Now as i understand, its not possible to change the wheels on the 800+ standard cars right?.

Q: Does anyone know if there is a known reason for this?.

The cars were ported from GT4 to 5 right?, but in GT4 you could change the wheels on all the cars.. so am i the only one who does not understand why they didnt also port the ability to change rims?.

I love GT, but a LOT of cars have oh so ugly rims, and i would most times change the rims to a Volk/Rays rim, that alone would change the appearance a lot to make the car a lot more attractive for me, and its a shame that now were gonna be stuck with the car`s default rims.

A: Unless I missed something, there was no reasoning made known about why we cannot change the rims on Standard cars beyond that we just... can't.

It's unfortunate, really, because I would use the same two sets of rims on all of my cars, to let me know at a glance whether or not I had S1 (silver mesh BBS) or R1 (silver with gold mesh BBS) tires equipped to my vehicles. I'll have to figure something else out for Standards.

see if they said that on the Premium cars you cant change the wheels since they didnt have the time to add that to the cars i would go "shame, but oh well"

Now i have a lot of cars, which ive played with before in the previous game, and i was giving most of the cars my fav rims to make `m look more sporty, but now in the newer game they removed that from the game.. which makes me go "err.. eh?.. wut?"

removing something you had before doesn't make sence to me.

I wonder if it is because the rims you can change are in a high resolution to match the premium cars and wouldn't look right on lower resolution standard cars ?

Just a thought

I think it's because some of the standard car are modeled all in one. Like straight port from GTPSP. So yeah, if it's not correctly modeled, it's hard to make rims change.

But I'm fairly certain this is the same in GT4.

I would say this is the reason behind it, it would just look odd.

However I can't see why they couldn't just make the rims look lower res to match the standard cars when they are fitted to them, it's a shame but not something that's going to make me proclaim that "the game sucks"

if that was the problem they could have just moved over the gt4 wheels for the standard cars

i still find it funky, and a very bad choice, and as i said it makes using the standard cars even more unappealing.

It's rather odd that, because Kaz said a while ago that the standard cars were going to be popular in the game or something. (he used different words to that but it was something similar).

I read somewhere that the standard cars were from GT4's garage (They have a higher polycount than the ones you actually drive). I assume that whereever the cars are from, they only converted the "default" cars - and not the custom rims. A big flaw really. I really really hope that this will be patched later on.

Hey - good to be back, haven't posted here in years! :)

im 100% with you on that. it makes the two tier system that bit more bitter

All this time (the years) I though GT5 would have good customizing on cars. When I Found out that you can paint the cars and paint the rims and change the body I was like "whoa! this is far beyond what I just wanted it". I was happy. But since I also heard that standarts wont have cockpit view I was like "bummmer." But oh well, I play in roof cam anyways. Then it made me think what about if standarts wont have the abilities of premiums when it comes to customizing? I was also sad, but I knew, I knew you had to change the rims atleast on all cars. But now that I heard that you can only change the rims on 200 cars, I feel very heart broken(very). I'm not hating, I would still love to buy the game, But I want to know at least why.

The only thing I can think of they can do is add a standard rim package via DLC (I hope they do) Other than that, due to the rims being VERY 3d to the point you can see inside the wheel and the brakes etc, the rims if they were made available to the standards wouldn't look right due to how they are modeled, I'm guessing in time they may add it via DLC, if not well... there's plenty of cars to enjoy.

I'll get every car I can in GT5, My few favorite ones are standards, I'll have to deal with it.

To be honest, we have a few cars in every category as a premium, well almost, but anyways, I'm more about the weather/online features/physics, and we got all that!

However I do agree that the rim thing is silly, we should have a pack for standards, people can say "Oh it's not about the looks, it's about appreciating the cars and their history" well yeah, that's what GT is about, and GT is also about being a racing sim, I don't know about them but, I know that a 13-14" wheel isn't the best option racing older 80s-90s cars lol

At any rate, I'm happy with the game I got.
