xbox sucks
i mostly play with standard physics and it is very fun. i dont feel i am going fast and to hard to control with professional physics. But people on this forum mentions standard physics is for newbs and inexperienced people but i have to disagree. the community for standard physics is alot more bigger than those of you who play pro physics only. I have more than 80+ friends i've made for 1 year of playing gt5p standard physics and i see them all the time on 800pp suz or fuji recently. the professional races are often empty and hard to find races. it is not that we are inexperienced, we prefer more speed and more fun with setting up and tweaking the car.

Where do you see people bashing Standard physics? I havent seen that in a while.. everyone has got their preference... I played Standard for a while when I first got the game.. but eventually moved on... and you can go fast and tweak your car on Pro as well ;) Anyway where is this Standard bashing going on? Or do you just get that impression from these forums?

Intresting...
I often find the RWD cars difficult to handle sometimes and get annoyed cause sometimes in time trial the car acts like its on ice.

I then refer back to standard physics and immediately I can boot the throttle on a ferrari round a corner and it won't spin out - not very realistic is it?!

So in my opinion I think they need to work on tires and grip and get it somewhere in between. Or maybe it's me who can't drive? lol

Eh, I just think most people don't understand why people would buy Gran Turismo only to not use the full simulation options. As the fanbase was built up on people enjoying its more serious approach compared to other console games.

I can see why people would buy GT and do so, but the simracers out there may not. Thats life, ignore the people who don't understand and get on with it. Do you really care what people say?

Just need to work on your technique and perhaps try setting up the car (I'm making assumptions here, no offense intended). I find the car's are perfectly grippy with the right setup and control. It helps if you use a wheel of course.

This gets classified under "To each his own". When I feel just like picking up and playing a quick race, I'll put standard on. But for those us who have had Prologue for so long hafve nothing better to do then master the Pro physics.

I can honestly report that I've never used standard physics since I got the game. I just found it pointless in a game purporting to be the "real driving simulator".

You get the impression from some of the posters on this forum sometimes.
For example, when you say " I played standard for a while... but eventually moved on." that gives the impression that standard physics are only for people new to the game. That may seam like bashing to some people if they read enough post.

How about you try posting without insults. Just asked a question.LOL.

standard physics are awful to me and i use a dualshock, it's a completely different game, it saddens me that more people play online on standard events

I see.... Well just for the record I have no intent to bash standard physics with that context.. I tried Standard and tried Pro after and liked that better... To be blunt, I couldnt care less what people drive or what people think about what I drive... :sly: To each his own as was said earlier 👍

I have never looked down on people using standard physics. I went straight on to pro physics from the beginning because I wanted to enjoy the transition from GT4 (as I read somewhere the standard physics engine was the same as the GT4 one), not because I "didn't want to be a noob".

I use Pro physics all the time; much funnier and challenging that way. :D But I don't got a problem with people using Standard physics. :)

i met this person i beat him pretty bad in 800pp suz. he sent me a msg saying "hope you can do that at 800pp suz pro physics". playing pro physics doesnt make you any better than people playing standard physics and certainly cannot be an excuse for losing at standard physics. i also race very clean and punting out happens in pro physics also.

not me! i'd rather have 80% sure that ill have a clean race in PRO than 100% of a destruction derby festival in STD 👍

you dont like the destruction derby? i like it, thats why i go in the slowest events, people bash each other out of the way and its really fun. its a game at the end of the day, not work, so you want to have fun while you play the game. but if you like clean races, then i cant interfere with your preference.

Racing bumper to bumper and exchanging positions on nearly every corner cleanly is just as fun as racing in a slower event bumping people out the way. Maybe some guys dont get the feeling of a job well done when you complete a pro race cleanly with action all the way.

A member here or just a random racer?

I slightly disagree. Thats why its called Standard and Professional. Professional being the harder of the two, which involves more skill.

i also race very clean

👍

and punting out happens in pro physics also.

It does happen in Professional, but not as much as it does on Stnadard.

A better person? No. A better driver, absolutely. Take a Ferrari around a track, doesn't matter which one, and use standard physics and your preferred setup. When you have done that, Do the exact same thing, but on pro physics. Tell us which one is harder to drive. Which one needs more skill to use. And you re playing Gran Turismo. People do not know you personally. Therefore, the statement could be made that if you are a bad driver, you are worthless.

And yes, punting does happen in Pro, but most of the people there are there for driving, not punting. Therefore it's better.

And yes, I saw Jack's post. Felt like saying something too.

Since playing online I have never tried the standard events.
There's nothing wrong with them and it must be really enjoyable for the majority of people who have this game but there's just a tiny few who just want to be a little closer to the real stuff and that's in the professional racing.
The GT academy event was held in the pro event was it not.
End of the day it's a game but if I was to play in standard mode i would rather play NFS with all those neon lights under my car.

He was only having a laugh and not being serious.

There certainly shouldn't be any elitism with regard to which physics you choose on this forum at the very least - to my knowledge, the idea of this community is to welcome people of all abilities, so someone can run with standard physics and even with driving aids if they wish, and they shouldn't be looked down upon.

Of course, at the same time, this is a community of people who constantly strive to be better at GT and as such, many of us prefer to race on Pro physics without any driving aids (ABS excepted for many of us) and the comments made above are true - it does take more skill to drive quickly on Pro, and the racing is generally better too though punters do still find their way into Pro races.

So youre a punter?

 you have motorstorm for that! its very funny to push people out there.. really 👍 but on GT the fun of it is to race not push 👎

:odd: May I suggest you go somewhere else???

There is no doubt Pro physics takes more skill. I dont see much standard physics being bashed, as mush as I see pro physics getting praise.

Wouldn't that kind of prove that standard physics is for newbs on inexperienced a there will always be more of those than of the pros? I would think that if something is used only by the cream of the crop (ie the experienced and skilled) that would make the other option the one for newbs and unskilled...

I've been racing mainly pro- physics since the game came out, I always found it difficult and somehow unreal to master the higher PP events tho.
Well so a few updates ago I decided to give standart- events a try again and to my surprise it's way more fun especially if you have a 12 player race ( happens a lot ) and everyone drives clean. There's some really fast guys out there, you guys should check it out 👍
I'm just trying to say both has it pros and cons but if you manage to get in a race with 12 players who want to actually race and not crash, standart can be really awesome ;)

BTW i think they changed something about the rubberband as I usually can do very consistent laptimes lately, it's still there, but not as worse xD
