Okay today i took my 86 out to drift at Midfeild. I was doing fime having fun when suddenly after one corner i got stuck in 6th gear with an auto matic transmtion. it was one of the slower corners so i dropped down to about 32mph then i gased it and i was just pealing out all the way up to about 80+ untill i had to slow down for the next corner then it crazilly downshiffted to 3 really fast. It ws crazy! :D I liked pealing out! Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way i can induce this on pupose?

You're doomed. Your face will swell up and your GT3 disc will melt.

Seriously, it just sounds like a game bug. Try using MT to induce burnouts.

MT is definitely the way to go for drift/rally driving.

I think you caused the problem by using the E-brake improperly..... or else your dick will turn black and your PS2 will explode if you go over 60 mph.

WOW. NO. MT Does not equal mountain touge. Not funny nor witty.

Yes, I suggest you use MANUAL TRANSMISSION for drifting. Auto-matic has some limitations like going over the red line to reach the faster speed. You can downshift better and you can keep it in the same gear and not worry about downshifting too low.

Manual Transmission :dunce:!

Your feet will now catch on fire, and your controller will spontaneously combust.

Easy; you can control what gear you're in (very important for power oversteer)

Not really. As I said, I've used both and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't think I've ever had a problem with the car ever being in the wrong gear. (unless the gearing was all messed up)

I drift with AT 90% of the time. Without a clutch, I just don't see the point of using MT.

i second that.

that happens to me sometimes. just apply some brake.

i third. AT just much easier and much less work required. sounds cheesy to drift with AT, but it's not a real AT anyways.

As Ethix said, i've used both AT and MT, yet i see no BIG difference. Ofcourse MT has its advantages but i am too carried away trying carry out my drifts that MT would just be one more load of work to do when i'm sideways.

Super ditto. AT lets you concentrate more on drifting without worrying about smackin the R/L2 buttons. AT never has caused a problem for me concerning power oversteer, because if you use a moderately hp'ed car with SIM TIRES AS YOU ALWAYS SHOULD (unless you have 297264 bajillion hp.. :)) you'll be slidin all over no matter what.

What, your controller is missing the R2 button? It prevents the AT from up-shifting.

WWhhatt! :dunce: I did not know this, not very useful for grip driving but for drifting ;)

I will eventually change to MT better control and thats what you need when drifting :dopey:

I have way to much fun with Manual to let go of it. It's never been something that gets in the way. I drive a stick everyday IRL so I guess I'm just used to having to shift. I've never even played GT3 with an AT Before. Unless I was dumb and pressed the button before I got a chance to select manual.

i drive a MT in real life but i think drifting in gt3 with an AT is a problem at all. its just a pride thing i guess if you HAVE to play with a MT

I never thought of that. Maybe it is. But honestly, I get bored really quickly when I drive and automatic in any racing game except Lemans 24. That game was hard....Back on topic

Yeah, it probably is just a pride thing. But a fun pride thing!

You have greater control with MT.

The most important thing, i think what Victor Vance was talking about, is that you can change your location in the power band without having to brake or accel which disrupts the balance of car while cornering.
