This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #13:

Beginner's Level Japanese '90s Car Challenge: Tsukuba - 540 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Italian Festival: Roma - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level British Lightweights: Brands Hatch Grand Prix - 520 PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

Japanese 90s at Tsukuba:
468PP
– 1:04.275 – 5:58.426 – Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R34) ’99 – SH – 4WD – 327hp – 1540kg – Supra RZ ’97 – 6:00.505

Italian 500PP at Roma:
454PP – 1:25.450 – 7:40.819 – Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta p.c. CN.2521 ’61 – CS – FR – 275hp – 960kg – 147 GTA ’02 – 7:41.885
413PP – 1:24.378 – 7:36.357 – Ferrari Dino 246 GT ’71 – SH – MR – 191hp – 1080kg – Dino 246 GT ’71 – 7:37.179

British Lightweights at Brands Hatch Grand Prix:
497PP
– 1:38.553 – 9:16.069 – TVR Tamora ’02 – SH – FR – 345hp – 1060kg – Seven Fireblade ’02 – 9:19.077

I never realized the AC S/C ’66 was not a lightweight (1311kg). Avoid having the Rocket ’07 in the lineup: on my first go with the Tamora I lapped the two slowest cars and still came in 10 seconds behind the Rocket. I also never realized the Rocket was a "non-racecar". :odd:

British Lightweights at Brands Hatch Grand Prix:
440PP
– 1:40.195 – 9:27.274 – Lotus Elise 111R '04 – SH – MR – 194hp – 860kg – Lotus Elise 111R '04 – +1.035

I was 13s behind against the Rocket (mudguards, lights, road-legal) but very easy against the Lotuses (or is it Loti?).

Italian 500PP at Roma:
434PP
– 1:27.658– 7:56.942 – Lancia Stratos 15th Anniv '73 – CS – MR – 220hp – 980kg – Bera Sky Window 3.2 JTS Q4 – + 2.295

The roller-skate, on cobbles? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but no. The Bera is a very easy rabbit. Passed him on lap 3 and never saw him again. Not sure I could manage it against the faster rabbits.

Edit -
410PP – 1:29.054– 8:01.506 – Lancia Stratos '73 – CS – MR – 185hp – 980kg – GT 3.2 V6 24V '04 – + 0.008

Now that was a revelation. I'd never driven the standard Stratos before. I'd driven the Anniversary model loads in career because it was a free car and I was being a cheapskate. The standard is slower but an absolute doddle to drive in comparison. It's still fun but without the added feeling of terror every time you get to a corner. Good close race against beatable but respectable opposition.

and to round off the evening-
Japanese 90s at Tsukuba:
455PP
– 1:05.813 – 6:06.125 – Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version V '98 – SH – 4WD – 279hp – 1270kg – Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 (R34) – +0.592

This seems much tougher than usual for the beginner events. Harder at 85PP down and the maximum tyres than the intermediate event at 90PP and one grade of tyres down. I doubt there will be any winners on CS.

@Hastatus Close in the 250 GT there. I'll bet it could win against the Bera. I don't think there's yet been an event where it's been a winner. - Just realised you did win it :dunce:. I assumed that because it wasn't bolded it was not a win.

Good luck you guys.
Still locked in version 1.13 here... So your times are safe!

Sorry to hear that. I'm finding your new avatar rather disturbing. I'm assuming that photo wasn't taken this season. It's been a while since we saw Seb grinning like Dan.

Expert Level British Lightweights: Brands Hatch Grand Prix - 520 PP - SH

496PP -
TVR Cerbera Speed 6 '97 - SH - FR - 349bhp - 1130kg - Best Lap = 1:40.755

A-Spec_#13_Expert-Level_British_Lightweights_[TVR_Cerbera_Speed_6_'97].jpg

The Cerbera is so well behaved and obedient, just like my other favourite go to stock car, the RX-8 :D

Just tried this in the 111r, and despite 4 1'38.xxx laps, still finished 6 seconds behind the Rocket

Also tried the 111s, but even without the Rocket struggled on CS tyres.

The handling of both stock Lotus has been ruined by the last physics update... all that rear toe has just made them too safe... I liked them much better when they tried to kill you on turn in :D

Now trying the Sport 190... which I think will beat the Rocket, but will need 5 perfect laps. I can a mid 36's, but hard to do 4 with traffic!

Edit: definitely doable in the 190... just finished 1.7s down, but had a couple of 37's.

Edit: 0.124 behind (best lap 35.8)

Edit: Won by 0.734... caught the Rocket in to the tight left before the back straight. Took me another 2 corners to get past him, but eventually managed it and continued on for the win.

I'll post lap times etc over the weekend, but if you want a challenge against the Rocket, this is a fun one... car handles awesome stock :)

Click the image thumbnail to bring up the larger version. 👍
Ok done now. My internet was running so slowly yesterday that when I clicked on the thumb it just produced a larger version of the low res image. Ironic that on the day Virgin Media sent a letter to say they were putting up their prices we had 48 hours of sub-dial-up speed.

@Stotty Brilliant job in the 190 there. The best I could manage was about 5s behind the Rocket after a few attempts. The car is great, it's just the driver that is the problem.

Edit-

Stratos v Dino

Italian 500PP at Roma:
434PP
– 1:25.753 – 7:42.588 – Lancia Stratos 15th Anniv '73 – CS – MR – 220hp – 980kg – Dino 246 GT'71 – + 1.004

I've been having a lot of fun in both the Anniversary and normal Stratos. Couldn't catch the Dino or the Stratos rabbit in the normal car but the lack of success didn't detract from the enjoyment.
