I recently had a mild whine about the Huayra's stopping distance, and a poster rightly pointed out it's a very fast car. I have also whined about the One-77 and probably others!
So, for fun, I decided to do some "tests" on various cars. Not properly controlled at all, very rough and subject to my reaction times at the time!
Used the big oval, all cars listed max power, minimum weight, racing softs (yes, even the Fiat!), TC-1. Started to brake at the 1000 metre mark (some cars took almost that long to get to top speed), more or less, made a reasonable estimate as to where stopped between 100m lines, used follow-cam as it was easier to spot where the cars stopped.
Here are the "results" in no particular order... Car - max speed (KM/H) - stopping distance (M).
330 P4 1967 (Gr. X) - 365 - 300
XJR-9 1988 (Gr.1) - 369 - 220
R18 '11 (Gr.1) - 360 - 190
RC F au Tom's 2016 (Gr.2) - 295 - 150
GT-R Nismo GT3 2013 (Gr.3) - 301 - 170
458 Italia Gr.4 (Gr.4) - 282 - 180
Huayra 2013 (N700) - 425 - 430
Veyron 16.4 2013 (N1000) - 402 - 470
One-77 2011(N800) - 392 - 420
500 F 1968 (N100) - 163 - 90.
I think this scientific experiment shows something very clearly; the faster you go, the longer it takes to stop.
That Huayra has an awesome speed!!
