This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.
1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #28:

Beginner Level Super Car Festival: Monza - 550 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Dirt Challenge: Toscana - 600 PP - Dirt
Expert Level GT All Stars: Silverstone Grand Prix - 600 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

I tried several cars but the Zonda kept blowing me away in the straights so I went with my trusty Cobra and that made it a very close and fun race.

- 1:55.093 - 6:06.124 - Citroen C4 WRC '08 - D - 4WD - 325hp - 1230kg - RSC Rally Raid Car - 6:07.683

I always love watching dirt replays. The dust clouds look so good considering the hardware.

The Veyron seems to be the rabbit to beat. It seems to be consistently at about 10:46.xxx. Other rabbits are way, way faster: e.g. I had an FXX '07 that was 40 seconds faster than the Veyron with a Huayra somewhere in second.

Monza 550pp

3 laps
Prize car a Ford GT '05

550pp - I had a look at my list of cars... and what stood out in the500-550 bracket?
The Toyota FT-1
I know it is a hard car to like. Brakes that (In ABS=0 mode at least) are very demanding. Too heavy they lock up - not applied enough and you compromise your lap. The Top speed used to be gearbox limited But it ws still a good speed. just annoying to brush up against the rev limiter like a tightly packed commuter train into London... hmmm.

BUT Just North of Milan (Nice flag Milan!) I found the FT1 wasn't hammering the rev limiter in top gear - sure it got close, so in a way the default gearbox is perfect for the old Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Brakes? Just as they were when the car came out. Savage and they completely overwhelm the Sport Hard tyres locking up the fronts in huge clouds of vulcanised rubber if you stomp the brakes.

The race. Had an Aston One -77 take the lead in a race that I took with a cautious pace, I broke softly and early to get a feel for the brakes. Monza isn't that bad, the brake zones are razor straight and so you can focus on how much pressure you give the brakes. Even so I was locking up every other corner,

First run I just got the win. teh One-77 picking up the pace as I got behind it. then sticking close after I made the clean pass after Curva Grande (Big Turn) into the Roggia chicane. 6m20.375/1m59.463 and a win by 0.022. The Aston did Blip the throttle slightly as she worked out which side she wanted to pass me on,

I repeated the race with much more attack. Passed the Aston the same place but a lap earlier she chased hard but never quite had enough to do more than get along side into the braking area which I had the inside line for.

The Toyota was tricky the front brakes blocking if I was anything other than Fred and Ginger with them. But fun to lap quite fast without leaving huge great plumes of tyres smoke or Ishibashi(*) graffiti on the sunbleached asphalt.

Then returned in a Lamborghini Countach from 1974. (I took the wing off as it always adds down force, whereas in real life the bolt on rear wings for the Countach tended to create high speed lift... This was a nice car to drive, ABS=0 no problem - Zero I don't think I ever got a wheel to lock up, considering the light weight and the narrower tyres this has relative to the FT1 - Ah nevermind, this is GT6 logic!
Harder to get the win as I had a Saleen S7 that was a bit racey, If it got the lead, you were scuppered. If it was in second place out of Vialone... Ascari chicane, You were dead in the water. I Managed to get a bit lucky as the One-77 joined in the fun and after the trading places The Saleen was on the inside, but I got around the outside of it, as did the big Aston on my outside, the Saleen had to regroup, but the Aston was solid in second as I scampered up the road. Giving it some Beep Beep and some Toot Toot.
The line? Blanket finish.

Had a go at Silvy - but road cars vs Race cars? Has PD made some error? Had a crack in a RX7 LM - and got pummeled by the FXX which pulled away from me 10m06.856 (FXX) I could only scrape a 4th place - which could have been 2nd easily had a few ropey laps and I only really got going on the last lap.

- 2m01.641 - 10m44.606 - Mazda RX7-LM - SH - FR - 500bhp - 1080kg - Ferrari FXX - 10m06.856

I guess the trick to winning this event is to get lucky and not get the FXX road car on the grid, or else pick a much faster race car.

- 2:08.xxx - 6:45.858 - BMW M3 Coupe '07 - SH - FR - 415bhp - 1655kg - S7 '02 - 6:45.865

Only had time for a quick run at this one. Got a couple of close seconds in the Mazda RX500 then switched to the Beemer expecting an easy win with a few more PP and sports tyres but got whopped by Calvo in the Zonda. The third reload found a grid with no Zonda and then it was straightforward win, although the Saleen was gaining fast at the line. The rest of them really shouldn't be allowed out on their own, weaving about and nearly coming to a halt at the corners. I think I had a lot of luck with the grids but I've never thought of the M3 as outstanding, so I reckon there's plenty of scope for lower PP.

