Does anyone else feel that Flavio is just waiting for one REALLY bad race from Fisi so that he can sack him and bring in Piquet Junior, just like he did with Trulli.

Ya-huh, but he's already had a few shots. From his destinctly average race at Hungary, to quite a few other disappointing performances. Even if Kovaleinen and Fisichella are equal - Kovaleinen is an investment, while Fisi has shown what he can do - and it's not much.

That’s an interesting thought, a Nicolas Todt driver being replaced by another Nicolas Todt driver. What makes you think that, anyway? Not convinced Massa has a long-term future in F1, or…?

I don't think that Massa has the ultimate talent, and once Raikkonen comes on-song (which I think he's in the process of at the minute), then Ferrari will drop Massa as someone who did the job for them when they needed it. I don't think that the 1-car model will work with Raikkonen, because I think he's too lazy. He needs to be stretched by his team-mate. Whatever you want to say about Montoya's individual performances, his effect on the team in galvanising Raikkonen was dramatic. I didn't know that Seb was a Todt driver.

Piquet Jr is in the wings, and would be a good sub a la Jacques Villeneuve should Fisi be given the boot without notice, but I wouldn't hire him in a full-time seat. He was far from convincing in GP2: off Hamilton's pace and with a significant lack of mental resilience. But yes, I believe Flav has Fisi in the gunsights.

I think Fisi has great talent, but has never managed to marshal it into consistently top-line performances. I think his time in a top team is up. Heikki is the real deal, and it will be good to see him do well in a sorted Renault in '08.
