Alright, I have been playing this game non stop and got a steering wheel for christmas and turned it on professional assist and i am having problems with my drifting. It seems like no matter what I do I can not stop myself from spinning out. Even at full counter and foot off that gas it won't come back around. Also the car I am using is the Corolla Shigeno version and have my settings pretty good but I need some assist. Tell me what I am doing wrong please. Also What tires should I be using. Thank you to all who reply.

It depends on what HP you are running. If your HP is stock to mild tune you can use SIMs, but if your fully tuned, stay away from sims and try sports or slicks.

PRACTICE!!!!!! drifting with a steering wheel is INSANLY HARD just take a stock car and run it slow till you get the hang of it getting harder every time you improve (little mods on engine, more speed) its working for me

Well, first: get used to the steering wheel. Use a reliable car you know you can drift and get used to drifting with the wheel in that certain car so you can adjust your senses to the new steering wheel.

Also, the assists may be knocking the car around in drifts. Turn them off because somethimes the ASM or the TCS get in the way of the car drifting, resulting in a spinout. Try it out and see how the car reacts :)

just use amateur or begginner. i really dont think its possible to do drifts with pro or sim mode on its like u cant counter steer the car, the car will just spinout. I think amateur is the best.

The pro setting is just fine for drifting, but whatever you do, don't put it on Simulation. Also, you need to match the HP with the tires like Breaker said. The wheel is vhard to get used to, but you will get it eventually.;)

well i actually just had it on simulation assist and can do it a little although it is very hard. I have put the steering wheel on hold for a little, My friend is giving me his old racing seat and i am going to mount it and all my stuff to it. hopefully it makes it more realistic.

When it is set to "simulation", it won't allow full lock (steering is somewhat limited). I think Pergatory, or breaker could back me up on this one. So maybe you should contact them and see what they have to say. Now then, that racing seat is going to be cool when it's done. I have been wanting to do that for a long time, and now that the "Driving Force Pro" is out, I think I might just do it. I have a Recaro Seat from my 91' Jetta GLI, that would be perfect for that setup. ;)

Can't wait to see it. Maybe it will give me some ideas for mine.;)

One advice from my short experience (but ongoing) is be very very gentle w/ the throttle. Throttle control is pretty much key to having a good drift. Countersteering is less important in my opinion and you can have some leeway in that, but definitely not w/ throttle inputs. Also if you're entering a turn too fast or too slow you'll spin out. You need to find the right speed for the turns and it changes depending on which drifting methods you use. And finally, practice! lol It does get a bit easier as you drive more and get a feel for the car.

Heh I just got my new gt force pro wheel about 5 days ago, and Im having a lot of trouble too. Those that converted from controller to wheel with no problem I truely commend you. I've been drifting about roughly 2 years now, and going from controller to wheel is like a totoally different world. Its pretty much like im learning drifting all over again... All I can see is be very gentle on the throttle and don't let the force feedback fool u, cause sometimes to keep the car on the road, you don't just like the wheel force u over to full lock, sometimes you need to pull it back to the center to gain traction and stay on the road :)

If you feel hard to drift with wheel, try this: Buy a car which is easy to drift, RX-7 "box model", MR2 GT-S or earn Shigeno or buy it's normal version. Then tune it up to 300hp then put some tires between T1 to T5 and do just little drifts, no full locks right away when you play with wheel at first time. And then you learn the basics very easy way, then tune up to 400hp and put sims in it etc.

Converting over to wheel is a big change. I would recommend going through some license testing with the wheel to get yourself better aquinted with it. Thats the purpose of the license test I think. It really helps out, I taught my friend how to drift with the wheel, by first having him do certain licenses test with the wheel to teach him about weight transfer and how to handle the wheel in those situations. I wouldn't let him advance until he showed me he could get gold with the wheel, and this really help in my opinion.

It took me lots of hours to get used it the wheel too, its true, its like playing GT3 as a noob again when you do convert, but the payoff is better and more rewarding.

The key is, DO THE LICENSE TEST with the WHEEL. You must be able to get gold before you should even attempt to try and control the wheel drifting.

Well, first off: use either the Beginner, Amature, or Pro steering asist (not simulation, won't allow full lock). Second: don't be afraid to go against the force feedback. The wheel is durable, so don't be afraid of breaking it. ;)

Driftboy, I'm having the same problem. I can drive as good as I can drive with the DS2, but when I'm trying to drift, I spin out. I've been lately trying to turn without stamping the accellerator, and it's helping.

Start out with a stock silvia on sims. 👍
I'm still learning with that car. :)
