He completed his landing at Salinas, Kansas, his starting point... and thus completes the world's first solo, non-stop, no-refuel circumnavigation. He overcame fueling issues, hydraulic questions concerning the landing gear or brakes.

23,000-miles in the air; 67+ hours flight time. Touchdown at 14:50. Congratulations to the team!

Yeah congratulations to him and the team. What an amazing feat!

I read this morning's newspaper and the article was discussing the "unexplained loss of 2,600 lbs of fuel". Even Fossett admitted that it was a huge setback so to overcome this makes the record even more extraordinary.

Extremely Lucky Git. Without them tail winds he would have landed in the pacific, and I don't think that air frame could take such a hit.

Expect to see lots more attempts in future.

[EDIT] I forgot, Congratulations!

I caught the landing on Fox News this morning when I woke up.

The most amazing thing was that he got very little sleep while in the cockpit, only two minute naps here and there.

He had naps? I would have thought he would just stay awake for a couple of days. Napping when you are behind the controls of a plane can not be good. What was his average altitude?

Am I the only one who doesn't find this feat that amazing? I'm not downing the event or anything, but it's just kind of boring in my opinion. Seems like it could have been done long ago. The first non stop slight around the world happened in 2005? :indiff:

Congratulations on the completion of the flight. 👍

It's the first non-stop, non-refueling, solo flight around the world. Flying around the world in and of itself is not history-making in 2005. But doing it yourself on one tank of gas is.

Thank for for pointing out the facts I overlooked. I should have paid more attention. I apologize.

Even so, I don't think it's amazing. Just a flight around the world. I guess I'm not easily fazed. That, or I'm just stupid? I don't know.
