Well, the StarCraft 2 announcement has churned some interest in play the original StarCraft over good old Battle.net. The reason for this thread is because people feel the SC 2 thread should remain dedicated to SC 2 (odd, I know :sly: ) and so thus.

The basic idea is to get times when people are available to play online, along with their B.net IDs. I'll try to update a list in this first post, unless people don't want to post their IDs (privacy, etc)

Additionally, I'm hoping this thread can be used to arrange games, exchange maps, discuss matches and so on. Heck discuss other Blizzard games as well (I always end up playing some Diablo 2 every year it seems like), except World of Warcraft. Why? I'm sure there is already a thread on it, and I am sure it could easily be resurrected.

Anything worthy up noting I'll try to reference in this main post; going to attempt a collection of StarCraft related info that comes through here.

Last thing, if you have a better, catchier, snazzier title for the thread, do tell. I'm terrible at naming threads.:dunce:

Well, I will try to grab a friend of mine this week for gaming at some point.

So what kind of game format should we look at... 2 v 2 if we get 4 of us, or 4 v 4, humans versus CPU opponents. I prefer using maps that are designed for tournament play, so Ladder maps and such with limited amounts of resources, so awesome fights can ensue over expansions.
 
I play all kinds, I prefer maps with at least a semi-organized mineral deposits however. I can't stand scattered minerals. I guess that's my OCD poking through...

Here's an old map I designed and revamped with better expansion points. I didn't fill the map with doodads and other distractions. Just map, minerals, expansion points, and plenty of defense spots. And enough room to build basic stuff inside your main base--but you need to expand to get more room. There are still a few bugs, but I can't remember what they were and if I fixed them already.

I try to play regular games but people never know how to back another person up, or you end up having to back up other people and then getting killed. Well, on 3v5c games anyway... But i have a bad record since i started playing a few days ago because of this.. Not to mention i suck. lol
 
By LT, I am going to assume you mean Lost Temple, which is an exceedingly good map and one of my personal favs. Though I think it gives defensive style players a heavy advantage with the single ramp for entry.
 
StarCraft, now that's a game i've not heard in a long time[/Obi-Wan]

I spent countless hours playing this game back in the day. Completing the missions was pretty good fun, but it was always best playing against another person. I never played online, but played the demo on LAN against another guy in the office when we were worked-up. Good times.

I had a go at making maps but could never get the damn things to work properly :( - i lost interest around that time.

i've been playing on those retarded maps where they have that one super mineral area and they make an effort to build the largest armies possible. at a single time and just throw them at you. I'd rather have a map where you have a fairly good chance to defend yourself, with choke points guarded by my all-time favorite: bunkers 1/3 marine/firebat and 3 siege tanks behind them. stops everything except air and cloaked units and as such i post a few missile turrets around
 
Let us revive this!

We should try to organize a GTP user game, so we can avoid the annoyingly dumb maps.

and what time do you guys suggest. make sure it's at Prime Meridian time so that we don't all say 5:00 and each person's off by 2 hours.

Underlined letter is a lowercase "L".

Couldn't tell ya when im actually on cuz of my homework and stuff. I don't really have a set time for going on Battle.net... I started a new thread concerning SC (its a few threads below this one) and I wanna try to get a GTP battle going. :sly:
 
Updated my first post. Just PM me or something if you want to play a game, as I don't even know if I have SC installed right now >.>; But I would love to play with some people from around here, and I do prefer ladder style maps.

Edit: Sorry BayConRong, forgot to answer your question... lol. No, you don't have to type it perfectly (with the caps.)... But it goes into your friends list the EXACT way you type it, so I would try to stick to the caps arrangment by the way the user has it.

Nope. Not here, only been booted for using Oblivion (hack program that you can download for free) and hacking my name and stuff... but it's pretty much the norm nowadays for people to use it... Yet many hosts will still ban you, EVEN IF THEY ARE USING IT THEMSELVES!!!! And that's what Grinds My Gears! lol. (For you Family Guy lovers fans out there! :sly: )

Hehehehe.. yep. Well, the colorful names atleast. The names that look like gibberish are usually games that are hosted by people that speak a diffferent language and your computer just cant translate it.

And on another note, I had to change my account due to an overwhelming amount of spam bots whispering me, so my new bnet name is Razgriz1/US East/ PM me for time
