I really want a sports game for the PS3, I've got racing and shooting/violence games but want a sports one. I used to play PES a lot, but feel I fancy something different from football.

I've heard good things about NBA 2K9. What's Tiger Woods 2009 like?

Haven't played either of those two games, but I do have Tiger Woods 08 and I imagine its not much different from 09, I had fun with it but it does get a bit boring after a while I found. You may want to try NHL09, I know hockeys not very popular in the UK but I really liked it and its really fun, and its also one of the highest rated PS3 games.

If its just sports you want , go with older games, they are cheap and there isnt much difference year to year besides roster. I have NBA 2K7. It was cheap and its a great b-ball game. no desire to play a new version every year.

I know you don't wanna play Football (soccer) game.. but really try the new EA soccer game... I hear it's more SIM over the PES series..

NBA 2k9 is fun but far from perfect. It's the only game i've played where having open ports on your router actually matters. If you don't, you might never host a game online and might never be able to play as the home team. The "team-up" online game type is great fun, playing with up to 5 other players on your team versus up to 5 players on your opponents' team, but there is a permanent lag that will essentially have you performing actions about 2 seconds before your player actually does them. Jump shots are almost impossible.

The graphics are top notch i think, but the menus are utter crap. They look like they're from a PS2 game, but then again 2k is fairly notorious for that.

The Association mode is still very fun, and they've added new features such as Bird rights (a real-life contract consideration in the NBA). And the drafted players are finally life-like. They even look a good deal like their pictures do.

I'd say that overall, 2k9 would be a pretty decent purchase. You can pick it up for $40 right now, and 2k10 won't be coming out until late October/early November.

Hope i could help. 👍

Golf - Tiger Woods games '08 or '09 ( not much difference between the two though )
Baseball - MLB-'09 due out next month , played '08 it's cool , '09 should be just as cool
Football - it has to be Madden , EA has NFL locked in for I think 2 more years ( boo hiss , don't like Madden. Ahhhh , there is a college football game out there , forgot , NCAA 2009 Football , not bad at all
Basketball , Hockey , can't tell you , don't really care for either sport a whole lot.
