Steering Wheel Help!

Help is needed!

Hi! I decided that would give the old ps2 steering wheel a go on the ps3...so I have just bought a ps2 to ps3 controller adapter and have connected it all up to my ps3! However...when i go to race, it doesnt respond to my pedals or buttons on the wheel, its just sits there...but its responds in the menu? I am wonderng why this is and if the wheel is compatible with my PS3 or GT5?

My wheel is a Joytech Williams F1 Racing Wheel and is in good nick...help?

*maybe* try to set the wheel as controller 1?
In GT5, press the PS button on your DS3 till it shows a menu with 'controller settings' in it.
You can assign your controllers there. Set the DS3 to controller 2. Then disconnect the weheel and reconnect the weheel again, hoping the PS3 will recognise your wheel as controller 1.
 
I looked around and everyone lists it as a Playstation 2 wheel. It might not be compatible but good luck.