Enjoyed the car, Doesn't go very fast but it has a realistic feel about it as it slide through corners. In the end a very easy win as the Ringer from Ferrari didn't turn up. Still feels pretty skanky to beat upon road cars with an aerodynamic monster car on Racing Slicks. The Old Citroen GT - The Imperial Stormtrooper of concept cars.

Took a base Model Z GT500 to a brace of wins versus the Aventador / Enzo grid.

1m59.902 - 10m30.316 (Enzo - 10m35.926)

Easy enough car to drive, got a bit dusted by other cars on the straights and they had a habit of reversing into you at the end of the straights Passing then blending back to in front of you then braking a bit early. My Best race had two rather solid impacts (Gentle Bump Drafts I guess our colonial friends in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may say. (Tea wasting Tax dodging oiks!) Which probably cost a second or so. Car is great but a bit squirrely at low speeds under heavy acceleration.

Bargain price of 166,500 kazulas fat PP rating. Could it earn the cash back? The look is nice enough (Tiny rear wheels - engulfed by the rear end of the car - Has an air of Prius about that rear wheels.) Don't like the look of it now...

Mystery as to just how much power and weightit has... 619bhp and 1185kg when I get to the Garage...

Track - two Bugattis up front but a FXX a F1 and a WHY-RAR (Huayra) just behind...

(11 minutes later)

The car is a stinker with loads of push. Understeer and poor high speed grip and turn in. The numbers seem good, but I guess it has poor Aero numbers (200/450)

(The Z had 300/550 Aero so not a huge difference) .

6th place - 144,000 kazulas so I made a net loss too... Not sure I will want to use this car stock, despite the Fat power and fairly low weight, wheel spin wasn't an issue, the tyres cooking in corners made it feel ponderous and clunky as you have to drag it round corners.

530PP - 1:54.287 - 6:04.674 - Ford RS200 Rally Car '85 - D - 4WD - 420bhp - 980kg - quattro S1 Rally Car - 6:06.911

It makes a nice change to have a taste of the rallycross experience in GT6. Could afford to stay (mostly) on the gravel for this one and it was still an easy win.

417PP - 1:54.317 - 6:05.014 - Mitsubishi Pajero Rally Raid Car '85 - D - 4WD - 225bhp - 1202kg - quattro S1 Rally Car - 6:06.254

Had to make use of the full track boundaries to win this one. Such a great car though. Mine still had RHs on it from its last outing at the Matterhorn, where it was equally impressive for a vehicle that looks like it would be more at home on safari than on a race track. I think it is the lowest PP 4WD rally car except for the later Pajero, which feels a little underpowered, but is probably capable of winning too. Got a couple of close seconds in it then the one time I got to the front, when the Lancia was holding up the quattro, I messed up the last turn, got booted up the rear and ended up in the fence.

Silverstone - Won it in the Alpine VGT against the Whooo-eeee-rahhh but not a chance against the FXX. It's one of the very few VGTs that didn't go straight to the stockyard. Looks and drives like a proper car. Actually it drives more like a kart- somehow slippery and grippy at the same time. Got to watch the revs though. The power band is really low and torquey but it's got nothing near the red line.
Odd race. It does seem wrong to be up against road cars in a pretty beefy racing car, especially when you can't catch them. Unless I'm missing something there's nothing capable of beating the FXX. There's an F1 that's pretty nippy too.

It's only a 100 mile dash up the road from Maranello to the Monza track day and the boxer felt right at home, power sliding round the bends and nipping round the cautious supercar drivers in the chicanes. The Tommy was fast on the straights but very timid when at close quarters. Like he really didn't want to risk scratching his paintwork.
And I had one actually reverse into me. Three of them trying to go into the first chicane at the same time, the Zonda lost out and ended up parked in the bales then backed out into me as I was going round him. Bloody amateurs.

(Sorry got the PP wrong first time - Cheers Stirls)
Installed the Bertone Prototype It's always been coded in my version game. So After my disastrous V1.13 update I thought I would treat myself and actually use it, Thanks to PD

Stats. 4 litre v12 that spits out a rather modest - 349bhp - 980kg mid-engined Rear wheel drive only. But the car is like most prototypes mostly about styling. Louvered rear window. Large Recessed headlamps that pop up are a nice simple touch after so many VGT's use brain melting LED Laser cutters on the front of the car.
Horn - Like someone shot a Frenchman's accordion. But you will beep beep, toot toot every so often once you find it.
Colour? Comes with a nice zesty shade of orange, but I turned that red with the GT40's Mark 4 Red which has some nice colour saturation to it. Italian Cars have to be Scarlet. It's the law.

