Sticky gravel "Forza-Style"?? (1.06)

OMG! Why noboby can give a proper answer to him? He asks a direct question and only gets "oh, why do you think gravel is there?" or some general theory about how gravel stops the car more than tarmac...

He just asks if the car goes from 150mph to 30mph in about 1 sec, like happens with grass and gravel in FMIII. Just this.

I can not aswer since my PS3 is broken, so please someone could be gentle enough to give a proper answer.

Yeah.. Answering the OP's question, I haven't found any difference with the new update so far. I'm really hoping they don't bring in a sticky tarmac system like in Forza.

The gravel traps on a track are designed to stop a car as quickly as possible, but tarmac sections of the track shouldn't slow down a car like they do in Forza.

I don't now what some of you are on about but I also think this type of behaviour is very unrealistic. It is a cheap shot by developers to discourage going off track.

Even the deppest sand pit/kitty litter/gravel doesn't near INSTA-stop cars like in Forza 3, not unitl they are travellling at very low speeds.

Those videos posted on page 1 by Mrdinasour all just showed cars going into the sand pit and not being able to get out?? Umm...?

What is being is disuccussed by OP is the rate of deceleration, NOT whether you can keep moving once you come to a complete stop in a sand pit, which we can all just attest to being able to keep on racing after you make a mistake (the same as where hitting a barrier at 150mph only gets you a 8 second penalty at most, intead of DNF and death like in real life)

If you watch real videos of cars going into gravel at anything over 120mph or so you will see that they skip along for a very long way before coming to a stop.. in the barrier or way in the distance if its an extremly long one.

Cars grinding to a stop from 200mph to 40 in a few cars lenghths is just ridiculous.

It has always been like this. Set the grip reduction setting to "real" in practice mode. Not only do your tires lose alot more grip after hitting grass, ut when you hit the gravel the car drops in speed alot more and is much harder to get out of it.

If you think thats a cheap shot to stop people from cheating than thats ridiculous because A) you shouldnt be cheating anyway and B) its only being realistic.

It's hard to answer the question when the question is faulty to begin with. I don't know what FM3 he's playing but the one I play grass doesn't just stop you from 150 to 30mpg in one second. Infact, with the group I race with they kiddingly praise me for the ability to get off track, in the grass and back on track when they thought it looks like I'd be out there for a while when losing it. I tell them I've had "alot of practice" LOL.

Gravel, I've never hit gravel at 150. Usually there's a turn coming somewhere that I've blown so by the time the first tire is about to hit the gravel I've already slowed down considerably to try to take the turn. Maybe later on I'll try some experiments and see what I can relay to him.
