My apologies if this has been posted before, but I've literally had some people ask me (ok, none have asked me :sly:) why the Chrysler Prowler '02 is a standard car when it has a fully modeled interior WITH working gauges.

Thoughts? I believe it should be a premium car. It's modeled like one already.

Are there any other standard cars like this?

It does NOT have working gauges. No standard car has working gauges..... Please take another look! ANd yes these threads exist already.

Wow blown away!

I know the view got updated but that's the first time I'v seen the gauges move? I drove the Caterham a few weeks back(in car view) and the gauges didn't move then. I don't think it's been that way for a year?

But cool, it's news to me.:dopey:👍

PD gave all Standards a 'cardboard box' interior view. However, you can't give a convertible this style of interior, so they were forced to give the convertibles (or roof-less cars) a half-decent interior. Other cars include the Caterham and some LMP cars. The results weren't half bad. :)

I still love that when I'm in the BMW V12LMR in 3rd person view the wing is all dented up/black and in cockpit it looks brand new.

 Never noticed that happening. I suppose it would help if I could actually afford the car in the first place. :p

All opentop cars basically got a cockpit camera viewpoint using the Standard modelled textures already present (so no working dials) and possibly a newly modelled (or visually upgraded) steering wheel in some, if not all, cases.
Apart indeed from the Prowler which received a completely (albeit still of lesser quality than a Premium car) remodelled interior, including working dials.

Maybe they tried to do that for every opentop car but found it took too much time or, and this is my guess, the Standard interior of the Prowler looked so bad up close (as the interior modelling looks a bit more 'off' to me than most other opentop Standards viewed from outside) that this was the only way (and they might as well have added working dials whilst they were at it).

Given how poor the interior textures on some opentop Standard cars still look (whilst some like the 2J look almost Premium quality) and assuming my theory is correct, it must've been pretty bad to start with.

The only gaming difference I have noticed between standard and premium, is that only a premium model can be race modded, for the cars that can be. Other options are available for the premium cars that are not for the same standard car. Examples:

The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ’69. You can add the carbon hood, and Aero Front to the premium, but not the standard.

The Lotus Elise 111R. You can add the carbon hood, the aero front, and extension to the premium, but not the standard.

The TVR Tuscan Speed 6. You can add the carbon hood, the aero front, aero rear, and extension to the premium, but not the standard.

I'm not reading replies before jumping in here.

The difference between Standard and Premium isn't whether or not they have interiors. Standards are last-gen models of poorer quality while Premiums were built for GT5. Why is this so bleeding difficult to understand? I got this years ago.

I got something a bit of the opposite. The Premium GT Acedemy SpecV GTRs ('09 and one that came as a download) don't have premium style damage, they warp a bit like standard cars do.

For proof go to IB - 1 license test with the gtr specV 09 and rub the car against the invisible wall on te right. It warps so fast you can SEE it distorting triple-time.

TRY IT
