Stock LFA Wrong Transmission?

I like racing unmodified cars in GT5 and this one is really bugging me. In real life the LFA has 6 speeds, so why does the stock LFA in GT5 have ONLY 5 speeds? I realized after I upgraded the tranny to 6 speed racing one, it changes the cabin noise and gives it this whine!

You sort of contradicted yourself there. I'm pretty sure it had 6 gears on stock transmission. Use manual and see if you can change to 6th gear yourself to check.
 
It seems like since introducting real FC gearboxes where you can alter individual gear ratios the stock gearboxes on alot of cars have been messed up.

The LFA max speed on its stock gearbox is 300MPH or something, which is why you won't see 6th. The Evora's is set at 295MPH too I think.

Unfortunately you can only see the setting of the standard gearbox once youve bought a fully customisable one I believe.
 
I think the Max gear speed is set up by the factory so you dont ruin your engine trying to prove you have testicles on a road in nevada

It has 6, but 6th gear is about reached at about 208 MPH...I don't know why
Also take a stock LFA so you don't lose the sound, and go to SSR7 and tunnel blast. One of the most beautiful sounds ever.
 
Isn't there something with Lexus where some of there cars have "extra" gears for better fuel econ? You don't use it for racing but you shift to it because it uses less gas. In real life (not sure about in game), you can even shift into 8th gear on some Lexus models.
 
^ Correct, you have 5 gears for usable performance and 6th for cruising. Same with the C6 Corvette and the IS-F.

The Corvettes and Camaros have been like that since '92/'93(with the manual gear box)
 
Same with the Premium GTS Viper.

I was cruising HSR the other day and crossed the finish at a bit over 350 km/hr before i hit 6th gear, which now still had 2000 rpms to pull. I bet top speed on that thing drafting is like 500+

I've noticed the stock gearboxes on some cars have changed since 1.0 and patch versions to address some of these inconsistencies. In the case of the Evora (or was it Elise?), the manufacturer's gearbox data correlates to the gearbox ratios in the game, with one exception that the manufacturer says fifth and sixth gears have a different final gear ratio than the first four. I'm not sure how that works but I suspect it would explain some of the inconsistencies for cars appearing to have absurdly long gearboxes when really they shouldn't; I just don't think the current transmission dialog gui has a way to display variable final gear setups.
 
As others have said, most production cars with a six speed actually just have a double overdrive. 4th is still typically the closest to direct drive and 5th and 6th are overdriven for economy. Prevents gas guzzler taxes, makes the numbers on the window look better, and also increases the total average fuel economy for an entire brand.
 
I doubt the gear ratio is different from the real one

Yes the Lexus IS in the dealership has 8 gears (or at least it does once it's been RM'd). It's actually quite a pain in the butthole as I learn most track by gears for cornering and with 8 gears you can go into one corner high revs in 4th gear, come round to the same corner and you'll be in 5th sometimes even 6th :scared:
