This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

This thread is for people to post their lap times who have used the following limitations:

1) Car must be stock: no upgrades to cars are permitted (this includes upgrades that do not increase PP such as transmissions).
2) Fresh oil changes in order to temporarily increase HP and PP are not permitted. If you have done an oil change recently you should lower your car's power to the non-fresh-oil-change HP level or wait until the HP has returned to the OEM oil level.
3) You must use the original tires that the car came with.
4) No "Car Settings" like Brake Balance can be adjusted.
5) No SRF or ASM is allowed: other Driver Assists are permitted. [SRF is obviously permitted if PD has forced drivers to employ it.]

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #16:

Non-Racecar Super Lap: target 2:25.000 - Mount Panorama - 500PP - SH

Rally Car Super Lap: target 4:05.000 - Eiger Nordwand K Trail - 550PP - DT*

*You are permitted to use Dirt Tires instead of the stock tires in this instance. ;)

My times so far with an automatic transmission and a wheel:

Non-Racecar at Mount Panorama:
Shelby GT350 ’65 – 454 PP - SH – 2:34.xxx
Dodge Challenger R/T ’70 - 490 PP – SH - 2:38.xxx [tops out at 180 kmph]
Ferrai 250 GT Berlinetta …‘61- 454 PP – CS - 2:38.xxx [tops out at 205 kmph and costs 7.5 million; about 1 second faster than the Shelby GT 350 ’65 when it has the same SH tires]
Ferrari 365 GTB4 ’71 – 496 PP – SH - 2:23.407 [easy on my first lap]

Rally at Eiger Norwand K Trail:
Quattro S1 Rally Car 15th Anniv ’86 – 549 PP – Dirt Tires - 3:57.462
[beating the time is easy, but not hitting the walls when your car wants to go faster so easily is not so easy on such a long track; lower PP cars shouldn't have too much trouble getting gold]

There is no Rally car that comes with dirt tires...correct?

There is no Rally car that comes with dirt tires...correct?

Not that I've seen, and I've got the majority of them. If I use the car filter that the event gives you I get no cars show up because they're all on the wrong tyres.

Rally event I had no cars in my garage eligible - I think they come with Sporty Hards as standard - I think I had to buy snow tyres when we ran Chamonix in Lancers a while back...
So bought a shiny new Renault 5 Turbo - And had to fit Dirt tyres... but didn't enjoy the first mile (Hit the plastic tape of infinite strength on a downhill section) so quit out.

Bathurst.
Took a TVR Tuscan (Road - Samba Green) as I felt guilty that I didn't use it after the Ostereichring-mini had a 500pp event and I used the Toyota FT-1 I think.
Anyhow my only ghost was a guy who ran a GT40 Mk1 with active steering(!?!) and traction control and ABS on and god knows how much tuning. (I bet he even had the radio on!) Still as a ghost it was a second better than gold so a nice indicator.
My TVR was ... entertaining as ever with a bucket full of oversteer into Hell Corner.
Simple corner but I had a less than bonzer line through it. Up the Hill and the car was good, Griffin Bend is a tough nut, and in the Morning sun (Some oddball time - odd shadows - and those evil Koala's watching - waiting - planning.) Not a great line here. Infact most of the early Lap I was not that dialled in. but once up through the cutting and into the "goodbit" through Suliman and Skyline I felt happy.
The esses and the dipper are a scrabble, lots of friendly colourful concrete walls but all clean and it always feels mightily fast here.

Conrod to the Chase was - 5th gear brake earlier than I like for the Chase, make the twisty bit under the bridge, brake well before the splitter for the pit lane entry - again at slow speed and a lot of turning the TVR was eager to make it interesting - armful of oppo as I burbled up the hill to the finish line to record my first lap.
1.6 off a gold I think - Quite a gap but I am sure the car has it to crack a gold - but with me driving, it won't be easy. Still not a bad go for a One lap and that is it run. I knew was running careful so as not to blow the lap - but braking too early is better than crashing or blowing a lap.

