It seems the quickest way to get a car off the line in all GT games including 5 is just to bounce it off the rev limiter. It's always kind of bothered me as I know this not to be true in real life. Maybe I've missed something but anyone found a faster way to start?

It's always bugged me too, but oh well. It does make it a little easier and avoids the possibility of botching a launch which can set you back quite a ways.

I've occasionally been able to launch pretty well by keeping it right at the slipping point, but it hasn't really ended up being any quicker than just flooring it from the start, unfortunately.

I noticed that too. Even in Forza you have to be gentle on the throttle to get a good launch. In GT5 you just floor it.

On some of the higher hp cars you have to let off a bit but that's still not right.

Yah, but being punished for cruddy starting and being rewarded for good ones is what we want, right? Good/bad starts are all part of racing, pretty horrible to see all element of skill removed from achieving the best possible.

Maybe the physics engine is incompatible with emulating accurate starts? Why the hell would that be?

Yeah I wondered this also.

Is there anyone out there that uses the oldschool buttons like X for accelerate and square for brake? It would be extra hard in GT5 i reacon.

L2 R2?

Im talking GT1 style here lol.

I can't stand those controls. X is go, Square is stop when I use the SixAxis. And yes, the near infallibility of starts are fairly annoying. What's really strange is that it seems a step back from GT5P even.

Grip need to be severly reduced when your wheels spin at 400+ hp.
