Is anyone else having an issue with the McLaren mp4 steering locking up? Sometimes it locks up at 90° on the screen and stops turning, but then its fine. I thought it was the setup but it does it regardless of what i change and doesnt react to the track consistently as if its handling. It just does it randomly. Otherwise its amazing to drive!!

I noticed the same when I did the hotlap event at Suzuka.

It's merely visual, and depends on speed. When you're doing the hairpin, the wheel only turns some 90 degrees but the steering still works as normal, if you look at the tires.

Ive waited to see if they'd fix it but unfortunately no. Its mainly on shorter tight tracks, and it absolutely effects the driving causing severe understeer in hairpins. Although jolting it can get it unstuck it doesnt always work. I cant believe still no one else has mentioned it anywhere yet

Gentlemen, this looks like a common problem that you have dropped the ride height too much in the suspension settings, when you drop the ride height too much your tyres WILL hit and rub inside the wheel wells hindering your turning ability and causing severe understeer. this is a common problem with other cars also. Try raising the ride height and let us know how it works

Granted he just said the "McLaren mp4" (sic) so he could mean the MP4-12C, but folk tend to call that the 12C, so chances are he's talking about the MP4/4 which doesn't have anything for the wheels to hit.

Now if @jCosmos087 could clarify the car, and provide a video of his issue, we may be able to assist.

That’s a pretty neat trick, rubbing the wheel wells on a formula one car.

Have you disappeared? Are you waiting to come back next year to complain again?

Anyway, I've just driven the MP4/4 round Sardegna and the steering wheel in the cockpit stops at 90 degrees in either direction, but the wheels continue to steer so it does not affect the handling of the car. It's just a visual animation issue that doesn't affect the physics.

I haven't tested this is the case, but as a point of order, just because the car model in game doesn't have any wheel wells that doesnt mean the code that determines if ride height is below x and y and z = a then this happens.
