Well im half way into my second season with williams, and i just recieved a notice from Sabine, that i now have equal driver status in the team, if i continue to perform well, i will become the teams no. 1 driver.

Let me walk you through my game, in my first season i destroyed Rubens, i got 3 wins, and came 6th in the drivers title, way above expectations. Now in my Second season, i have already won 4 races and i am 2nd behind mark webber, and after a dismal race at silverstone i gained a promotion....not after winning a race, but after a poor performance.

I also ranked to level 14.
Now my question is, do you have to be a certain reputation to reach no.1 driver in a team? If so what is that rank, what level did you become no.1 driver? what must i do! To be no.1 driver!

Hm, I´m half way through my first season with force india and got that "you´re now equal" message from sabine ^^.

Can´t tell you if it has something to do with Ranking. Did you do all R&S Objectives, good qualifying positions etc.? Mby it has something to do with this..

cheers

I've also been promoted to equal status, this time at Lotus. Just finished Hungary in season 1, and my ranking is already at just below 10. As already mentioned, keep up with the R&D tasks and make sure that you are hitting or ahead of target in qualifying as well as the race.

Another factor may be the interviews as well, if you are talking up other teams, selling yourself and basically blaming Williams, it would be unlikely that they will promote you anytime soon...

Well the objectives have been a hit and miss for me, i usually get the race objectives, but i miss out on the qualy and practice objectives...maybe that is my problem. Thanks for the replies.

Well two races later, after a first place, and a 12th place finish, and rank up to 15. I have been promoted to first driver. Finally!! Thankyou Sir Frank!

I got equal status near the end of season 1 also driving for Williams, in season two however I moved to Ferrari as No'2 driver to Alonso. I won 14 races in my first season, so i'm guessing the ammount you need to beat your teammate by is absolutely ridiculous to get promoted. It seems now it is a combination of contract and performance, as apposed to 100% contract in F1 2010.

Based on that, if you kept your upgrades from season 1 (I don't know if you do/can) then you would be in with a good chance of winning the drivers world championship quite comfortably in the Williams, with that in mind i'd say you need to wait near the halfway point to get upgraded to No'1 driver.

Yep, just after the halfway point, i got it. And the car does keep upgrades from the second season, the car is faster, and im working on that title as we speak.

The best contract I got at the end of my first season was from Toro Rosso :( I ended up 4th (drivers championship)

Didn´t even get an offer from a big team. Hoped for Mercedes GP or Ferrari. But nothing. Just offers from the Starter Teams, which are all slower than my Force India... So I´ll stick with this one for another season.. Got 7th this Season with 1 win + almost every time in top 10...

If you beat your rival, you always get a contract with that team. So when choosing your rival, if you don't think you're gonna win the championship, pick the weaker of the 3.

Thats kind of the same situation i am in. I'm hoping for a merc or ferrari drive for season 3.

Yeah, true....too bad my options were Hamilton, Alonso and webber....and i did choose the weakest link(Hamilton).

I had to choose hamilton, button or massa. All 3 had like 100 points more than me to the time i could choose my rival. That was 5 races before end of the season. No way for me to beat him, since the ferrari is about 1-2 seconds faster than my FI.

After reading here that you should give negative answers in the interviews to get contract offers I did just that and then he asked who is my main rival.

So do I have to beat them in the championship now or what?

Your aim is to beat your rival in the championship, if you do then his team will offer you a driver contract. In my case it was Alonso, I beat him and got a Ferrari contract as a No'2 driver, but I replaced massa.

Well, this game is flawed. My Lotus is not capable of qualifying faster than any of the 3 rivals I could have chosen and even in the race it's near impossible to beat them unless I did a 3 lap race (which I won't)

I'm using Pro AI and If I turn it down to Intermediate I can win from 24th on the grid but with Pro I can't beat my rival.

So apart from the whole "rival" thing is there a chance of getting random contract offers from good teams? I got offered one from HRT but I politely declined :)

You're not meant to beat your rival in a lotus, its a bottom tier car. Setup will make a massive difference though, in the dry you can shave off perhaps 2 seconds (in some cases more) from using a decent setup instead of one of the default setups. But if you're driving for Lotus, there was no intention for you to be even competing with the Ferrari's Mclarens or Red Bulls.

I wish that were the case, i beat Webber and got a WDC, and no offer from Redbull.....im starting to think, no!, im pretty sure the interviews are at fault here.
