This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.
1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #29:

Beginners' Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Daytona - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Mid-Field Raceway - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Race Car Challenge: Nurburgring - 700 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

450PP at Daytona:
413PP - 0:57.331 - 3:13.994 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080kg - efini RX-7 Type R (FD) '91 - 3:19.133

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
454PP - 1:23.734 - 5:55.266 - Shelby GT350 '65 - SH - FR - 304hp - 1270kg - DB9 Coupe '06 - 5:55.864
413PP - 1:23.688 - 5:57.176 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080kg - Corvette Z06 (C5) '00 - 5:54.860

The Dino should be just doable with the right opponents, but I almost always got rabbits that were very fast in the straight and would pass me.

700PP RC at Nurburgring:
Realized I had used a slightly tuned car...so I will try to get back to this one.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
469PP - 1:22.782 - 5:53.091 - BMW Z4 M Coupé '08 - SH - FR - 340hp - 1495kg - RGT '00 - 5:53.341

This one wasn't straightforward at all, starting with winning with an invalid car, barely making it to second or third place with two others. Certainly the BMW laps, though the last, were not my best.

450PP at Daytona:
401PP - 1.01.935 - 3:25.058 - Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione '91 - SH - 4WD - 209hp - 1350kg - NSX '04 - 3.25.159

The NSX went off-throttle right before the finish line.

450PP at Daytona:

59.206 - 3m16.691

406PP - 59.206 - 3m16.691 - Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 - CS - FR - 203bhp - 654cc - 1250kg

I beat an NSX... didn't write the time down, but it was a couple of seconds down after I passed it at the start of the last lap.

RX7 was good fun, Didn't clatter into the rev limiter in top gear (5th) - BUT it does take along time to get to top speed... so don't be tempted to use it at Mid-Field

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
Mid Field Raceway...

Not sure 200bhp and Comfort tyres will cut it.

Time for a new car -

Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performace '12 in METALLIC Green Paint.

1m25.0?? - 6m05.322 - A distant 3rd
Had a couple of offs,as the car has no engine note so no aural hint as to how fast you are going into a corner that I take for granted. Looking down to the tacho or ... the speedo seems just plain wrong.

1m25.082 - 6m02.195 (Countach 25th - 6m01.726)

Getting better, still feels like I am giving up alot of time pussying about into corners. I got the lead into the bottom Hairpin, but the Lambo just breezed past on the final run in. Car obviously lacks mid speed and top speed... Cornering and grip levels are good and I'd say the brakes are good but I miss dropping cogs to balance the car - but that could well be my head missing the engine note.
Car Looks? Has a bit of a Ian Callum about the back end - But It is no XKR or DB7 or DB9... Front end reminds me of a Peugeot 308/Ford Focus with its great gopping maw. can I get under 1m25 and punch home a sub 6 minute race time?

1m24.926 - 5m59.768 Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performace '12 - SH - RR - 422BHP - 2018KG(Countach 25th - 5m59.393)

better cleaner but After I got the lead on Lap4 I was 0.8 up on the final split but the Lambo just powered past on the long long long run to the flag. I'm not for blocking weaving punting off or other Senna/Schumacher stunts - but managed to get the two goals I was trying for, though that may be with the aid of a slip stream to start that lap.

gah didn't note down the numbers!

edit - did now... how fat - and the power curve is like Monument Valley.

410PP
- 0:59.473 - 3:17.389 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR - 185hp - 900kg - Elise 111R '04 - 3:17.460

I'm not usually a fan of ovals but this was a real white-knuckle ride. Had to be very gentle with the steering inputs. No nipping out of the slipstream at the last moment here. Any sudden moves resulted in spinning like I was in the Wigan Casino. Great fun.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
474PP
- 1:22.633 - 5:53.906 - Mazda RX500 '70 - CS - MR - 247hp - 850kg - RGT '00 - 5:54.334
Great car for this great track. I wanted to do it on comforts and worked my way up to the Mazda via the 250 GT Berlinetta and S2000. The Ferrari is surely capable, maybe not the Honda.

starting with winning with an invalid car

Good find! Motegi has a braking zone instead of throttle finetuning.

450PP at Daytona:

- 59.414 - 3:16.524 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR - 185hp - 980kg - RX-7 Type RS-R (FD) '97 3:17.498

A '96 RX-7 got third place.

Took me several hours but I finally managed a clean lap:

700PP RC at Nurburgring:
684PP
- 6:00.165 - 6:25.098 - Mazda 787B Stealth Model - RH - MR - 838hp - 830kg - R92 CP '92 - 6:26.432

The trick was to have the Toyota 7 '70 in the line up. It will slow down other rabbits. At first I couldn't figure out why the AI kept ramming and swerving into me, but then I remembered they can't see me because I was in a stealth model. ;)

Several hours! I suppose I'm going to have to bite the bullet and have a go. I sense there may be some frustration involved.

Edit - Nah, this one's not for me. I had three goes and came dead last three times. I can't see how I'm going to win it driving cleanly and I'm not interested in demolition derby. Hats off to @Hastatus though. That's quite an achievement.
So back to Mid-Field for me. I mean this is supposed to be fun.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
463PP
- 1:24.233 - 5:56.682 - Tesla Roadster '08 - SH - MR - 277hp - 1238kg - Viper GTS '99 - 5:56.685 (+0.003)

I was sure I'd lost this one. The Viper was coming back like a train on the final straight. Pleasantly surprised when I saw the blue time.

435PP
- 1:23.697 - 5:57.456 - Nissan Silvia 240RS (S110) '83 - SH - FR - 235hp - 970kg - XKR Coupe '10 - 5:57.586

The ugly duckling rules again. BL quicker than the Tesla was a shocker.

In the Tesla
Now I know what a chunky monkey it is and how the power curve is great if you are going 30mph - but above that you don't get anything like 422bhp - I got a wonky grid that had a fat Merc on pole which backed the leaders up and near the end the Jag and the Alfa were mucking about - My good lap was a double slip stream job. - (End of lap 1 + Start of Lap 2 and End of lap 2)
I think I earned that Murcielago. (Had anyone bought it before? Never used a Chrome line car before Only won a Beemer M3 one a few races ago.)

Shame you can hardly hear the engine above the screeching tyres. And it hits the limiter about three quarters of the way down the straight (earlier if you get a draft). And the handling is pretty terrible. And yet it's still the most fun to drive for me. One thing it isn't is dull.

413PP - 1:23.778 - 5:57.975 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080kg - XKR Coupe '10 - 5:58.840

A bit slower than @Ed_Night of course but still an easy win against this opposition. I wouldn't want to go up against the Viper though. Now if I can win fairly easily in the Dino the Toyota FT-86 concept has got to be in with a chance.

Edit-
Got to about a second behind in the Toyota FT-86II Concept but of course that doesn't mean I have won if I'd gone two seconds quicker. Incredibly consistent (for me) lap times. 1:29 for the first lap then 1:27s for the rest almost without fail. It's got so much grip for the amount of power that there is no getting held up by traffic. You can just drive round them with almost no loss of time from going off-line. With the right grid, a couple of good drafts, and a faster driver...

Consolation prize
428PP - 1:25.xxx - 6:08.038 - Honda S2000 '99 - CS - FR - 242hp - 1240kg - BTR '86 - 6:08.104

Had a bit of luck here. Three abreast approaching turn 1, me on the outside, two cars on the inside had caught and were about to pass me. I could see the rainbow TVR gaining fast in my mirror and, rather than follow the faster cars through, he opted to bash into me, giving me just the boost I needed to get back in front for the turn. Won me the race without a doubt.
