This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #39:

Beginner's Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Red Bull Ring Short Track - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Deep Forest Reverse - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Race Car Challenge: Grand Valley Speedway - 600 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...hotiLFp3i88kP4fjOAJzbxl_w/edit#gid=2030933764

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

Last night's results -

450PP at Red Bull Ring Short Track:
359PP
- 1:08.xxx - 4:57.814 - Alpine A310 1600VE '73 - CS - RR - 123hp - 930kg - GTO Twin Turbo '96 - 4:57.850

This was fun. Ran the race quite few times and only won twice. The leading AI get pretty feisty when you pass them in a much slower car.

500PP at Deep Forest Reverse:
470PP
- xxx - 8:04.979 - RUF 3400S '00 - SH - MR - 305hp - 1300kg - SL 55 AMG (R230) '02 - 8:10.105

I only had time for one go at this having spent so much time in the Alpine. Very easy win with SH.

600PP RC at Grand Valley Speedway:
599PP
- 1:45.584 - 9:21.846 - Alpine VGT Race Mode - RH - MR - 443hp - 900kg - GT-R Concept LM Car - 9:23.662

500PP at Deep Forest Reverse:
413PP
- xxx - 8:08.750 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080kg - XKR Coupe '10 - 8:13.055

I reckon pretty much any car that comes with SH can win here. So onto the comfy tyres...

454PP - xxx - 8:21.886 - Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta '61 - CS - FR - 275hp - 960kg - IS F '07 - 8:22.252

I was hoping to get the Alpine hat-trick but couldn't manage it in the normal A110. I thought I had the Anniv one but can't find it. Maybe in the stockyard. The Stratos let me down this time too (or maybe I let the Stratos down).

A couple more

500PP at Deep Forest Reverse:
406PP
- xxx - 8:21.046 - Toyota FT-86II concept '11 - SH - FR - 198hp - 1230kg - SL55 AMG (R230) '02 - 8:30.147

450PP at Red Bull Ring Short Track:
404PP

I'm having a lot of fun at Grand Valley. What I liked was how some AI cars became a lot more aggressive if you bumped them. In trying to catch me or outrun me some of them actually overshot the turns. Those AI cars even try to pass cars that are in front of them after they've been following them most of the time. Try and get them annoyed and see what they do. It's an extremely easy race to win with the Chaparral 2J. My best race was was a 9:02.x and I did one lap at 1:40.7 and most around 1:41.x. The 2J generates so much downforce that no AI car can keep pace with it around turns. The Kokusai McClaren and some other cars can certainly out-accelerate the 2J but if you draft them, they can't totally pull away from the sleek 2J. The race I did the 9:02 had the Toyota TS030 Hybrid in second place at the start and a Fairlady Z in first. The 2J caught the TS030 before the start of the 5th lap down the front straight and then that was the end of that. I think the TS030 finished at least six seconds behind at the end. I think the TS030 is about the fastest AI vehicle used because I've seen the F1 GTR beat the Ford GT LM and Zonda LM Race Car and the TS030 beats the F1 GTR.

Last night I ran about 8 races with the Chaparral even with the McClaren F1 GTR starting in first position and the Chaparral just destroys them all. The A1 cars I checked only had best laps of around 1:47 or so and the Chaparral can easily turn 1:42 and 1:41s without any traffic. It's like free prize money especially with daily check-in bonuses. I made sure that the fastest cars were in first place to start the races to make the races somewhat interesting. I even used a 590PP 2J and it only slowed down acceleration a bit. It still goes around turns like a slot-car and flies over the curbs like they didn't exist. Again, the Chaparral seems to be the go-to car for an easy win. Jim Hall was quite a genius although the actual 2J had a lot of problems and didn't win many races. Fully-active ground effects... who woulda thunk it back in the '70s.

I've used a couple of other cars like the lowest Pescarolo Courage and the McClaren F1 GTR car to win closer races, but for me nothing comes close to that 2J. What a wonderfully easy car to drive. I want to try some of those GT500 class cars which will definitely prove challenging for me to win with. I also want to try the McClaren F1 Kokusai which seems really interesting the way it could leave the 2J in the dust on straights.

These 5 lap seasonals are nice but its more fun doing the 10 lap seasonals with tire wear and fueling pit stops with a little rain in the mix. I can't wait for the next ones like that.

Surprising how fast the Dino is.

Compared to a car lower only a few PPs from it.

The Dino is one of those cars with a ridiculously low PP rating. I don't think there's anything under 450PP that's faster. Maybe the Elise 111R but that's another one with lower PP than it deserves. I haven't tried it here but here are a few lesser Lotuses.

500PP at Deep Forest Reverse:
425PP
- xxx - 8:23.775 - Lotus Esprit Turbo HC '87 - CS - MR - 214hp - 1146kg - Corvette Z06 (C5) '00 - 8:24.357

424PP - xxx - 8:22.369 - Lotus Elise 111S '03 - CS - MR - 153hp - 806kg - Corvette Z06 (C5) '00 - 8:22.621

408PP - xxx - 8:23.118 - Lotus Elise '96 - CS - MR - 118hp - 755kg - Viper GTS '99 - 8:23.210

I've been trying it in the 388PP Elise '11 but it's getting tough now.

The FT-86 is not a bad car, a bit heavy and prone to understeer, but often wins the lowest PP crown because it is one of the lowest PP cars that comes with SH tyres, the others being the Lancia Delta HF Integrale (let down by very long gears) and the Plymouth XNR Ghia Roadster (a bit rubbish).

... and done

388PP
- xxx - 8:27.704 - Lotus Elise '11 - CS - MR - 133hp - 876kg - XKR Coupe '10 - 8:27.938

Took a bit of a battering from the AI. They didn't seem too pleased about having such a slow car in front of them and preferred to try to drive through, rather than round me, but I ran a clean race. Needed a line-up missing the faster opponents though.

I had a go in the 111R as well. It's considerably faster than the Dino - 7:47. Won by 14s.