Drives pretty well, Brakes are a bit long at times, and they can lock the fronts if you really stomp on them then put a bit of steering lock as the unloaded front loses its battle with traction. The Engine is nice, again you can get some wheel spin if you really hoon it about but compared to most cars it is a compliant V12 lump.

Only car I had... and it had a bolt on turbo which I swapped out... then I was almost deported from Italy "Your car is outside of regulations do you wish to exit to the menu screen?" -

I swiftly put some Dirt Tyres back on the Super Yoshimitsu and I was good to go...

Never really enjoyed low grip events in GT. Probably down to them being four wheel drive cars and they always drive with the grace of an 18 stone gymnast.

I was expecting to get a face full of dust and to sound like Max Verstappen about now typing this up. But Actually the car was not so bad once I found the balance and I got the lead by lap 2 and stretched out a lead with a slow but safe final lap.

Replays look good, but where are my fans lining the track. Most of the lap is deserted.

AI drove with the usual madness I'd see from my own replays on loose surfaces.

300,000 kazulas is nice. Oooh and a Celica GT-Four - The Ferrero Rocher of prize cars! Ambassador you are spoiling us!

I was going to ue the Subaru VGT - but I had tweaked it down to 600pp for some reason So next on the list is the R8 - I read alot of bad things about this car on GTP when the game first came out. Along the lines of "Undrivable" - which may or may not have been true.

Car seems okay - thick torque curve, but a peaky power band. 47:53 balance, which is almost anti Audi numbers as they normally have so much weight over the front axel. Maybe that is the issue, the Audi road car driver unable to live with an entry level Mid engined super car... Remember the advert for the car on the TV? With the rear bodywork removed and it was just rear axe and engine on a rolling road - no voice over, just engine and burning fuel.

- Thought the advert was way older than that.

The odd thing is that I have another R8 LMS which has the same numbers but is 10 or so PP less... Maybe the go faster stripes work?

Let's hit the track.

2m01.013 - 10m45.098 (3rd) (10m36.814 - Enzo)

Bit of a bodge job as I had forgotton to turn off the novice driver options. Which made the car very docile. Everything off and the car was a ton of fun. but I just seemed to get cars in the wrong place and I ha not got myself dialed into the car every lap I seemed to gain a second on the previous lap..

Lets do it properly this time eh?
2m00.881 - 10m33.882 (Enzo - 10m38.361)

Ouch 11 seconds faster... that isn't like me. Must have lost more time than I thought turning stuff off and trying to get back to incar view. (Hate Chase cam)I also didn't keep on clobbering the sausage kerbs on the inside of the Club onto the new pit straight

I'd have got it sooner if you hadn't cunningly quoted the wrong PP. If only more VGTs could be like this.

Intermediate Level Dirt Challenge: Toscana - 600 PP - Dirt

This was very entertaining. The CZ-3 wasn't particularly fast but what he lacked in that department he made up for in determination. He just wasn't giving up. Parts of the last lap looked like a (not very good) tandem drift team. I might have to do a photo.
In the replay the car looks like Mini Marcos's big brother who goes to the gym. Maxi Marcos maybe, based on an Austin Maxi. I've just now noticed the weight of the thing. No wonder it struggles up the hills.
Nice to see the AI in the Stratos making as much of fool of himself as I did when I tried it. I wonder if there's a 2WD capable of winning.

I don't muck about with the grid, but I'll post this losing time - even if it would have beaten an Enzo level grid.
Car felt quite heavy and it only just managed to get into top gear ( I assume 6th is top... you never no these days!) The main issue I had was not a huge amount of high speed grip. Very pushy at first, but probably a swapping form Mid engine to Front engine thing - getting used to a car that will rotate to a car that is a bit more like a dog with a bone, unwilling to give it up.
But there are a lot of high speed corners where you can go pretty fast, but if you don't get the line right, then you just bleed out laptime.
You could probably gain 10 seconds if you take GTP Online rules for track limits - Even more if you take the lines advocated in the "Anything goes" thread for the Silverstone seasonal - cut every corner like you a depressed emo child.

