I feel bad for spamming the hybrid photo threads with my hybrids so I'm just starting my own thread here. I make a wide range of cars, but mostly wheelbase and track fit chassis swaps and realistic engine swaps, though I also love trying to make cars that aren't in the game. It should be noted, I'm working on GT5 version 2.11.

*Edit*- Just a little side note so I don't need to explain it. I make a lot of race car chassis swaps because the downforce values for a car are attached to the chassis. Therefore I can use racing chassis to make road cars into race cars with ingame, fully adjustable, downforce.

For all my old hybrids' videos check here: https://www.youtube.com/user/LlamaMster/videos

Top Class Saloons

BMW 760i '08 build

  • Base car: BMW M5 '08
  • 120% of original weight
  • BMW Z4 M coupe 6 speed transmission swap
  • McLaren F1 engine swap, the BMW sourced S70/2 engine actually closely resembles the newer BMW N73 engine found in the '08 760i, sharing updates such as 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing.
    • You can detune the engine to 75% via hybriding and get it closer to the 438 hp that the N73 produces in the 760i, but that limits the torque greatly. I recommend using the in game power limiter set to 68.7% with oil change.
  • Stock Specs
    • 6.0L V12
    • 438 hp@4900 rpm (68.7% limiter with oil change)
    • 483 ft-lb@4700 rpm (68.7% limiter with oil change, in real life the 760i makes 444 ft-lb of torque)
    • 2226 kg
    • 488 pp
Personal notes: Out of the hundreds of hybrids I've made, this one turned out as well as the best of them. The car pulls powerfully and smoothly as expected from a large luxury saloon, it handles very well for a car of its weight, and the V12 has a great muted rumble with the stock exhaust

Finishing out my run of luxury saloons. Performance and handling wise they feel spot on. Sadly they suffer the same issue as many cars in Gran Turismo 5, vacuum cleaner sounds with stock exhaust (The Mercedes at least sounds good tuned)

Audi A8 W12 '05 build
  • Base car: Audi RS 6 '02
  • 117% of original weight
  • Audi TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro '03 6 speed transmission swap

  • Stock Specs
    • 6.0L W12
    • 450 hp@5900 rpm (72.8% limiter with oil change)
    • 457 ft-lb@4700 rpm (72.8% limiter with oil change, in real life the A8 W12 makes 428 ft-lb of torque)

  • 132% of original weight
  • Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (R230) '04 5 speed transmission swap
  • Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (R230) '04 engine swap
  • Stock Specs
    • 6.0L Twin Turbo V12
    • 604 hp@4600 rpm (98.2% limiter with oil change)
    • 752 ft-lb@2500 rpm (98.2% limiter with oil change, in real life the S65 AMG makes 738 ft-lb of torque)

This seriously makes all my other hybrids look tame. It's crazy fast, sticks to the track, and wails like a banshee. Completely epic, if totally unrealistic.

Renault Avantime '02
I don't know what Top Gear was getting on about. I had no problems beating an Evo X's time around the Top Gear Test Track in a Renault Avantime... that had the drivetrain (AWD) from an R35 GTR... and the chassis from the Mazda RX-8 LM race car weighing 892 kg... and the engine from a Z34 Fairlady making 710 hp and 513 ft-lb of torque.
(For those who are wondering, the Evo X did a 1.28.2 around a lap. My Avantime, managed a 1.09.2 from standing start.)

We all make mistakes and my hybrids are no exception. While trying to make an Accord touring car I accidentally slammed and "extreme stanced" the heck out of it. Personally I can't stand pointless camber, but for those who love it, I figured I should share my results.

Always nice to make a hybrid where all the swaps are within the manufacturer. Especially when they make this beast of American muscle. I may not be a NASCAR fan, but the 5.9L V8 they use is one of the best sounding engines in GT5 and when fully tuned it roars up to 10,400 rpm.

Great driving car and the Insight swapped engine sounds really good, believe it or not.

Now THIS is proper stance. Just a little useable camber and a great wide stance with the tires tucking just under the wheel arches. No ridiculous, useless camber.

Another great one manufacturer hybrid build. All the pieces come together to make a very natural feeling muscle/race car.

This is a really cool thread, keep up the awesome work!

It has also inspired me to go back on GT5 to make some hybrids, could you give any tips on creating the best outcomes?

Personally I always keep to manufacturer engine swaps, which can include tuner and race car engines, such as the HKS engine in my Evo or the Chaparral 2J V8 in my Corvette. Other than that I usually try to keep the weight and power of my cars between 800 kg-1100 kg and 500 hp- 1200 hp. I made a list of all the race cars' chassis in GT5, which really helps me with making race cars. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MpcpKsTpOJFvEQDqzGFsi5rmC8ne7xNxSyfCuW3R3Qw/edit?usp=sharing

As far as chassis swap fitment goes, I'd say never swap a chassis that has +/- 50 mm or more in wheelbase difference.

Hope this helps you out a little. Happy hybriding!

Hey, you mind posting the ride height and camber angle too? I like how that RS6 sits and a few other cars you posted. Thanks :)

I put every car on the lowest ride height. For any car I never use more than 5 degrees camber in the front and 4 in the back. Usually they fall somewhere between 2 and 3 front camber and 1 and 2 rear camber.

Have you ever really REALLY wished Isuzu had an LMP1 class race car? No? Yeah, well me neither, but if they ever do, they should make it like this, the 4.2L Lotus designed V8 sounds great and the R8 chassis makes a great racer.

Tuesday Hybrids (18/11/14)
Sad to say, but this is likely one of the last, if not the last day, of hybrids I'll have. With me picking up GTA 5 for my PS4 today, and me selling my PS3 and games this weekend, this will be the last few hybrids I make.

We all make mistakes and my hybrids are no exception. While trying to make an Accord touring car I accidentally slammed and "extreme stanced" the heck out of it. Personally I can't stand pointless camber, but for those who love it, I figured I should share my results.
