This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #32:

Beginner Level Italian Festival: Roma - 400 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Fighting Muscle Cars: Mid-Field - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Rain Meisters: Spa - 500 PP - W*

* For this event you can put Heavy Wet Racing tires on your cars since it is the only option...though the tires might cost as much as the car.

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

400PP Italian at Roma:

- 1:35.290 - 5:06.048 - Abarth Grande Punto '09 - CS - FF - 152hp - 1240kg - Spider 3.0i V6 24V '01 - 5:06.924

500PP American at Mid-Field:

- 2:50.663 - 9:03.915 - Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 - W - FR - 319hp - 1202kg - F40 '92 - 9:15.732

Wet racing tires on cars of this PP level really doesn't feel right.

400PP Italian at Roma:
338PP
- 1:37.5xx - 5:13.903 - Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63 - CS - FR - 112hp - 950kg - 156 2.5 V6 24V '98 - 5:14.322

500PP American at Mid-Field:
432PP
-1:24.xxx - 4:36.712 - Ford RS200 '84 - SH - 4WD - 246hp - 1180kg - Mustang Boss 302 '13 - 4:36.842

I should really try to use some different cars. Both these had over 500 miles on the clock and required chassis restoration before I could win. Love them both though. The Alfa got a much needed wash too. It was looking very grubby. In one race at Mid-Field I started in 11th position because one of the AI (I think it was a Chevy Nova) crashed on the parade lap. Never seen that before.

500PP Wet at Spa:
470PP - 2:52.337 - 9:08.473 - Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C '09 - W - 4WD - 315bhp - 1450kg - GTO '84 - 9:10.010

As this performed so well in last week's TT I thought I'd give it a go here, and very well it went too. Great fun to fling around in the wet.

This was a nice race, The AI were always close and as I moved forward so the chase of cars clustered up behind me... Overtaking wasn't easy - I had to put a wheel on the curbs on the send to last right entering the Piazza Venezia - if you hold station you just lose so much momentum so I had to judge a few passes. considering how many Alfas were on track I didn't notice and door handle bashing - Malto Bene!

500PP American at Mid-Field:

-1:23.486 - 4:38.693 - Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R '00 - SH - FR - 438hp - 1628kg - Mustang Boss 302 '13 - 4:39.267

I had a 350GTR crash on the formation lap... (Didn't rewatch just how they managed it - but it was on a bit of track you really have to be having a fight with your passenger to create an accident at. "Dammit it woman! Leave "The Archers" on!"
I didn't enjoy the race, I was constantly going too deep into corners and the car had a heavy lazy feel that didn't help when you tried to go fast and the gear box put you in a gear so long I expected to see it deploy a sail or something from antiquity. BUT I can see every other Muscle car having even worse gearbox issues by not having a tall gear.

sorry for the vague numbers I just jotted them down and had to skedaddle to do some real life stuff. I'll insert them later, promise! the car was great. out of corners no Traction control meant I couldn't just mash the throttle - well I could - but you spool up the rears and waste time. In corners the car would skip about with pretty eager oversteer - never really a dangerous amount but not great if you are trying to power through the cresting Raidillon, blinded by a cloud of spray.

As we have 28 days of typical Wallonian summertime weather, I can see us getting much better when it is wetter as we train in the rain.

fixed the numbers - Obvious tip but dip your headlamps in the spray to get better forward view.

Time for some proper muscle -

415PP Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '78 - Fun to drive but too slow. 9th place.

453PP Mustang Mach 1 '71 - Comes with comfort softs but they are huge so plenty of grip. Corners and stops nicely, loads of power but the stock gears mean you are hitting the limiter all over the place. One more gear and it would be a winner but 4th place and 9s down was all I could manage.

451PP Chevrolet Camaro SS '69 - Sports tyres and slightly better gears. Only hitting the limiter on the main straight but 3rd place, 4s behind.

462PP Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67 - Better yet, but still only 3rd place.

454PP
-1:23.539 - ??? - Shelby GT350 '65 - SH - FR - 304hp - 1270kg - Mustang Boss 302 '13 - ???

So much better than the other classic muscle cars it almost feels like cheating. It's more of a road-legal racing car. Forgot to take a pic of the results and no replay so no overall times.

455PP -1:25.447 - 4.46.052 - Corvette Stingray Convertible '69 - CS - FR - 298hp - 1552kg - Charger SRT8 '11 - 4:46.455

Got a lucky line-up with no Callaway or Series One Shelby so it was just about right for a nice close race. Maybe against this lot the Camaro or Cougar might be in with a chance.

I'm liking the way the pack bunches up in these races, all the cars crossing the line within a few seconds of each other. It makes for some good close-quarters battles.
And it is a Shelby that crashes before the start, not a Nova. I saved the replay this time to see what happened. The replay starts just before the crash so it's not entirely clear, but from the screeching I'd guess he'd overcooked the tyres, lost control and drove into the wall. How embarrassing for the poor chap.

Most fun of all though was the Series One Supercharged on CM. Still capable of beating the fastest of rabbits but some care is needed.

Nice clean race and I had both 350GT's on he grid, but the 11 car was the El Camino... I lie I actually repeated this event 3 times (So 4 races in total!)
and managed to lower my race time down to that above... I am sure a smoother run can go sub 80 seconds for a lap and easily get under 4m30 for the race, but I kept getting involved in traffic - but it was fun traffic.

This long sleek Corvette is much more sports car than muscle car, I was getting the back end to step out and all the good stuff...

Also ran the car with Monsoon tyres at Spa... that was extremely easy as the AI was a very poor grid.

Quite good, I had been passing by slide up the inside and brake after they brake... but I came upon a Cerbera who I felt was going a bit too deep for my comfort level... sure enough we both missed the apex, and that TVR was faster - faster into the gravel trap that is... I just held the out side of the damp track... but I so nearly had my blinkers on and joined him in the kitty litter. Quite good fun this and so much money I don't mind buying the 70's Funk Rubber (Super groovy tyres).

I'm not sure if this was fun or torture. The line between a perfectly executed turn and snap oversteer is a very fine one. I had several goes before I managed to do three laps on the track. Lost it a couple of times at Blanchiment (Google Translate tells me this is French for "filling of the pants"), well past the apex, straightening up, feeding in the power, and out of nowhere there's the wall in front of me. Lost it pretty much everywhere at some point if I'm honest. Luckily got the Yellow Bird rabbit who unsurprisingly was taking it very gently. It must have been bloody terrifying in that thing.

- 2:55.xxx - 9:19.939 - Ford RS200 '84 - W - 4WD - 246hp - 1180kg - Viper GTS '02 - 9:22.409

From the ridiculous to the sublime. This was a lot of fun, using lift-off oversteer to get extra rotation, powering out of the turns. Eau Rouge/Raidillon is almost flat-out, just a slight lift... maybe if I was a bit braver.

Also tried the Anniversary Alpine A110 which handles superbly but frustratingly runs out of steam at about 125mph. The very peaky power curve can take you by surprise though. Second place was the best I managed, but with a tip-top drive and the right grid it's probably possible.

One more..

440PP - 2:54.074 - 9:15.835 - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - W - MR - 194hp - 860kg - GT-R '07 - 9:16.842

This is the lowest PP 2WD I've managed to win with. No surprise there.
