This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #42:

Beginners' Level Ferrari Challenge: Big Willow - 560 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Japanese '80s Challenge: Tsukuba - 450 PP - CS
Expert Level Historic Racing Car Challenge - Mount Panorama - 600 PP - RH

My results so far with a wheel and automatic transmission:

560PP Ferrari at Big Willow:
481PP
- 1:25.383 - 4:34.010 - Ferrari 512 BB '76 - SH - MR - 354hp - 1400 kg - 430 Scuderia '07 - 4:34.486

This race can almost be done with the Dino (the next lowest PP) if you have the 599 as the rabbit.

450PP Japanese 80s at Tsukuba:
358PP
- 1:12.881 - 6:31.521 - Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 - CS - FR - 117hp - 940kg

This was the only eligible car I had so I do not know what else is out there for this.

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
581PP
- 2:03.555 - 10:46.490 - Jaguar XJ13 Chrome Line - RH - MR - 521hp - 975kg - 2D '67 - 10:52.116

A was 10 seconds off with the Shelby and 5 seconds off with the Ford (due to easy spinouts). The 2D '67 appears to be the slowest rabbit. The 2J and the Toyota 7 are significantly faster rabbits.

560PP Ferrari at Big Willow:
413PP
- 1:31.xxx - 4:49.978 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080 kg - 430 Scuderia '07 - 4:50.013

No almost about it. I think I got very lucky here. It was my first attempt, messy and slow - but the AI responded likewise. When I tried again for a better time the Scud did the usual trick of flying past on the final straight.

450PP Japanese 80s at Tsukuba:
353PP
- ??? - 6:38.302 - Toyota MR2 1600 G '86 - CS - MR - 127hp - 1120kg - Silvia 240RS (S110) '83- 6:38.430

Again first attempt but this time I didn't tempt fate by trying again. There's a Civic '83 @349PP, @coryclifford.

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
Tried the Dodge Challenger but with top speed of 112mph it was on the limiter for 80% of the lap. I'll try the GT40 later.

I gotta try the Dino!

Did Tsukuba in the Ballade CRX at 363 pretty easy. I'll definitely be trying the '83 Civic after I unglue myself from the new Bathurst event. I'm very close in the GT40, but I slip around just enough when it matters.

Pretty lame seasonals compared to the previous group. 560pp Ferrari is decent but limited in only being able to use a few cars. 450pp Japanese 80s: I had not one car in my garage to do this with, but had 44 in the stockyard. That being said doesnt thrill me in using cars that I refer to as junkyard (stockyard) material. And last the 600pp Historic on one of the lamest tracks in the game, Won all of them on the first try with the Dino CRX and 2J. For the money grinders, Im sticking with the Ferrari race. Good track and a challenge with a couple of lower PP cars

Oh , hi EeePee @coryclifford , did you sign up for GTP_WRS yet? (we run many stock car combos , you know)

I was going to re-run this one .. but, when I went to watch the replay after winning , my PS3 froze!! :grumpy: :banghead:
It only took me 30 tries to get the grid in the first place.. :banghead::banghead:
Luckily I took pictures and saved the replay before watching it.

Before this grid I ran 10:59.691 , bl 2:06.825 , 3rd vs 2D 3.861 sec ahead (driven by T.Sato)

After restarting the PS3 and going back to seasonal events to gold again the Expert race , I received the prize car and saw that I had already golded it.. ok.
Apparently I was able to leave the replay & exit the race screen back to seasonal event screen before I had restarted the PS3.:lol:

560PP Ferrari at Big Willow:
413PP
- 1:28.141 - 4:41.920 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080 kg - 430 Scuderia '07 - 4:41.982

450PP Japanese 80s at Tsukuba:

Having fun sliding this little car around.

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
588PP
- 2:03.992 - 10:44.957 - FORD Mark IV Race Car '67 - RH - MR - 503hp - 1000kg - 2D '67 - 10:45.126

562PP - 2:05.656 - 10:54.116 - FORD GT40 Race Car '69 - RH - MR - 493hp - 998kg - 330 P4 '67 - 10:54.220

Congratulate Ford for winning in Le Mans, beat some Ferrari with two GT.

When first enter to this event, appear on top of field were two over 60+pp with extra dwonforce spaceships and one 100+pp overpower dragster, just felt disgusting.

I tried the GT40 a few times but had no luck with the line-ups, which meant frustrating races with a bunch of slow cars having their own little battles and taking up the whole track, then a bunch of medium speed cars which were ok until you come across a Streamliner parked sideways across the track, and then Chaparrals and the Toyota 30s ahead.

@MadMax When such a seasonal is restarted immediately after the first victory, the game autosaves during the rolling start (some stuff, this is not a proper save). So I think it generally saves there.

560PP Ferrari at Big Willow:
481PP
- 1:25.529 - 4:33.943 - Ferrari 512 BB '76 - SH - MR - 354hp - 1400kg - 430 Scuderia '07 - 4:34.234

Probably one of the most unhappy-with-sports-tyres machines in.

450PP Japanese 80s at Tsukuba:
358PP
- 1:12.981 - 6:33.705 - Mazda Eunos Roadster(NA Special Package) '89 - CS - FR - 117hp - 940kg - SILVIA 240RS (S110) '83 - 6:34.142

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
I've been trying the race with a Ferrari 330 P4 but the best I have been able to do is losing by ~2 seconds to the Toyota 7 (no 2J in the race). I'll have to see if it is possible to get a field without the 7 or the 2J.

It is possible for mortals to beat them (no 2J or Toyota 7).

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
591PP - 2:00.982 - 10:32.121 - Ferrari 330 P4 '67 - RH - MR - 448hp - 792kg - Chaparral 2D '67 - 10:32.566

I think that Willems in the 330 P4 pushes them to be faster. Watch out for Sato, he tends to run in to you (I would have received a 5 second penalty). I know of a couple places were I could make up time, so now to take on the Toyota 7.

Tried the Ferrari race again and i could only got a 4:39.073

But this week i mainly did the Historic one.
And a single 2J field is still possible, got a couple of wins by 2J went off track. But i would like to see if it could win by speed alone (maybe a lot of luck and blocking)

First it spin me off (It was the closest fight with the 2J i got)

Revenge and comfortable win

600PP Historic Race Car at Mount Panorama:
591PP
- 1:58.363 - 10:15.081 - Ferrari 330 P4 '67 - RH - MR - 448hp - 792kg - 2J '70 - 10:15.162

A bit rude on overtake, some bumps here there and the second challenger nearly killed me when it suddenly cut to right side.
