit weird - is anyone else experiencing this at all? It's ruined a fair few of my shots...

I think this is simply how the rendering engine works. This was also in GT5, although to a lesser degree. Awesome shots, by the way!

#2 it's simply awesome!!!! :drool::cheers:👍

Cheers!

Shots 1 and 2 are brilliant!

Thanks T-12, was really pleased with both. Lighting seemed to come together nicely. 2 is actually a shot I've taken in real life too, and is essentially a slight variation on this angle.

Pictures one and two are well thinked.

Thanks.

Ah I see, I never noticed it much in GT5 to be honest, this seems to be a much more exaggerated effect. I'll try and post some examples of it next time it happens.

Photo 6: I already saw that GT-R doing that before =D.

Waiting for BMW Z4 shots! Audi R8 LMS liveries would be cool too.

Haha yes, I was thinking of that shot when I took it - although tried to put my own spin on it. Z4 shots will come soon enough, just gathering them all together! Maybe the R8 too when I can afford the Bilstein one.

Anyway, couple more shots. Bit more random but mainly based on the Quattro challenge at Goodwood.

1 and 5 for me, but I think it's time for you to stop.

Always looking for some great inspiration whether it be angles or otherwise and this just goes on the list.

Awesome gallery is awesome, such good eye for photography dude, I'm astonished with these photos, all of them, keep going! x

2,3 and 4 are great.

Do you have them in larger format? Would love to see them full screen.

Haha thanks! No chance of me stopping anytime soon I'm afraid... :)

Cheers and will do!

Thanks for the compliment, and certainly. I upload all my shots (plus a couple more) in full size onto my dedicated GT6 Flickr account, I'll make sure that I link to them in future.

Here's the link...http://www.flickr.com/photos/110866375@N05/

Aw man that first Quattro shot  Do you perhaps have a larger version of it? My wallpaper needs to be changed :sly:
The lighting is just spot on !
Love the realism in all of your shots, keep going !

Great set, #1, 3 and 5 are my faves

Cheers!

Loving your work sir!

Thanks. :)

Awesome lightning in the last shot! Great sense of speed too. ;)👍

Cheers, really liked that particular spot the lighting seemed to be just about perfect! Really wish they'd let you drop the shutter speed below 1/60th...although I think that's me being picky!

Haha, thanks! And yeah certainly, I'll be making sure to put up links to the full sizes in future, but here's the link to the full sized shot here.

I'm sure I've said it before (probably back in your GT5 gallery), but your real life photography experience so clearly influences your game work, and it really brings an added dose of realism. Just a pleasure to look at 👍

Great to see you back! As always a great display of solid compositions that show your grounding in real race photography. So far you've certainly delivered some nice stuff, great angles and depth and use of light. 👍

I'm liking shot 2 of the first batch as many have already highlighted, but I also quite like 4 and 7 too. 👍

And from your latest set, the last 2 are very good indeed. 👍 Keep up the awesome work, I'd like to see more of you this time around. ;)

Really great composition in most of your pics, we can see you are a real photographer (I've took a quick glance to your irl work, it's really impressive 👍)
For this reason I like a lot the shots 1, 2, 4 & 5 of the first bunch of pics. And the warm light in the last one is beautiful :)
And I like each shot of your last bunch. Great use of b&w for a very contrasted pic with a beautiful light in the first one. Superb composition for the second one. The sense of speed and the light in shot 3 & 5 are excellent. And I love the lightning and the contrast of the R8 one.
Great job mate !

@SlipZtrEm Thanks man! Hopefully it'll continue to impress you!

@GPR Cheers, I'll try to stick around a bit more this time - atleast until the real motorsport starts getting in the way again. :)

@Kodje Thanks, really glad you like the real life stuff too. Always nice to hear a compliment!

So, I've been playing a bit more of GT6 and couldn't resist purchasing the Diablo GT2, always had a soft spot for this car and was my favourite racing Lamborghini for years. Surprised how much of a handful the car feels at the moment, certainly difficult to get a clean lap in without the back end stepping out of shape. Also as you'll notice I'm running the optional aero package on the car - just a little bit prettier without the circular roof mounted air intakes.

I decided to take it to the new Ascari circuit, it's not a track I'm particularly familiar with but the lighting is pretty nice and it's certainly one of the better looking tracks on the game. Hope you enjoy!

The car looks so much better with the optional aero package! I had no idea it had one.

The last two are my favs from this update.;)👍 Great shots overall mate, however I think the colour banding in the sky is a little distracting in some of the shots; what has been seen cannot be unseen.

Thanks and agreed! Was trying to figure out how to fix the banding issue earlier but couldn't think of a decent way to clean it all up. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

What editing software are you currently using?

Currently switching between a bit of Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5.5. I know my ways around both but can't figure out the best (and easiest for that matter) of just smoothing it all out without having to redraw the gradients.

Well, the method I use in Photoshop CS6 requires the use of the mixer brush which is available in CS5 upwards. I basically create a new layer on top of all the layers, and have my soft brush set to: Hardness 0% | Wet 65% | Load 12% | Mix 100% | Flow 100% | Tick the box with "sample all layers."

I then alt click to select the area I wish to paint (this loads all the colours in the selected area into a mixing palette), and brush over the colour banding like a regular brush. It maintains the tones you selected and smooths it out really well. Just remember to paint in the direction in which the colour banding/tones tends to flow. (Note: I alt click each time before I go to brush to load up a fresh batch of tones; also ctrl/command z if you make a mistake).
