Right first of all lets get this clear I'm not talking about the quality of the model as ofcourse premiums are better but the cars themselves. I'm strongly belive standards are the bets just think about you have things like the strato, audi r8 01', classic rally cars, old le mans cars. I could make a massive list but I won't and I willl even say this I love classic cars now and it is all down to playing on gt5 with these old cars. If gt5 didn't have the premiums in it I could live with it but if even 200 of the top standards went I would sell it!

what do you think?

do you have the standard fever?

Since they've implemented the in-car view, I've pretty much spoiled myself with premiums. And for the most part I thoroughly enjoy driving using the in-car view. Granted, with the chase camera view, I can see my surroundings better, and get a better racing line in and out, but it's just that rush while driving in-car, that you don't get with the chase camera.

Regardless, I'm all for standard. There are way more of them in the game, a lot of them are awesome.

I barely touch my premiums. My standards get a lot of love though, probably due to the amount of them in the game. I also use roof cam, so it isn't a big deal to me if it has an interior or not.

And it's hard to speak generally. The best Ferrari's are premium (no other option), the best RUF's are standard (no other option). Overall though definitely more variety, more race cars, and more rare cars available as standard models.

If I could add rims to standards I wouldnt even touch premiums as much
I just want rims and recolor rims for standards

Most of my favourite cars in real life are standard cars in GT5, it's a pity they look the way they do, some are not that bad though, but the lack of wheel choice really is a killer for me. Maybe they should have called the premium cars standard and the standard cars substandard:)

Finally, people who understand how great Standards are, like I do.

The actual cars are better, but looking at them makes me sad.

- Looking at them make me happy, they stand out, in a good way, in my opinion.

So this is about the selection of cars then, so the title of this thread is a bit odd to be honest.
Some of the cars selected to be Premium are a bit weird in my opinion given the limited range available and the car diversity and sheer quantity in GT4 was truly amazing so ofcourse there are probably more Standard cars I'd like to see become Premium than actual Premium cars available right now.
Does that make Standard cars better? Nah, they only remind me what I'm missing (by which I mean ofcourse those models being available as Premium and to be experienced as proper current gen assets, ahem, cockpit view).

You're asking if a pool of 800 cars has more cool cars than a pool of 200.
If I had to guess I'd say more of my favorites are standard, but that's just statistics.

But hes something I would say I could have a list of 200 standards that is miles better than the 200 premiums!

Because you can choose between 800 in one hand, in other you ONLY have 200.

Personally love much standart cars.

Can't really vote since there's no option "some standards are better, some premiums are better", or something like that :)

Of course, there are 800 standards vs 200 premiums, so the standards have a bit of an advantage there.

I used to always race with bumper-cam, which meant I didn't really care about standard/premium... but then I figured out you could change the viewing angle in cockpit view, which meant I could actually see where I was going. Now I'm hooked on premiums :S While there are some standards I really like, there are also loads of cool premiums. I just wish they'd made the models slightly less detailed so they could have given us all premiums... Don't even need 1000, 500ish would be fine if they'd scrap useless duplicates.

I was going to be quick to jump in with my thoughts that Stadards are cooler. But each time I get into the New Car Dealerships and browse those cars, I'm reminded of how many great cars are in there too. So while I definitely race more Standards, at least right now, I think it's just a matter of there being a certain - and roughly equal - percentage of cool cars in both classes.

This one is standard

This one is premium

That should make things a bit easier :p

If you randomly selected a standard, and compared to a randomly selected premium I doubt I would have a preference one way or the other.
I could probably go through the list and pick 5-600 or so standards I don't care much about. Based on a percentage, I'd say I like premiums more. But more of my favorite cars are standard.

I am faster using cockpit view, so Premiums.

But there are many awesome Standards like the Escudo, GXR-4, Caterham, Minolta, C9, GT-One to name a few. Even if they had a generic cockpit view like GTPSP, I would be using them even more:D

I always have a fear that when Kaz says some Standards will be Premiumized, he will give priority to the Skylines and Miatas:banghead:

I play GT for the racing. I really don't care whether a car is premium or standard as I don't use the "interior" view. I pick whatever car I want to use based on its characteristics as a racer not whether it is a standard or premium.

Other people put different emphasis on what they do and I understand why they might prefer the premium cars.

I feel the standard cars are just more special, it's nice to know very few people own the the Honda CR-X, and I can drive it knowing I won't see another behind me.

Standards all the way for me. I have a decent amount of premiums, but my favourite cars to drive are all Standard.

I know they don't photograph as well, but for car selection they win.

I have been saying this all along. The fact is, considering online and offline, Standards are just more special, They have alot of fans perfectly ok with them including me, Not many people care about the interiors, i have seen tons and tons of standards and people bragging about them trading them, begging for trades... So far my Garage is 28 premium, 130 standards... The standards are just more special, I think thats why they have such a high desirability... I think PD knew what they were doing...Because honestly if the game had 200 premium cars...it would be seriously boring.... I love all standards....Granted some look ridiculously better then some, I honestly thought going online ide see no standards....But man i was wrong, and alot of other people for that matter..

Another thing about graphics, The standards visually are up to current console generation standards in regards of lighting and reflects and the 3d wheels and seeing the driver and his animations add a nice touch.

I just don't understand why some look much better then others.
