My What?

Received these as a Christmas gift (3.5 jack version) and I love them so far.. only problem is I can't get the mic to work. It's unmuted, plugged in the right spot, and turned on. I looked for solutions, tried a few and had no luck, so now I'm here asking for some assistance.. please :) Any experience, etc?

Plug into the front pink port?
Does the computer audio software detect that the mic is plugged in.
Normally when the mic light is on it means it is muted.
Right click the speaker icon on the task bar and select recording devices, then make sure Microphone or Front Microphone is enabled and set as the default recording device.

Have you tried boosting the microphone volume level? I had to put full extra boost so my friends could hear me well (Zalman ZM-MIC1 @ Realtek HD on-board). They couldn't hear my voice when I had the boost @ 0dB. :boggled:

Here's an image to help.

Yup, plugged in the pink port. I probably should mention I have Windows XP.. I don't think my PC is even recognizing I have the mic plugged in..

XP.

Been a while since I have used an outdated O/S.

If I remember correctly.

Double click the speaker icon(near the clock)
The select the first menu item and select properties
The navigate to recording devices.
Make sure Front Microphone or Microphone is ticked.
Set the volumes and try it.

If you have software like realtek installed use this to do the setup.
