This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #25:

Light Car Company Rocket Super Lap: target 1:33.000 - Brands Hatch Grand Prix - 620PP - SH

Race Car Super Lap: target 1:21.000 - Apricot Hill - 600PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My times so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

Race Car at Apricot Hill:
541PP – 1:20.808 – Shelby Daytona Coupe 15th Anniv ’64 – RH – FR – 399hp – 1043kg

535PP – 1:20.915 – Shelby Daytona Coupe ’64 – RH – FR – 384hp – 1043kg

Did it in both Shelbies! :D Then I saw @MadMax beat me to it. :irked:;)

Rocket at Brands Hatch Grand Prix:
556PP – 1:33.909 – LCC Rocket ’07 – SH – MR – 165hp – 390kg

I know this track is doable with a manual transmission. It would require too many hours with an automatic to gain a full second: I had enough of this car on Suzuka a while back.

Added my times for these cars in the docs:

Race Car at Apricot Hill:

535
- 1:20.453 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64

and cars that didn't make it: Elise Race Car '96 , S2000 LM , Spoon S2000 Race Car and Mazda Roadster TC

Rocket at Brands Hatch Grand Prix:

556
- 1:32.410 - LCC Rocket '07

The Rocket TT is similar to the X-Bow TT where you could just barely get gold with a solid lap.

At Apricot Hill I started with the Mazda Roadster TC and soon came to realise ~200 BHP wasn't going to cut it.
Then I had a flashback of the 15th Anniversary Time Trials at this track and went to check my replays. :D

15th Anniversary Cars Super Lap: Round 2 (the PP limit was 600 IIRC and target time was 1:22.500)
I had golded it with the 15th Anniv Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 with time of 1:19.896 ( Dec 20th 2013)

So I figured if the 15th Anniv version was good for sub 1:20 the normal could do sub 1:21.
After the first few restarts it all came back to me , I remember the 15th Anniv car being just as snaky as this normal car is. It took me many restarts to get a clean one / no spins - put together and below the target time.

GT6 has stalled on me trying to update to 1.14 - Having to delete GT6 game data and then download everything - then hoping it will install... I'll try again tonight.

What you call solid I call perfect. I'm still over a second off after about half an hour. The car feels at home here though. I'll keep at it.

To cheer myself up -
Race Car at Apricot Hill:

591PP
- 1:19.111 - Ferrari 330 P4 '67
and
544PP - 1:19.689 - Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car '85

Bad luck. Hope it goes ok.

An hour around Apricot Hill in a RS200 Rally Car and this was the end result. :banghead:

The one with the Rocket is definately doable. I'm currently at 1.33.356 and there still is quite some time to improve. Just need to keep the rear end from sliding too much. I'm liking this combo a lot more than the Nismo at Indianapolis though!

Update: Down to 1.33.006, oh boy, can't stop now

Update: 1.32.588, yeaah! Now I can happily go to sleep :sly: Still left some tenths in a few corners, but others were so hairy and on-the-edge, that it's not very probable for me to improve the overall time.

14 hours of hard work from my hard working PS3 last night... seemed to have downloaded all the update 1325mega-duburies - that took two cracks to get... then installing... it almost made it --- the "Approx 30 minute to go" bar started at 200 minute went up to 300 then it dropped to 3 minutes! the bar was still empty - (I don't trust the 'minutes left' algorithm at all)
And I actually thought it was going to do it... I saw the blue bar fill up and creep along, I thought about another hour should do it... but alas it froze when I returned to it.
I've let the console cool off - I hope it has downloaded the patches intact and it is just the console running out of steam trying to unzip and install it all.

Nice to see a Racing TVR get gold

Race Car Super Lap: target 1:21.000 - Apricot Hill - 600PP - RH

540PP -
1:19.326 - Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally Car '86 - RH - MR - 448bhp - 910kg
524PP - 1:20.842 - Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI '93 - RH - 4WD - 413bhp - 1010kg

The Rocket is going to have to wait, I'm having far too much fun here. I did another 10 laps in the RS200 but couldn't find the extra 1/1000th of a second. I've been a couple of tenths up on my ghost but lost it again. Surprisingly the Alfa was much easier and only took 3 or 4 laps to gold, leaving quite a bit out there.

Edit -
When I was putting the data into the spreadsheet I noticed that the Alfa's P/W ratio would put it nearer to 540PP and according to gtdata.net it was 537 in GT5. I think I got a bargain at 524PP.

Respect to you guys getting gold in the Rocket. I'm chucking in the towel at 1:33.117. I know it's only a tenth and I should be able to find it, but life's too short and I think I've given it my best shot. In the end I slapped on a turbo and did a couple of sloppy laps for the gold.
