Come tell us about the experiences rookies at GT3 had when they first played the game.

Last night I went upstairs for a quick moment after I had just finished an arcade race. I came back and my dad was sitting in the chair with the controller in his hand looking like he didn't have a clue what was going on. He had kept pressing triangle, so he was at the main menu. He continuously pressed triangle in an effort to start a race, so the game cut to a demo of F1 cars at Seattle (you know how that happens when you sit idle at the main menu). Immediately he alerted and asked "Which one am I" and then started pressing buttons at random as if trying to control one of the cars  Once I explained to him it was a demo, I decided to set him up for a little test session at Super Speedway to see what he could do.

I showed him the controls as I set him up with a black Camaro SS from the Arcade Garage (he likes GM). When he first got control of the car, he accelarated down the back straightaway like normal, weaving back and forth. Just as I noticed that the car was topping out at around 112mph, he asked "Is this the fastest this car can go?" Searching for the problem, I found it: He was resting his fingers on the shift buttons (he was using an automatic). For the most part, he kept it off the wall through turn 1, though he would drive erraticly down the back straightaway. Every time he would straighten out on the back straightaway, he would start bobbing his head back and forth and yell out "Driving on the highway........looking for adventure........BORN TO BE WIIIIIIIIIIILD" (he was partially drunk  ). He never did use the brakes (like a typical newbie), so he would always crash in turn 2. And he would "lean" into the corners (tilt the controller into the direction of the corner). Actually, he did better than I expected. His best lap was in the 0'48 mark after about 10 laps, then he stopped after he suddenly complained one of his fingers became numb. Heh.

That's quite funny!

I had a mate who wanted to have a go. He decided that he liked the look of Tokyo R246, and wanted to do that. I tried to talk him out of it, saying that I'd just finished the Enduro on that course, so knew it REALLY well. He said that it wouldn't make any odds since I knew all the courses.

We set up a 10-lapper, and he chose the ORECA Viper. I chose a stock NSX. Then I told him to wait, cos I needed the boy's room.

I came back and he was already half way through the first lap. Careering around, constantly spinning the car, sitting there with his nose in to the wall, full throttle, wondering why he wasn't going anywhere. Never braking for curves, that sort of thing. He did the full pinball act on the twisty back 'straight', which was quite funny.

I still won.

I treid to let my mom play and when she gets to a high speed turn (like in the sharper turn in Superspeedway) if shes turning to sharply, instead of letting off the wheel so she straightens out, she pushes the other way so she hits the outside wall almost head on, hehe..i tried to tell her, but she doesnt listen

I have a friend who has played GT3 around my House since it came out in the UK and he STILL cant get the hairpin bend on Midfield Raceway. He just seems to spin the car no matter what car he is using. He even did this in a Suzuki Alto Works for Gods sake. My brother can only drive on super speedway. He tries the other tracks and then does the pinball act on all the corners and he tries to drive in manuall

My ... ehh i feel like an old fart ... son tried to play it , althought he's only 4 years old , and he couldn't reach the pedals , but he didn't want to play with controller anyway...

I set my mom up behind the logitech wheel when I bought it, at least then she knows what to do. In a 206 rally car at Grand Valley she did nice, kept it out of the sand, out of walls. She didn't got passed 2nd gear though... Hehe, she drove really carefully because she didn't want to break my cars I guess...

On the flip side, my 5 year old nephew demolishes the opposition in the rally races (He likes the Escort). He has even beaten me at it!

*Hangs head in shame*