I wish they had an 80's Silverstone like they have an 80's Brands Hatch. The full bore fast rights and the even faster and more critical faster left handers (Maggots, Chappel and Abbey)

It was a wild ride but easy win in the end. But is there a 2WD rally car? The Renault 5 Turbo Rally Car '85 is definitely a contender. I did a couple of races with it and came second both times with some very messy driving. The Stratos is going to require some extraordinary skill, perhaps someone of Finnish persuasion.

Had this car out as it looks like a Minion from the front (???) The little yellow pill things maybe. (I'm not going to google it, the interweb is full of Furlan at the moment and her detox tea.)

Car - not too bad, bit Jekyll and Hyde at times in corners, sometimes it felt like it was fine and bolted down, others it seemed to plough through them and push wide, but it doesn't understeer that badly, but me braking too late I guess.

Ouch 9 kilos more than the Vette and down by nearly 80 horses. (After race) - This car was a hoot to drive. Much more fun in the corners and tickle a kerb and it turns into a Stratos - excellent. Bit slow on the straights only just crept into 6th gear. I had a huge impact on lap one, I though a Ferrari California ahead was going to stay in the middle of the track so I was going to pass on the outside, but while I was not really looking infront (Brake marker is on the right for me, the Brooklands hospitality suite - whammo. A bit like the Vette at high speeds it can sort of give up in terms of grip and push wide when you are in a sweeper (Farm Curve / Turn 2)

Put two Ai cars as I thought I had an easy win but alas these two must have pushed each other to glory or else the one on the Vette grid was a true "poke sur la slow"

(edit)

sorry the C5-R Corvette had been Americanized by adding ballast - so not stock at all. May explain the push through corners?

The AudiR8 Ultra was loads of fun though. The "Stratos" nature only came out it you tried to clobber kerbstones - the tall sausage kerbs will upset the cat ... BUT you know the car is going to try to swap ends so you can twist in some countersteering action and make the corner like a hero. (Just read another thread, telling me that this R8 LMS ultra car is the worst in GT6! Piffle!

Took a Jaguar XJ220LM

Number 41 in double cream white.
591pp - 542bhp - 1180kg MR RH (400/650 Aero stock)

Numbers look good And my grid doesn't have a FXX on it... so maybe a few good runs will pay off the hole it left in my credit balance?
Oddly you can buy a carbon bonnet as a weight reduction for the car... (Also you can buy a full set of turbos... and that is it. Not that we need to tinker about.)

Always reminded me of a Elasmobranch Whale Shark... Let us see how well it swims inland on the dry asphalt of Silverstone.

1m59.769 - 10m29.734 (McLaren F1 - 10m23.791)

Much more fun than I expected. The car has loads of high speed grip so the faster corners are quite neat, the bad bit is how slow it feels to get up to speed. 5th gear only just gets used and the gearbox is way too long to get the best out of the engine for the track. The car itself handles nicely. Lots of rotation maybe a smidge too much oversteer - but you can always use less steering lock into a corner to balance that issue out. Understeer just kills me.

Well that was so good, I reckon I'll just have to play it again... (Homage to the very first Grand Theft Auto.)

- 6 seconds is quite a gap, but I've 5 laps to do it in, and I know the best time for a XJ220LM at Silverstone is going to be a lot less than my 1m59.7

Race two -
1m59.265 - 10m36.996 (McLaren F1 10m23.552)
Had an off at Copse (I mean turn 9!) - had to pause the game mid turn... then on returning it felt like the Enzo I had just passed flicked the back of my car. Replay says... that lap was a 2m08.??? - so I lost 9 seconds - still not good enough to beat the McLaren. Yes I was hit by the Enzo. (And spun out like I was in a cop chase video!)

In the end I did not beat the McLaren F1 (MP4/30... I think even I could have beaten that!) Real life popped in.

Inspired by watching Markku Alen driving and chatting about the Stratos. Asked what slip angles he used on gravel, he replied ''Not much, and no handbrake". And of course he's dead right. Keep it pointing forward and you'll be ok. Let it get sideways and it takes a long time to get it back, losing loads of time. Going from the Pajero, weighing over twice as much with the same power and 4WD, it took a bit of getting used to, but the Stratos is plenty fast enough if you can resist the temptation to floor it.

We had a few MR cars in here, so I wanted to try a FF. It worked surprisingly well, but it still took me 5 tries to get everything right. It was really fun!

Yep FF does work well and it is fun too. There don't seem to be many eligible cars though. As far as I can see the Xsara is the only FF rally car in the game (that can't be right surely) and the Golf is the only other FF race car to which you can fit dirt tyres. This could be the only time the Golf makes an appearance in these threads as it comes with CS as stock so is completely useless as a touring car.
