Spot Race LXXVI - Laguna Seca Reverse

The Track: Laguna Seca Reverse (It's not available in normal play, so choose Laguna Seca)

The Car: Arcade S-Class Viper GTSR Concept

The Race: Arcade Normal (3 laps, though you won't even register one lap)

The Rules / Directions:
-You will start in 6th position. Upon start, have 100% throttle, and full-lock left turn. This is neccesary to ensure "turnaround time" is equal. You WILL hit the left wall while turning around. There is no penalty for this wall-hit.

-After turning around, drive in reverse direction for 1 lap (you will pass the AI head-on once), until you cross the finish line. At this time, exit the race, and save your replay. (replay will read 0'00.000)

-To get your "lap time", watch the replay and pause immediately upon your front bumper crossing the finish line. This will be you "lap time". (I realize there's margin for error here. Just get as close as you can to your time when the front bumper crosses the finish line. If you hold "X" while watching the replay, you will be looking at your cars front bumper.)

-When you see the AI coming up on the map, stay right. This will help to avoid any collisions.

-Attempt to drive 100% clean with 2 wheels on the track at all times. Add one second to your lap time for each off-track excursion.

-Replays or detailed race descriptions may be requested if the need arises. XPS, SPS, and MAX file formats are all accepted.

Discussion: Discuss anything relating to the race other than your total time. Obviously there will be no T-times, so the alternative will be the time that you meet the AI (and which AI car), if you wish to post this.

Time Submission / Deadline: Email your time to eggmann%@%excite.com (exclude the %s), or send me a PM, by 23:59.999 Eastern (New York) Time, Sunday August 1st (GMT 3:59.999, Monday August 2nd).

Special note: This is the current race in the GTBN Spot Race series. I am posting it at a couple of other boards to stimulate participation, and will post the cummulative results on each board. Normally at GTBN, the last place finisher posts the next race, but since you may not be a member there, you are exempt from this stipulation should you finish in last place, unless you want it.

This is interesting...

Had to give it a try. I actually like Laguna better in this direction. First try I met the AI at the apex of the right turn at the bottom of the downhill after the corkscrew. Instant stop!! Next time around, I met them on the following straight (49.7 sec), and they were easily avoided by staying right.

Thought I remembered running in a similar spot a while back, using the pit lane for the turnaround, and sure enough:

Torc; Crazy Hot Lap Spot Race (Nov. 2002)

Welcome HT! I only have one clean run so far, passing the XJ220 at 48.650. Mr P's at 47.1  already over at TRL, but he doesn't say which AI car. ;)
