This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #51:

Beginner Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Special Stage Route 5 Clubman - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: London - 500 PP - SS
Expert Level Race Car Challenge: Grand Valley Speedway - 600 PP - RH

Repeat of Stock A-Spec Seasonal #8

Last time the records were:
Beginner - 359PP - Alpine A310 1600VE '73 - total time = 6:19.495 - MadMax
Intermediate - 490PP - Honda HSC '03 - total time = 5:33.751 - StirlingMoose
Expert - 553PP - IMPREZA Super Touring Car - total time = 9:55.480 - MadMax

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

450PP at SS Route 5:
373PP
- 1:08.799 - 6:15.099 - Toyota 2000GT '67 - CS - FR - 153hp - 1120kg - Elise 111R '04 - 6:15.493
I gave the Alpine a shot...but that thing is like driving on ice. Rear wheel drive on sloping curves is not my friend. Didn't spend more than one race on this one since I spent so much time on the Intermediate.

500PP at London:
490PP
- 0:56.812 - 5:27.929 - Honda HSC '03 - SH - MR - 324hp - 1150kg - F430 '06 - 5:28.886

Tried this race a lot of times and went through at least 50 different lineups but I couldn't ever get the Buick Special to show up like last time. The Shelby Series One might be fast enough to win here, but you need to find the right lineup: (lap: 58.079; time: 5.31.501). This race with the Honda was the only time I ever saw the F430 as the rabbit.

600PP RC at Grand Valley:
552PP
- 1:49.559 - 9:53.974 - Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car - RH - 4WD - 423hp - 980kg - Corvette Z06 (C6) LM Race Car - 9:54.028

1PP lower than record. Easy win with this car. 4WD is super useful.

450PP at SS Route 5:
348pp -
1:11.850 - 6:29.858 - Peugeot 106 Rallye '03 - CS - FF - 101bhp - 890kg. TVR V8S - 6:31.

You catch the front pack at the end of the 4th lap and then watch as they get away on the straight. But the corners are just a joy in the little Pug. and some "racecraft" to keep them behind out of the last corner onto the straight is all you need for the win.

1:07.xxx - 6:12. 962 - Alpine A110 1600S 1972 - CS - RR - 138hp - 715kg - RX-7 Type RS-R ’97 - 6:13.594
359PP - 1:11.xxx - 6:30.891 - Alpine A310 1600VE '73 - CS - RR - 123hp - 930kg - Skyline GT-R V-spec ‘93

Easy enough first time in the A110. It would be more fun on CM I reckon. The A310 is great fun. Spun it out a few times before getting a reasonably clean run. There were a few wall taps and and a fair bit of flailing about trying to catch it in there but I got to the finish and luckily had some easy competition.

I spent quite a long time at London with no success. I wanted to do it in something appropriately British but it's not that easy.
E-Type - What was I thinking? I hadn't noticed the SS tyres at that point and hadn't looked at the results from last time.
Elise 111R - Theoretically I thinks it's capable of winning in terms of lap times but the AI get in your way in the corners and pull away on the straights. Frustrating.
The Esprit 350 turbo was looking promising but I fancied a change so moved on to GV.

@Hastatus That FTO is proving to be a very useful bit of kit. I'll have to give it a go. For once an expert event with cars I actually enjoy.

@SlantSix Good job in the Pug. It's one of my favourites.

600PP RC at Grand Valley:

- 1:49.240 - 9:49.722 - Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car - RH - 4WD - 429cv - 980kg - Ford GT LM Race Car - 9:49.837
543PP - 1:50.092 - 9:54.477 - Audi Quattro S1 Rally Car '86 - RH - 4WD - 476cv - 1090kg - SRT Viper GTS-R (Team Oreca) #91 '00 - 9:54.773

As you may know FTO is one my preferred racing cars.
I did a couple of 1.48 lap time hunting the Zonda LM without success...

Audi has the same power-2-weight ratio of FTO but a less confortable setup at GV.
The time could be lower with more practice because I did 1.49 laps several times, 9:49 of FTO could be too challenging for me.

500PP at London:
492PP
- 0:55.866 - 5:26.914 - Suzuki GSX-R/4 '01 - SH - MR - 175cv - 640kg - Ferrari 599 '06 - 5:27.590

Very challenge race by SH and also because I'm not familiar with this city track.
Aside from Suzuki I got only 2nd place with all the better stock car of the 500PP level so far.

450PP at SS Route 5:

- 1:10.945 - 6.25.047 - VW Lupo GTI '01 - CS - FF - 116cv - 975kg - Honda NSX '95 - 6:25.130
388PP - 1:09.657 - 6:16.597 - Renault R5 Turbo '80 - CS - MR - 162cv - 970kg - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - 6:17.032
399PP - 1:05.530 - 5:59.343 - Renault Clio R.S. 2.0 16V '02 - CS - FF - 172cv - 1035kg - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - 5:59.866

Lupo confirmed as a great FF car at 350PP level with nice sound too.
In further unlucky races I performed low 1:10 / 2:22...

Always by my stressed PAD w/ AT ABS=1 only.

ciao

Wheel, manual, everything off.

This and the Cosmo @342pp seem to be the limit - at least for me - as the front straight just kills anything with less power, or the stupid AI get all up in you business.

I don't want to spend half a million on a special or use the GSX, so I tried many standard cars @ London for the 500pp and, though enjoyable to drive and slide around, they just can't get near the Rabbit. I got the NSX R and the GTB Ferrari within 4 seconds of 1st but can't close the gap. It's the SH tyres that are the limiting factor. I put SS tyres on the Lotus Esprit Sport and got gold by +1 second. It is some two seconds a lap faster for me on the SS than the SH.
I might try some more laps in the GTB as it is a blast to drive and has some good power out of the slow corners...but the AI, again, are as dumb as #### and I may end up throwing the PS3 out into the street, after setting it on fire.

Another good FF runner at this PP level, 6:35 could be raced but it's time for dinner now.

This car was featured in Jay Leno's Garage this week. I drooled. In white though. Wrong colour but it still looked good. I got beaten a couple of times by the NXS '95 - couldn't pull a big enough gap to avoid being pipped at the post, but the Evo didn't quite have the legs.

Seems they remove the Buick from the AI list, so the next best rabbit blocker is the SL65.

Maybe a victory but there was heavy blocking at the last straight.

4WD helped an aggressive DS3 driving.
Of course a friendly starting grid helped too with Nissan Z started 4th after 3x GT3 cars.
6x races in total before to get Gold, better times during lost races: 1:51.185 - 10:01.713

Ciao

Not as good as @SlantSix 👍 and needed a lot of 'racecraft', but at least better than best last time :) Maybe will try some other cars