I wonder how much of gain people make with every added lap. And then with the law of diminishing returns, how many laps people put into a time trial before they call it quits.

...
Hmm getting gold at the rally event is easy you say - May have to retry this, but the car felt so awful to drive... may have to run some all wheel drive car - maybe a Toyota RSC for a bit of a GT4 flashback

Eiger Nordwand is hard. Disqualified by just a slight touch to the fence.

Only a few choices in my guarage, I picked Lancia Delta S4. I failed many times by those slight scratches to the road side. Finally got the gold once I finished a clean whole lap.

And then, I watched the replay of the top driver. It's just eye opening. Almost half a min. faster than me. That Evo WRC car slides through every corner in such a precision, just wow!

There was a lack of interesting cars for Bathurst in my garage so I optimistically went for a Ferrari 250GT Berlineta, lovely drive but only four gears and runs out of puff on the straights, and the obligatory Tesla Roadster. Low thirties for Bronze with those two, but the Tesla never fails to entertain. Trying to go from the Cutting up over the top to the beginning of the Esses without lifting kept me amused for ages.

But I needed to do some shopping for an interesting car capable of gold. First up, inspired by Ryk's post,
TVR Tuscan Speed 6 00 (500PP SH) - 2:24.094
Took a few laps to get up to speed, but it's a nice well-behaved drive. I don't know why it sounds like train whistle though. I can't work out if it's the engine or the wind, whistling through the ill-fitting doors.

Next, inspired by Hastatus
Ferrari 365 GTB4 ’71 (496 PP SH) - 2:23.098
Another well-behaved car but a little faster and a little more fun.

And finally, inspired by the car search
Ferrari 512BB ’76 (486 PP SH) - 2:25.404
This one's a right drama queen after the last two. I'm sure it's capable of gold but after spinning out for the umpteenth time trying to find that extra half second, I'm afraid I gave up.

Yeah I was initially looking for something from the 60s with the car search but after failing over and over I decided to try the 70s and this Ferrari caught my eye. I was very, very surprised by how well the 71 handles.

I'm finding the current selection of races pretty boring so I thought I would come and give this challenge a go to make them a bit more interesting:

Non-Racecar at Mount Panorama:
- Chevrolet Camaro SS '10 - 498 PP - SH : 2:24.791 (Gold)
It's a good fit to this circuit, it responds well to being thrown around and has serious pace coming down Conrod straight. I reckon a top driver could find another 5 seconds with this car.

Rally at Eiger Norwand K Trail:
- Renault R8 Gordini '66 – 344 PP – DT : 4:57.932 (Bronze)
Getting the Bronze time with this perplexing inclusion was pretty fun actually. It's so eager to have the rear pop out you have to be super careful with steering input. At one point during my lap coming down the hill I slid through a slight corner and was descending perpendicular to the road for at least 100m, managed to save it and finish a clean lap...good times :)

@MisterWeary , I was avoiding using that Camaro as I knew it'd gold the event with ease. Still , likely one of the cheapest cars that can get gold in the TT.

And good job getting bronze in the R8 Gordini! 👍

I tested a few more drivetrains at Eiger K Trail:

FF 4:22.353 Xsara Rally Car '99 DT 474pp/294bhp/960kg (struggles with grip pretty much everywhere on every gear)
FR 4:20.976 240RS Rally Car '85 DT 440pp/236bhp/970kg (struggling with grip on corner exits)
4WD 3:56.163 Escort Rally Car '98 DT 473pp/299bhp/1230kg (the 3rd cheapest 4WD , replay attached)

So , 4WD is what it takes to get (easy) gold. I tested the PAJERO Evolution Rally Raid Car '03 , but could only manage a red 4:21 lap.
After that I tested the PAJERO Rally Raid Car '85 and the first clean lap I got was a 4:08.4

So I knew this har had a chance for gold and then I sat down for a couple of hours and countless red laps untill I got this :

Rally Car / Eiger Norwand K Trail
4:04.747 PAJERO Rally Raid Car '85 DT 417pp/225bhp/1202kg (replay attached)

Attached the two (gold) rally replays and Mount Panorama 3400S '00 replay.

I also golded the drift trials using stock cars: (controller , directional buttons)

American NRC - Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo Concept '13 SH 6571pts (previous seasonal TT prize car)
Racing Car Drift Trial - Diablo GT2 '98 SH 6165pts (prize car , since reclassified as race car it was obvious choise vs other race cars that come with Racing Hard tyres)

Oh I do know how you feel - drove >30 laps in the 512BB Stock yesterday, 3 of them valid, best valid: 2:25.863. I have a few invalid ones in the high 2:24 region, but boy is it hard to keep it on a straight line in the twisty bits...

Finally managed Gold in a GT-R R34 V spec Nür (the one with the unspeakable long name) in the first lap, what a change of pace with its 4WD...

Had a go at Eiger. (This is an Eiger rant - and an admission that my blue line lap is not a stock car.)

I used a Mitsubishi SuperLancer Evo - and I bolted on some pow-ah (I think an engine tune and a low rev turbo and maybe the power limiter - Even with that it took many laps before I got close to a clean lap - and that was just shy of gold.
I then had a cluster of much better laps that I binned in a succession of goofy mistakes (Best was out of the tunnel for the final dip right/left before the line... but at full banana the car understeered wide and thump into the fence. This and next lap invalidated. GRRR
I had too many restarts to count.

Eventually I got a sequence of nice early sections and was on for a good time. 6 seconds better than my almost gold lap... I then backed off and crawled over the last bit of the lap (Like they used to do in really WRC racing so they were not first on track the next new stage) for two reasons.
1- I was just after gold, so gold time was all I was after to get the paint chip.
2- Maybe I can beat this time in a real car later in the week - it will be easier beating that time than one set 7-8 seconds faster.

I know I used a "very cheaty car" and I am even more dumb than that as I thought it had a good prize paint chip... Gunmetal Number 1? (It was the drift trial that had a nice paint chip.) So, extra idiot points for the Ryk on that. But pulling a soft end to the lap does mean I could repeat and beat this time in a "normal car" Now I have invested so much time in the track.

Very odd track as when you are zoned in you make loads of time. However if you are out of phase, you seem to hit every apex (Literally, hit them) or else the car will snap out of control and you end up sailing sideways into a corner not sure what corner of the car is going to hit a barrier.

Definitely, a track that you need to know very well before you can attack it. The start of the lap is ... maybe the hardest bit. Twisty lumpy with added tram rails and leap out at you apex barriers. Even with a bongo car most of my ghosts were well up on me here. Of course as you learn it (Or remember it) those nasty corners become almost like old mates If I had a car that felt nice to drive then I would enjoy it more but the car feels detached at times, floating not really biting.

I think I did 50 kilometres on this event and only posted two clean laps - terrible driving.
So hats off to all of you that attempt this trial and get a clean lap and manage to get gold. ( I think I was in 6000th place so not that many people have attempted and got gold for this event, yet)
When you stop and the game puts up your Gold time. I'm one of the crowd cheering you on.
(I booed the screen when my own Ryk Dastardly gold time popped up.)

On to the rallying then. FFB down to two and my wheel is still fighting back hard. First up was the Lancia STRATOS Rally Car '77. What was I thinking? I think I managed a lap and I think it was bronze. 4wd is a must for gold here, unless someone can prove me wrong. Next I tried the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Rally Car '85. Much easier and did a 4:10.xxx first clean lap. Rather than persevere I decided to try out its younger and beefier brother to see if there was a big difference, and there is.

Rally at Eiger Norwand K Trail: Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally Car '86 (540PP DT) - 4.04.427

It was a very messy lap so I was thinking I could improve on that by at least 5 seconds. A few more laps and it turns out they're all messy. You can get a gold time in this car by taking it very cautious in the corners and using the power to make up the time on the straight bits.
